Short YouTube coaching clip by Kenny Chapman (the Blue Collar Coach) arguing that reinforcement—consistent, planned repetition and managerial follow-up—is essential to make training pay off. He uses analogies (bodybuilding, a local winery’s awards) to show that skill and quality take time, deliberate effort, testing, and inspection; managers must "inspect what you expect" and create reinforcement programs to get ROI from training.

Hey, everybody, Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach, coming to you with this week's video version of Freedom Friday Focus. And this week we're talking about the importance of reinforcement. The importance of continuing working on the skill, the desired behavior that you want to change. And oftentimes, you know, all the training and coaching and the programs that we do, people say, you know, how do we do better at reinforcement? How can I make my training dollars good, go further, create better roi. And I say, create a reinforcement program. This is no different than going to the gym. You can't do one workout and then expect to be an award winning bodybuilder or something like that. Today I'm shooting this actually from Two Rivers Winery outside of Grand Junction. And Christy and I are stopping by getting a few gifts and things. And I look at these, look at all these awards that this great winery has won right in our local market here. Well, realize that that doesn't happen by planting a grape seed one year and having this vineyard come up and winning awards. It takes time, it takes consistent effort. It takes intent, focus, and a plan. When you think about your training dollars, whether you're sending technicians to us in our upcoming school in two weeks in Chicago or any of the other training that you do, if you're utilizing our video membership, you've got to consistently reinforce. Tony Robbins probably said it best when he said repetition is the mother of all skill. That's something that we forget. We send technicians off to training, go get them fixed, bring them back and they're fixed and they're going to get your roi. They're going to more than pay for that ticket and that airline and all the different things. But the reality is now we've got to have our managers continuing to reinforce for the desired behavior. You've got to inspect what you expect, ladies and gentlemen. And I know that these awards weren't won on accident. There was a plan here and, and they tested and they changed and they kept cultivating. That's what we have to do and that's how to make the very most of your training dollars, through reinforcement. I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach. Until we talk again, have a better and fantastic week and I'll see you next time.
