Are you Authentically Engaged? Or dying slowly each day... {Freedom Friday Focus}

Kenny Chapman argues that work doesn't have to be joyless. Using Disneyland as a metaphor, he says you're either authentically engaged or dying slowly, and that you have the power to change your situation by playing full out with your talents.

Foreign. Are you authentically engaged? That's the question. So I want you to check this out. Remember back to when you went to Disneyland, when you went to Disney World? I'm a West coast guy, so. So Disney World maybe, or a Six Flags here from Texas or different parts of the world, right? What happened? You walk from the time you walk through the gate to the time that you went home or fell asleep in the car, right? You were just. The day went like that. Zach, good to see you. Bobby, la, we need to connect, man. Good to see you too. So you know Larry. Good to see you, buddy. Old havasu friend, man, long time. So, okay, let me get back to it. Authentic engagement, right? We think that we have to have this moment in time. We think that we have to have this like. Oh, okay, what's the old adage? That time flies when what? You're having fun, right? So what does that mean? We're taught as we grow up as adults that you can't have fun with your quote unquote job, with your quote unquote career, with this thing that you have to do for 40 years that you hate forever just to put food on the table. Right. And all those different things. And I challenge that. And here's why I believe that authentic engagement creates that thing. So what your responsibility is with your God given talent that was given to you. Why would you accept anything less than engaging in that and saying, you know what? I'm going to play full out. Why would I do any less? I'm not sure. This might be the only life that I have, so why wouldn't I want to go to Disneyland every day when I was 6 years old? Would you? Yes, you would have. Now it's your Disneyland. Now it's your Disney World. Now it's your Six Flags. It's your park, it's your world, it's your life. It's time for you to engage and it's time for you to do it authentically. If you don't like what you're doing, that's your own fault. Change the game. If you don't like who you're doing it with, that's your responsibility. Change the game. It's your responsibility to take everything that you've been given and be the very best you can be. As they used to say when I was in the army. Until we talk, my friends, have a better than fantastic day. And as the blue collar coach, we'll talk very soon. Cheers.
