Avoiding the Gap with Gratitude

Kenny Chapman uses a cruise from Lima to San Diego to explain why driven entrepreneurs always feel behind. His fix: look back at what you've accomplished in the last 30, 60, or 90 days and practice gratitude instead of chasing the next gap.

Hey, my friends, Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach coming to you with a little freedom Friday focus today from the northern Pacific Ocean once again. Now, today I want to talk to you about your goals, right? So if you're in our titanium club, you know, Justin's been hammering the goal process over the last couple weeks, setting you up for success to make 2018 your best ever. Now, what I want you to think about today a little bit is the gap and gratitude. Right? I talked to you about the gap. My mentor, Dan Sullivan taught me the conc completely has changed my life. And today, as you look behind me, you just see horizon. Nothing but water right? Out, just going, going, going. We don't know how far we have to go exactly. Of course, now today we do. But here's the. Here's how it represents for your life, right? We go and we're not. It doesn't look like we're getting any closer to our destination, right? All you can see is water. But the fact is here, in a couple hours, we're going to be docking once again. We're just off the coast of Mexico, see? So if we walked over to the other side of the ship, you can actually. Now, which direction are you facing? Which direction are you pointing? See? So what we have to do, here's the reality. As a driven entrepreneur, you will always create gaps in your life, right? So we started this cruise down in Lima, Peru. We're going to get off the ship tomorrow in San Diego, California. A lot of different destinations to get there. Each day we're closing more of that gap. Each day of your life, you're closing more of that gap. Guess what? As a driven entrepreneur, as soon as you close it, you create a new one. As soon as we had Machu Picchu, we had the experience in Lima. We got on the boat now with the lovely Christy and I wanted to see what's next, what's coming for us, what can we do, what is there to learn, right? The same is indicative of your life. I look at this ship, I'm on an oceanic cruise line. Highly recommend it, by the way. Amazing staff, amazing food. This is the third time Christy and I have been on one of these, and I think it's the best deal on the sea. I think it's amazing. Now what happened? We started in a regular stateroom, and then we're in a concierge level this time we're in a penthouse. And we had drinks with some new friends. We met their owner suite. Ah, now there's a no gap. Another gap oh, we want to stay in this room. You're doing that every day in your life. And then guess what? That's okay. How do you fix it? Look back. Very seldom do I tell you to look back in your life. I always talk about going forward and looking forward. But here's what happens. When you live there, you live in lack. You live in the gap. You got to get out of the gap. And the way to get out is to look back and look at your accomplishment. That's why we look at the last quarter. That's why we look at what you've done over the last 30 days, 60 days, 90 days. Because you are moving your life forward, just like the captain is moving this ship forward today. You're gonna create a gap with some goals in 2018. Things that you want to accomplish. Guess what? We're gonna do everything in our power to help you accomplish those. And then you're gonna create a new gap. And that's where the magic of life happens. Avoid the gap with gratitude. And until we talk, my friends, have a better than fantastic day. And look out for when I get back.
