Kenny Chapman marks 20 years in business but counts only 15 as real experience, saying the first five he was asleep at the wheel. He argues that experience without learning is a tragedy, and that how you think about a problem often is the problem itself. He offers a free 20-minute strategy session to anyone who emails him.

Hey, everybody, Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach, coming to you live with this week's video version of Freedom Friday Focus. Standing out here on the Santa Monica Pier as I celebrate my 20 year business anniversary. Had a speaking engagement yesterday and the lovely Christy and I are staying an extra day just to celebrate 20 years of being in business. So today I want to talk to you about experience. I celebrate a 20 year anniversary, but let's be clear, I don't have 20 years of experience. I probably have about 15, maybe. Why? Because I was asleep at the wheel for the first five or so. And now think about yourself. How many years? Just because you have an anniversary doesn't mean you have a year of experience. My friend Dan Sullivan, the founder of the Strategic Coach, says that one of the biggest tragedies is experience without learning. Think about yourself. Sometimes we have bad things happen or what the world says is bad things. Guess what? The problem is not the problem. The way you think about the problem is the problem. So if you want to double your company, if you want to grow your company by 10 times, you've got to think about it a little differently. You've got to take some different action actions than what got you here. I always say what got you here won't get you there. Forget about some of the things that you've done to this point and move on. What are you learning as you look at experience and as things happen? Okay, so think about yourself. Now, here's what I want to do. I'm going to give you a little gift. I'm going to give you 20 minutes of my time for a free strategy session. If you want to talk about your company, if you want to talk about some strategy, if you want to look at doing something a little bit differently, simply reply to this email and I'll spend time with you. I'll help you just because I want to contribute. I want to make contracting easier. I want to help people grow. I want to help you lead at a different level and enjoy your life. I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach. Until we talk again, have a better and fantastic day and I'll see you next time.
