I'm starting to love and wanting to know more about my culture and embrace it more, because I realized a part of not knowing who I am and trying to find myself. As I went through that process of just like, you know, spending more time with me and having self care and self love and trying to really understand what that meant for me, I realized the reason why I never felt whole was because I never knew that side. Like, I could never connect. If a Haitian person come in and say, the most I can say is Nabilea, like, I couldn't really have a conversation. I couldn't tell you the struggles of my people because I never connected with them.
You didn't embrace the history or the culture?
No. I tried to shy, like, stay away from it because it reminded me of my father. It reminded me of who I was.
