Short motivational transcript in which Kenny Chapman (the 'blue collar coach') challenges the idea that formal schooling ends, arguing that adult life and business constitute ongoing learning. He contrasts youthful eagerness for school to end with the reality that personal and professional growth require continuous education and execution.
Kenny Chapman, the.
Blue collar coach. Is school.
Out for you?
Check it out. Think about this. I'll date myself a little bit. 1972.
My neighbor, Alice Cooper, well, he lives in Phoenix somewhere. He's really not my neighbor, but nonetheless, he recorded that hit song about schools out. I want you to think about this for a moment. Is school out for you or is school in? What's interesting to me is I barely got out of school, meaning high school, meaning I didn't study well, meaning I was a kinesthetic learner, meaning they didn't know how to teach me. And what's fascinating is now I have more than enough invested in my adult education to have multiple master's degrees. So let me ask you, is school out? You think back to the playground days. You think back to your adolescent days. You couldn't wait for school to get out. You wanted to play that Alice Cooper tune, school's out. I don't have to think about this nonsense for a couple months. Now, here you are. You got your adult card. You got responsibility. It's time to play the game full out. Now, guess what? School's always in. What about the school of life and business? What about what you're learning? What about the triumphs, the challenges, the pain, the wins? That's really where the school's at. When I want you to think about how you grow is how you learn. How you learn, how you execute. I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach until we talk. Have a better than fantastic day, and we'll see you real.
