A short conversational segment from a YouTube video by Charles Noonan arguing that building a house can be better than buying. Speakers emphasize that finishings (kitchen, bathroom, tiles) often drive the cost and perceived value of a home far more than structural materials like lumber. One speaker recounts learning true build costs after doing a full demo and renovation, and now judges resale ‘dream houses’ by the grade of their finishes rather than overall price.

We think buying a house from Trulia and Zillow is the home run, the American dream. We never think like. And look, this is how we're wired. The more we spend for the house, more flex it is, right? Realistically, finishings cost.
The most, right?
Your kitchen, your bathroom, your tiles.
And stuff like that.
The house, the lumber and all of that stuff costs so little in respect.
To how much we.
Pay, sometimes.
100%.
So it's crazy, man.
I learned that when I bought my house. House, like, so before I bought. I purchased my house, I was just renting because we moved to a new area. I was like, man, I want to see what this, like, so with me being involved in real estate, me doing a full demo, full gut, doing all of those things and seeing the true cost. Yeah. Of what it costs to build. Now when I'm looking at houses, I'm walking through when we picking our quote unquote dream house for right now, right? I'm looking and I'm looking at the grade of the bill, and I'm like, nah, this is not worth it.
The same, like, so.
