The Edge of Your Power

A short YouTube video (Freedom Friday Focus) by Kenny Chapman, the "blue collar coach," recorded during a planning retreat in South Florida. Chapman urges leaders and coaches to tap into their own authenticity and personal power so they can hold themselves and their teams accountable, help others grow, and push past the “edge” where many stop short. The message frames leadership as a responsibility tied to helping employees exceed prior limits.

Hey, everybody. Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach, coming to you live with this week's edition of the video version of Freedom Friday Focus. I'm in South Florida this week doing a planning retreat. A week long situation where we're really diving in and uncovering the big rocks that need to be moved and really understanding the direction that we want to go and how we want to bring our power to more people and more of our followers and make a difference and impact things in a positive way. And with it just really made me want to speak today about your own power. And you know, I don't want you to look at this. Oh, this is just a soft topic today. Kenny's not giving us a good how to take away because the reality is all the how to takeaways don't matter a bit without getting in touch with who you really are and who you really want to be. And those of you that follow me a lot know that this is a big message of mine, but it all ties back to your power and what you want to do. And I've had some quality conversations with clients this week about really tapping into their power. This week we're talking about the edge of your power. So many people kind of get right there just to the little edge of it and won't push through and tap in and hold themselves accountable and hold their team members accountable for what's possible. Realize this, if you're not holding your team accountable, you're hurting them. People aren't taught to really do more than they think that they can. You know, this economic downturn that we're beginning to kind of come out of, hopefully we think that, you know, many of us have made adjustments in our own companies. I know I have back home and in my own contracting business. And I've seen my clients do it time and time again. And what happens is people have had to dig deeper. People have had to get better. You're a leader, you're a coach, you're a trainer. This is about you being the very best you can be to help them tap into something that sometimes they haven't been shown. Leadership is a responsibility, my friends. And if you're training them and if you're coaching them, then you're assuming this responsibility to help them become more than they were yesterday, than they were the week before, than they were when they worked somewhere else. If you cut them a check, if they're on your payroll, then you have the responsibility to help them tap into their power. The best way for you to do this is to tap into your own power, your own authenticity. That's what this week is all about. I want you to think about this this weekend as you really ponder and think about your own power. Where are you not tapping in? Where are you not giving it? Everything that you've given got? When it comes to being all that you can be, I'm Kenny Chapman, the blue collar coach. I want to thank you for being with me here this week. And until we talk again, have a better than fantastic week and I'll see you next.
