Secret to Exponential Growth

A short motivational video by Kenny Chapman (the Blue Collar Coach) advising viewers that exponential personal and business growth comes from raising one’s standards. He argues life outcomes (income, relationships, health) mirror internal standards, stresses clarity, peer group/mentors, and turning goals into non-negotiable “musts”; closes with a personal anecdote about his relationship and a holiday trip.

Hey, my friend Kenny Chapman here, the blue collar coach, your partner in profitability. I want to talk to you today about a little secret. And there are so many things on the Internet, secrets to this, secrets to that. All I need secret is reminding you of something you probably already know anyway. But here's my secret for you today for exponential growth, and that is raise your standards. See, your life is a reflection of of the standards that you've set. Your life, your weight, your income, your personal relationships, your finances, everything is a simple reflection of the standards you've set in your mind. Think about 10 years ago to right now. Do you make more money than you did 10 years ago? You probably do. If you're watching this, there's a really good chance that you do. And now if I was in a seminar setting, I would ask you raise your hand and if you're still not making enough and most of the hands in the entire room will go up. So what does that mean? Well, you have a different standard today than you did 10 years ago, and therefore your income's at a different level. But perhaps you haven't set a new standard of what you really want that to look like. So everything in your life and your business is tied to the standard that you set. Now, that's tough because we come from past conditioning. I've talked about that a lot in the past. Your parents, your peers, your past experiences all impact these things, influence these things. But ultimately today, when it comes to your business, your life, where you're at, if you want exponential growth, you have to think a different set of standards for yourself. So what does that mean? It means raise the bar. It means that however happy you are in your marriage, it's about a standard. The lovely Christy and I ended up finding each other because we had a higher standard for what a marriage should look like, for what a personal relationship would. Relationship, easy for me to say. Would look like compared to perhaps our exes might have nothing against them. They just had different reality, a different desire and different goals. What about you? This is your life. This is your business. This is your lifetime right now to make something happen. So I'm asking you think about it. Just first thing, get clarity. Just like I wrote about in the six dimensions of change, it's the first dimension. Get clear about where you are today, what that looks like, what you think about. How does that feel? When you think about your life situation, the company you've created and the team members that you've surrounded yourself with, then what's your peer group look like? Who are you looking to for mentoring mentors? Who's helping you? Who's coaching you? Who's helping you grow? There's a reason there's a football team, there's a coach, there's somebody in the skybox. Everybody's trying to execute. You've got to do the same thing with your life. Your peers are a reflection, your standards are a reflection, your mentors are a reflection. And ultimately your action is a reflection. See, when you have higher standards, you make things that sometimes we say should happen, then we make them a must. Tony Robbins says we're a reflection of our musts, not our goals. I agree 100% with that. You can set goals. Until you make it a must, nothing's going to change in your life or your business. So today we head into the great holiday weekend here in the US we're ready to take a break, get some free time, get charged up, plug in, get our energy back if that's what we need, spend some time, have some great quality time with friends and family. Christy and I are going to Aspen for the weekend with 15, 18 friends. I think it is that that's what it's all about. But it takes raising a standard in your own life. I challenge you today. Think about what that is. When you make it a must to raise your standard, your life situation will improve, I guarantee it. I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach. Until we talk again, have a better than fantastic day and a phenomenal holiday weekend. We'll talk to you soon.
