Kenny Chapman explains why tradespeople and managers need to know their audience. Misunderstandings usually come from unclear communication, not bad intent. Tailored communication closes more sales and builds stronger relationships.

Hey everybody, Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach with this week's video version of Freedom Friday Focus. This week we're talking about knowing your audience. I wanted to touch on this this week because, you know, this is something whether, whether you're doing training in your own contracting business, whether you're having one on one coaching sessions with team members, whether it's relationships at home, whatever it is, you really need to know them on whatever level that we're coming from. You ever notice how we'll talk to team members and say, hey, I really need you to get X, Y and Z done and it just doesn't seem to land. Or you talk about the power of the paperwork and the importance of it and just nothing happens. Well, sometimes that's because we don't know really how to reach them. And it's not that they're bad people and they're trying to undermine us and fight us on different things. They're just a little confused. There's a lot of stuff going on. So one of the things I learned from being on the road, on the speaking circuit and things like that, I'll see speakers take the stage that don't even. Never interviewed event planners, never talked to the top executives about, you know, what their audience, the kind of demographics, what they're made up. And every time my friends that I see a speaker take the stage like that, guess what? That's right. It's like boom, right? It's like, remember the Roadrunner and Coyote cartoons where it just gets blown up? That's what it's like. They blow up every time. And I see service managers in our business that don't, you know, they've got their clicks in their own companies and stuff like that. And this week I just really want you to focus on, on that clear communication with another person. I just had my five year wedding anniversary this week. And though it's not a real long time for a lot of people in today's world, every year is a great accomplishment. And the only way Christy and I are able to maintain our relationship and grow is through effective communication. And it's the same with your selling technicians when they're with customers. No, I'm not asking you to have your text date your customers. In fact, I highly disagree with that. But what I'm saying is the way that we approach things, the way that we invest in that relationship, if you will, is a very powerful thing. And it's a sure deal to close more sales. I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach. This is your video version of Freedom Friday Focus this week. Have a fantastic weekend, and we'll talk to you soon.
