Check Your Energy

Kenny Chapman (the "blue collar coach") introduces himself and thanks the audience for their time. He states his passion for the plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical industries and frames the clip as a brief, motivational/instructional talk for tradespeople.
Hi, I'm Kenny Chapman. I'm the blue collar coach.
And.
I'm really passionate about the plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical industries. And I want to thank you for taking the time out of your really busy schedule to, you know, share a little time with me here today.
What? You're like, what? Let me cut this off and get this guy out of my head and delete this email and move on. What is this guy, nuts? Right? Check your energy, my friend. Think about that, okay? You're in front of the room. You are training your people. They are looking at you. They feel off of you. Energy breeds energy, and energy feeds off of energy if you walk up. And so that's a drastic example that I just gave you. As you open this up and you start to look and you're like, what's going on here? The reason I do that is because, guess what? Sometimes you take the front of the room. That way you'll get your sales team together, you'll get your technicians together, and you take the stage. Maybe not quite that way, but that's how they're perceiving it. Okay? Now, you don't have to jump up and down and do calisthenics and get all crazy and all that kind of stuff. But my friend, check your energy level. Very, very important. You do this. Many of you train every single week. Some of you train multiple times a week within your own organization. It's hard to always be at the top of your game. And remember, I think about when I came up and I had mentors, I was like, when I hit the stage, it was just like, here all the time, all the time, all the time. And I've learned through coaching and being out there that you've got to take and you've got to tell a story and you've got to create a framework, okay? So you've got to bring energy and you don't need to stay there all the time. You'll lose people if you stay there all the time. So if you're running, you know what we do in our company, we use Power 30 meetings. We do 30 minute blocks of content where it's boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And sometimes we need to go longer. We'll schedule that. Maybe you do an hour, but if you're doing 30 minutes or an hour, you cannot stay here all the time. But I want you to check it because oftentimes you just. Hey, guys, how's it going? Yeah, everybody gets some donuts. I hope everybody had a good night last night. Well, today we're going to talk about building relationship with the customer. And it's like, come on, man. It's like, hey, you know, think about this. Start out, tell a story. Think about your energy. You know, remember relationship that you had where something really, really worked for you. Whatever the case is, okay, Mix it up. Have some fun. Tap into yourself. Check your energy and make sure that you're dialed. They're there investing their time. You might say, well, I'm pay them to be at the meeting. They should be there with bells on and ready to listen. Hey, they're still investing their time, man. Bring it. You don't want to go to an average movie, do you? You don't want to go and sit and spend time watching somebody listen to somebody that's going to bore them. Don't do that to them, okay? And I speak from experience because I've bored a lot of rooms over the years before I really learned how to do what I do very, very well. Okay? So tap into it. Use it. Check your energy. Bring the very best that you got. You. You can do this, my friend. Thanks for your time. I'll see you next time.
