Kenny Chapman (the "blue collar coach") delivers a short Freedom Friday Focus video based on a teleseminar titled "How Great Leaders Turn Communication into Profit." He argues that effective, proactive communication — especially in people-heavy businesses like his plumbing/heating/AC company — directly improves relationships, efficiency, product/process, and ultimately profitability. The video gives practical exhortations to leaders to check their communication habits, model better behavior, and be patient while changing conditioned responses.

Hey, everybody, Kenny Chapman here coming to you with this week's video version of Freedom Friday Focus. As you'll see in the written document this week, we're talking about a teleseminar that John and I did earlier this week entitled How Great Leaders Turn Communication into Profit. Now, any coach or consultant, anybody that does what I do knows the importance of effective communication. However, I know the importance of effective communication at even a higher level. Based on the plumbing, heating, air conditioning company that we run every single day. I've often advocated that. We're in the people business, my friends, and whatever your product might be, it might be a little different than ours. It might be a little in a different industry, a different change, whatever. The fact of the matter is we're in the people business and products come and go and change, but people are the constant. The better we can effectively communicate with these people that it seriously goes right to the bottom line. Every time I'm on site with clients, I see opportunities for improved communication. I would just advocate this week that you think about how critically important it is. Whether it's you communicating with other leaders on your team, whether you're communicating with your frontline, it's going to translate to even how your front line translates to communicating with your customers. Okay? So, you know, people come up with their own answers. If they don't understand something that's going on or aren't sure what's happening or why, they're going to come up with their own answer. So I want you as the leaders to head this off to go in the direction of being proactive and getting out in front of any challenges. So, you know, in our weekly coaching mastermind group right now we're working through some, we're creating some challenge or changes within our clients companies which can bring challenge. And effective communication has to be paramount. So, you know, when we get clear, we can, we can improve efficiency with communication, we can improve product, we can improve process, we can improve profit. And that's ultimately what it's all about. And the bottom line, we're in the relationship world. We have relationships at our companies personally, all these things can improve and you have a lot more fun. And that's what life's about. Having a good time. So have a great time this week. Check yourself, catch when you're not communicating at the highest level you possibly can and stop it right then and take a different route. We have conditioned responses for the way we communicate. So be easy with yourself as you're changing this and modeling into a higher level communicator that you want to be. You've got this, my friend, so you can do it. Pay attention, Check yourself, do the very best you can and. And be easy with yourself as you make the change. I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach. From the very best in me to the very best in you, have a better than fantastic week and I'll see you next week.
