Your Opportunity is Stuck

Short video transcript by Kenny Chapman advising salespeople and technicians to return to fundamentals when opportunities slow or they enter a slump. Uses a baseball batting-cage analogy to recommend practicing basics (foot position, balance, swing plane), focusing on relationship-building, asking questions, and aiming for singles/doubles rather than always swinging for home runs. Ends with a motivational call to "get unstuck."

Hey, everybody. Kenny Chapman here, coming to you with this week's version of Freedom Friday Focus in video form. And this week, we're talking about the fact that your opportunity is stuck. And I'm here to tell you that your opportunity is stuck right here. I've been on the road a lot lately, traveling like crazy. Had to come to you last week from DFW in the airport. And, you know, as I speak and as I train and spend time with some of the greatest frontline salespeople out there that I see, that, you know, sometimes things slow down a little bit. Maybe call count goes down, maybe opportunity seems to get a little bit less. And we kind of mirror that as technicians and selling techs and salespeople. And one of the things that we need to be mindful of is we need to get back to the basics, back to the fundamentals. I was doing one of my virtual training sessions yesterday, and I got a great response, an email back from service manager of the company I was training. And he said, man, Kenny, you do such a great job of taking the same fundamentals but rewording them and putting them in a different light to help us focus on those things. And, ladies and gentlemen, that's what this is all about. If you're not getting the results that you want, if you're not accomplishing the goals that you want, we need to take a step back to the fundamentals. I'm a big advocate of focusing on fundamentals while growing our other top end skills. I'm not saying that we do fundamentals, but it's critically important. And as I wrote about today, you know, if you take a Major League baseball player, he doesn't get out there and start taking pitches and swinging for the fence every single time. When he's in a funk or in a slump and it happens to everybody, he goes into that batting cage and works on his foot position and works on his balance and his bat position in his hand, his swing plane, making sure that he's shifting his weight at the right time to drive the ball and in order to hit singles and doubles, not home runs every time. Now, how's that any different for us? Sometimes we need to get back to the basics. Maybe we need to hit some singles and doubles and not worry about some of those home runs that come as our confidence goes. Work on those basics of building a connection with your potential clients. Ask them questions, focus on the relationship. If you don't get good information from them. When you sit down to present something and go through your option sheet of what's possible in their home. All they can judge you on is price. And I see this way too often when I'm out in the field riding with some great technicians. So this is about you. This is about your time. This is an opportunity for me to remind you that possibly your opportunity is stuck. Get unstuck this weekend, my friends, and have a better than fantastic week. I look forward to seeing you soon.
