Kenny Chapman (the "Blue Collar coach") delivers a short motivational message urging entrepreneurs and business leaders to invest in personal development and deliberately curate their communities. He argues that community strongly influences mindset, behavior, and even earnings, citing an (MIT) study that most people earn within $5,000 of their five closest friends. Chapman uses examples (clubs, church, industry events like Blue Collar) and a personal anecdote to recommend evaluating whether your community supports, challenges, and holds you accountable; if not, change it to grow yourself and your business.

Hey, my friend Kenny Chapman here, the blue Collar coach, coming to you with a message about growing yourself to grow your business. Now, I'm big on personal development. I'm big on mindset right here. And the thing that really influences this can be our community. Now, sense of community has been around forever. I feel like since we started walking the planet, what happened? We built our little town and turned it into a little community. And then as things grow and there became more and more people involved in around, we started dicing into little micro communities within this community. And now today we this from the time we're young and you know, it's like whether it's girl Scouts, whether it then turns into chamber functions, whether it's Lions club, whether it's the church, whatever that is, it depends on the sense of community that we seek, that we want to be around. Now sometimes as we get to be entrepreneurs, business leaders, things can get tough, things can get hard, we get worn out, we get tired, and we can just kind of go into our own little world. Then we can feel alone. I want to challenge you today to look at your own community. Think about the community that you're in. Is it serving you? Are you seeking out like minded people? MIT did a study that said that most people earn within $5,000 of their five closest friends. Now think about that. Why? Because it's who we are around that we become like that, we think like that, we do like. Okay. I remember growing up, my parents would change churches every so often. Not every year, not all the time, but periodically. Now that wasn't because their relationship with God changed. That wasn't because that, you know, it necessarily had to do anything with their belief system. But they wanted a different community. Okay? Now as business leaders, it really influences us. We're just hot off our week at Sammy, totally pumped. Now at Blue Collar, we put the event on the events the best in the industry because of the community that shows up, because of the openness, because of the sharing, because of saying, you know what, I made this mistake, you don't have to make it too. That's ultimately what it's about. Look at your own community, look at who you're surrounding yourself with and challenge it. And if it's not serving you, if you're not with people that will challenge you, hold you accountable, but completely support you and your goals, then it's time to make some changes. Just take a look at that. Grow yourself and grow your business. I'm Kenny Chapman. Until we talk again, my friend, have a better than fantastic week and I'll see you real soon.
