Crowe Clips - Mediums for Stages

Kimberly Crowe breaks down how to pick a platform for hosting: audio-only like Clubhouse, or audio plus video on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok. Match the medium to your audience. Her LinkedIn network of 18,000 corporate connections works differently than Facebook for entrepreneurs.

So you can decide to be a show host. And the way that many shows happen are lots and lots of different medium. So you can host a show on Clubhouse with your iPhone. If you have an iPhone, you can host a show, a regular show, in a regular room on Clubhouse on your iPhone or smartphone, as long as you are. As long as you sign up for Clubhouse. Ginny and I actually did do a Clubhouse stage at one time. We didn't need to buy anything new. We had exactly what we needed. We just decided to launch a show. Um, and we did it for one, actually two sessions, I think, and then we stopped because it's not really our medium. Our medium is very much visual. It's fun and big and loud, but it also includes visual. Right? So we, we, we really rely on that, that people can come on screen and show their face and things like that. Can't do that with Clubhouse. So the reason that I bring that up is because you want to choose a medium that really, really works for you. And also, P.S. it has to work for your audience as well. So if you are really good at LinkedIn, you might want to do LinkedIn lives. But if your people don't show up on LinkedIn, they show up on Facebook, you're in trouble, right? It's not going to do you a lot of good if all your people are somewhere else. So that is an example of mine, as a matter of fact. I had, I worked for many years in corporate and I have a huge following on LinkedIn. But when I decided to start working with entrepreneurs, they aren't really. They don't hang out on LinkedIn. They're very busy on Facebook trying to get people to see their stuff and to socialize and to grow their know, like and trust. It's an excellent medium for that. But I was the girl who said, I'm not going to use Facebook. That's just where people post pictures of their breakfast and their pets. I'm not wasting time on that. Right? I really was that girl. I actually thought those two things. And, and then eventually I started to embrace it. And that is where a lot of my shows are now, right? They're. They're broadcast or simulcast on Facebook. I don't simulcast, but I could. I don't simulcast on LinkedIn live because my people are not there. And also, even though I have 18,000 connections there, there are different kinds of connections. They're corporate people that I don't really sell to right now. So you want to be sure that you pick a medium that's going to cater to where your audience is and also something that you're comfortable with. All right, so you can do just audio. You can do audio and visual. If you do audio and visual, you're going to be able to repurpose that content in an incredibly powerful way as well. You can do live streams on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube Clubhouse. Where else can you live stream? Pinterest, I think. No, Pinterest does not have a live stream. What's the other one? TikTok. There's a lot of different formats where you can livestream. You could also hold an event every week. That is what Speakers Playhouse is. Speakers Playhouse is not currently live streamed anywhere. You have to physically come to the show and dial into Zoom in order to be a part of Speakers Playhouse. So does that blow your minds? Like, there's tons of different mediums that you can be on, and you just pick the one that your audience is going to show up to and the one that you're the most comfortable with, and then you decide, I want to be a show host.
