Headwinds and Resistance

Kenny Chapman speaks from Snowmass Village about ‘resistance’—framing obstacles as headwinds that can be turned into tailwinds by removing naysayers and toxic team members and by choosing supportive people. He urges listeners to stop tolerating negative influences, take control of their lives and organizations, and enjoy the holiday weekend with renewed focus and agency.

Hey, my friend Kenny Chapman here, coming to you live from Snowmass Village outside of Aspen here this week. Lovely music festival here over Labor Day weekend. And this year, we peeled off a week of our time. We're working up here, but we're just taking a little time together after being on the road. Now, here's what I want to talk to you about today. Resistance. I want to talk to you about headwinds versus tailwinds when it comes to your company, when it comes to your life, when it comes to your success. So here's. Here's the reality, right? You decide that you want to do something different in your company. You decide you want to be a different type of a leader. You decide you want to take a different direction. You decide you want to take on a partner, whatever that looks like. And you get met with straight resistance. You have people come out of the woodwork to say, whoa, wait a minute, that's not going to work. You got the naysayers that show up, and they show up in the form of family and friends and competitors and different types of situations where people are like, no, you can't do that. You can't break the mold. You can't run a successful company and give back to the community and take care of team members and grow yourself and all those types of things that can't be done because this is a struggle. Guess what, my friends? That's how most people live their lives. But you're not most people, and you don't have to be that way. So you're probably getting ready to head out for your holiday weekend. I want you to go. I want you to decompress. I want you to unplug. Have a good time. Really clear your mind. Really spend some quality time with yourself. Here's the reality is you are a miracle because you woke up today. Think about it. You have a chance to play the game. So many of us spend our time focused on that resistance, that headwind that's coming at us, right? What I want you to think about is making it a tailwind when you start removing the naysayers and replacing them with supportive people. When you eliminate the cancers within your organization and the team. One of our titanium clients just said yesterday, I talked to him about February firing a cancerous team member in their organization. Man, they were ready. They were fired up. Yesterday I found out that it happened six months. Why not? Ready to take control, make your life better, Stop being a victim to other people. People get upset when they hear me say, oh, I'm a victim. You are a victim. Come on. You're a victim of what you tolerate. You're a victim of how you were raised. You were a victim of your belief system. Until you take control and say, no more. No longer. Now is my time. Here's the thing. You're going out for a holiday weekend. Go have a good time. And I want you to go with this. You've got more and you've got enough to get through that headwind. You've got enough to turn on that and then make it a tailwind and allow your life to turn into what it's supposed to be. Go have a better than fantastic holiday weekend. If you're in the us, if you're in the can, or if you're in Canada and Australia, you're already heading towards your weekend. But I want you to have a great time. But I want you to focus on eliminate that resistance. You've got it. You've got more. I want to see it until we talk. Have a better than fantastic week and I'll see you real soon.
