{Freedom Friday Focus} Are you YOUR best? No matter what?

Kenny Chapman asks from Quito whether you're the best at your craft, whatever it is. He saw seven shoeshine stations in the town square and wondered which one was actually excellent. The gap between where you are and where you could be isn't about luck. It's about choosing to get better.

You ever notice how when you're doing a specific task, something that other people are doing, many of the world calls that competition, right? We look and see certain things. Today I wanted to give you a quick Freedom Friday message from Quito, Ecuador. The lovely Christy and I just had an awesome breakfast, and we're sitting along the main town square here, and very interesting thing that ties to your life took place, and that is there were seven, count them, seven shoeshine little station things set up that these guys wheel up and they come up and they set up there by the square. And amazing how many people get their shoes shined, right? So as we look at this, there's a line of them, there's seven stations, and a couple of them have people waiting while a couple others might have an open seat. And what's going on? What's the difference between that? Are you the very best shoe shiner you can be, or are you the best carpet cleaner you can be? Are you the best plumber you can be? Are you the best roofing contractor? Whatever you're doing, my friend, how are you the very best at it, right? So the lovely Christy and I are down here in Ecuador. We're flying over to the Galapagos Islands tomorrow. And it reminds me of that as I walk through this city and I see people that were born here that were, you know, born generations or whatever. And, you know, I've talked about the fact I didn't think I was in the lucky sperm club because of the way I was brought up. And, you know, not poverty, but secondhand clothes and whatnot. See, and the fact is, 100%, we were born in the lucky sperm club in the United States, Canada and Australia. Now, I want you to think about your business. I want you to think about your frustrations. I want you to think about what you're whining and complaining about. And I want you to ask yourself this, am I being the very best I can be at it? That becomes the question, if you're shining shoes, are you the best? Because right down here on the square, there are some of them that are working harder at it. They've got demonstration going on. They're almost an act to watch, right? What about you? What about you and your leadership? What about you as a technician? What about you as a csr? What about you as a. As a mom, as a spouse, whatever that looks like, my friend, Are you being your very best? Because that's what we want. It's 2018. You got more. We want it. Until we talk from Quito, my friends. Cheers.
