Dr. Cara explains how to get your resume past automated hiring filters: copy exact wording from the job posting into yours. A Harvard survey of 2,250 executives found 88% say their systems reject qualified candidates whose resumes don't match the job description closely enough.
Tip 3: Use the actual words from the job posting in your resume. Here's why this matters. Most companies, including almost every big employer, will run your resume through a software filter before a human ever sees it. Harvard Business School ran a study on this. They surveyed 2,250 executives across the United States, the UK, and Germany. Here's what they found. 88% of those executives said their own hiring systems filter out qualified candidates. Because the resumes don't match the job description closely enough. 88% of the hiring managers know this is happening. They told Harvard that the system is screening out people who could do the job and nobody's changing it.
