Cat Chasing a Laser?

Hey, everybody. Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach, coming to you with this week's video version of Freedom Friday Focus. Now, this week, I want to ask you a quick question. Do you feel like a cat chasing a laser? You know what I'm talking about. You've probably been cruel enough to have the little laser pointer and you shine it on the wall or move it on the carpet. We've seen YouTube videos, funniest home movies or whatever kind of stuff where these cats just go nuts and they jump over here, and then you move it over here and off they go over there. Guess what? That's how most contractors run their day. Stop the insanity, ladies and gentlemen. Time management is a myth. That's right. Time management's a myth. You go, wait a minute, Kenny. But there's books and there's programs, and it's a buzzword. And everybody's talking about time management, time management. You can't manage time. There's only so much time in the day. You have 24 hours in a day. I have 24 hours in a day. Richard Branson has 24 hours in a day. The President of the United States has 24 hours in a day. The homeless guy on the end of the street has 24 hours in a day. You can't manage time. You can only manage yourself. So if you catch yourself, I don't have enough time. Man, the time goes so fast. Time flies. I wish I had more hours. Stop the insanity and take control of the situation. Which means, what am I focusing on? You should only be focusing on three things a week. Those top three things that are really going to drive revenue growth today and in the future. Now, that could be, you know, developing your next marketing plan or your next marketing piece or whatever, but it might also be handing it off to your team to get something created to where you're maximizing your time. Most entrepreneurs complicate things because our egos say, well, it can't be easy. So I've got to have fires to put out. I've got to be chasing things. I've got to be doing things. Busy, busy, busy, busy all the time. Stop it. I'm telling you, stop it. And. And free yourself. You can double your income and double your free time if you take control of your schedule and what you focus on. Granted, there's only so much time in the day, so how are you using it? Get focused on the things that matter most and then get after it. So only two difficult things when it comes to time management. One is deciding and understanding what the proper things to focus on are, number one and number two, actually doing the things that matter most and not getting sucked away. You know, if you've got the little outlook, things that show up on your computer when you get an email, or you've got it where it buzzes you or. Stop that stuff. Multitasking is a myth, too. You can't do two things exactly at the same time with the same amount of effort and energy. Get laser focused on the things that matter. If you're constantly firefighting for your day, I have one question for you. Who's the arsonist? Until we talk again, have a better than fantastic day.
