Short advice video (Feb 2, 2022) by Dominic Imwalle about who to surround yourself with during a job search. The speaker recommends: (1) connect with people already working in the role you want to learn current trends and interview expectations; (2) stay close to peers who are applying to the same roles to share experiences and motivation; and (3) build relationships with HR professionals to understand behind-the-scenes application/interview processes. The video ends with an invitation for questions and future video ideas.

Happy Friday. I hope your week is going well and thanks for tuning in once again. I appreciate all the support. These Friday videos are going to go all year long, so it really helps me push along. For this week's video, I wanted to jump into who you're surrounding yourself with in during the job search. Right. It's super important, can either make or break the search and really help you navigate those stressful situations. The first thing I did, and I recommend is putting yourself around people who are already in the role that you're looking for. I wanted to work in the big four accounting firms. I put myself around people who were doing internships, landing their full time roles, they were going through the interview process and they knew the latest trends in the industry. So that's a great place to start, right? You're able to jump questions off them and go ahead and use that in your interview process as you go forward. The second thing is to, you know, your friends who are applying for the same roles and it might feel a little awkward, maybe a little competitive. Just enjoy it. Having a friend who's going through that job search process is, it can be a little awkward, like I said, but use it to your benefit, right? Bounce questions off each other. Hey, what was your interview like at that firm? What's it going to be like for me, do you think? And it's really going to help you because if you're going through it together, it pushes you along and keeps you motivated during the process. The last thing is you want to surround yourself with someone and, and have a connection with someone in the HR industry on the HR side of things so they can kind of give you a little bit of an input on, hey, what's the latest interview trends? What's it looking like for me going forward? How does the application look when I, you know, apply? And they'll give you that and show you behind the scenes and that really helped me during the interview process being knowing a little bit more about what goes on behind the scenes after I apply. So I hope this help you with who you should surround yourself with when you're job searching. If you have any questions below, please let me know. And any ideas for future Friday videos I'd be happy to field. As always, have a great rest of your weekend and Happy Friday.
