Productive 2nd Quarter?

A short YouTube talk (Kenny Chapman, the Blue Collar Coach) recorded at Peterson World Headquarters offering practical productivity advice for the start of the second business quarter. Chapman emphasizes reducing distractions (esp. phones and email), "chunking" time into sacred blocks (as small as 15–20 minutes), scheduling work around personal peak energy, and training teammates to respect focused work time. The message frames the second quarter as a fresh start: "wipe the first quarter clean" and treat it as "go time."

Hey, everybody, Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach, coming to you from Peterson World Headquarters, Blue Collar Success Group, World headquarters. And I just want to touch base real quick and talk about a couple things about productivity and avoiding distractions this week. So here we're all spread out at the conference table. I don't have an office in my building. We've got our director of marketing sitting here across from me going through diving in, looking at what's working, what's not working, what do we need to do? Different second quarter already, Right from the second quarter. Can you believe that Already? So here we are. Now, how can you be more productive in the second quarter than you have been in the first? A lot of us are coming out of shoulder season right now, right? So we're going to head into tune up season. If you're in the H Vac business, plumbing is going to be picking up, drain cleaning is going to be picking up, electrical service. People want to do things. You got home shows coming, all these different types of things. What about your productivity? Here's what I know. There are more distractions going on in this world than ever before. One of them, John's kind enough to be behind the camera right now shooting this video on a distraction device called my iPhone. And what happens? I'm sitting here, sitting across from our marketing director, and all of a sudden I hear my phone buzz. Oh, I'm in the middle of working on my computer. Oh, what was that? Oh, what's this? Here I was having a conference call with our business development director this morning for blue collar, and all of a sudden she's like, oh, hey, look at this email that I just got. I'm like, well, I'm on the phone with you. What are you doing? What are you talking about? Think about distractions. How can you compartmentalize these? Here's one way. Chunk your time. Create sacred time for yourself. Block. It can only be 15, 20 minutes at a time, but you've had that experience. What do you say? I'm going to go in for a couple hours on Saturday. Why? I can get more done in a couple hours than I can all week. Because it's quiet, because nobody's around. Nobody's coming and creating distractions. And create some space with your team. Train them that okay, my door shut. It doesn't mean I don't love you, doesn't mean I don't care about you, but I need a little bit of space. Also, look at how does your body work? How does your mind work? When are you most productive? Schedule Your time, according to that. Some people are far better off in the morning, right? Sometimes when you get up, you got the fire going, perhaps you got the caffeine buzz going from the coffee. And you can be a little bit more productive in that manner. So do some of your more difficult tasks, the things that really are exhausting to you. Other people are the other way around. They're slow starters. It takes a little bit of time to get rolling. Maybe early afternoon, after lunch, they might be at their best. I want you to really look at those things and think about those. This is about you, my friends. We got the second quarter coming. It's a new day. It's a new time. Spring is here across the country, except I know, in the Northeast. Sorry. We had a phenomenal mastermind group call yesterday with our coaching group, and one of our members is up in the Boston area and he said, man, it's been great. The snow's been known for two days. We're down to six feet, right? So trust me, it's coming for you too, up in the Northeast. But what it's all about your productivity, what you're going to do, how you're going to handle things a little differently in the second quarter than you did the first. We're two weeks away. Wipe the first quarter clean. I don't care how good it was. I don't care how bad it was. It's a new day. It's time. It's go time. You've got more and I want to see it until we talk again. Have a better than fantastic day.
