Sorry, Monica, I was on the wrong link. You were on the right one. So I was like, why are we not here?
Yeah, I was just like, am I on the wrong link? So I look like a couple times, and I'm like, okay, I am in the right link.
You are right. I was wrong. I was going through Zoom instead of hey, Summit, and it doesn't have this one. So. Awesome. Okay, so you're perfect. I'm gonna put it on gallery view. Do you want to put. I don't see Mercy in our chat yet, but she'll probably join in a sec. Hopefully she didn't get the wrong one, too.
So do you want to put your links in our chat box right now? Would you mind doing that?
Yeah, no, I don't mind.
And just, like, the freebie links.
Yeah. Do you have an affiliate link for your freebie and an affiliate link. Do you have anything else that you're gonna drop as well? I'm sorry. I'm coming. Coming after the last one ran super way over, so.
No, you're fine. I do not have affiliate link set up at this present moment, but is. I can make that.
Okay.
All right, let me go to the dashboard.
I mean, I might have made it.
I think you probably did.
In the speaker dashboard, there's.
You know what? Mercy, you're on. Do you have Monica's information for her links? Can you throw that in the chat box? She's on. You just can't see her here. She's my secret assistant.
Yeah. And, hey, I just want to let you know, sometimes my Internet just goes out for no reason. So I would, like. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but I will, like. Yeah, you just give me a minute or two. I'll come back.
Okay, Sounds good.
Yeah, I guess too many people use it and it just dies. I mean, just literally this cuts out, and then I come back on in, like, a minute.
Oh, my gosh. Okay, well, I'm gonna have Mercy go digging for that, and then you and I will go live. All right, you ready?
Sure.
Okay, here we go. Oh, let me get the title of your talk here. Content talks.
All right, so we're going to be talking about how to make money from your blog to grow and scale, right?
Yes.
Just grow and scale your business.
Okay, perfect. All right. And as people come in, if they decide to grab your link or purchase anything, you're tagging them as affiliate for us. Is that right?
Yes. I will be making sure that I keep track of who comes in and all that good stuff.
Thanks, Monica. All right. Here we go.
You're welcome.
All right.
She's passionate, she's fun, and she's inspiring. Let's welcome our host, Kimberly from Entrepreneurs Rocket Fuel Web Summit. And a warm welcome to you. Thanks for joining us. And we've got an exciting guest coming right up. Kimberly, take it away.
Well, hello, folks. It's Kimberly Hobscheid from Entrepreneurs Rocket Fuel and the Passive Income Web Summit. I am super excited. We have Monica Miller here with us. Monica is an expert on blogs. She's going to be talking to us about how to make money from your blog to grow and scale your business. This is a subject I know almost nothing about. Now I actually have blogs, but I don't know how to grow and scale my business with them. And this is something that I actually brought her on. I think it might have been just for me. So you guys get to listen while I learn how to do this stuff with blogs. Monica, welcome to the program.
Thank you so much for having me. I'm so excited to be here.
Well, we're really excited to have you. Thank you for carving time out of your day. So let's get started. First, I do need to make sure that we find out a little bit about your background first before we get started. So tell us how you got involved in doing blogs. How did you get started in this world?
Yeah. So I opened up my Entrepreneur doors in 2014, and through a series of events in life, I started blogging. And I remember people kept on asking me, how do you get the ideas? How do you stay consistent? And they just began asking me all these blogging questions. And from that really just spoiled what I do today, which is helping entrepreneurs getting more eyeballs onto their businesses through content. And part of that content is. Is through your blog.
Okay, great. So it's really just getting content out there and is like when I do videos, because I do. I do a lot of videos. Can you turn those videos into blogs?
Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Like, if you have videos, audios, anything like that, to me, that's all content. Okay, let's just. Yeah, it's all content. You could transcribe that, put it as a blog.
Okay. So you get it transcribed. And do you use, like, I. I'm in love with Otter AI. Do you know that, that, that at all? No. Okay, so I'm going to type that into the chat. Otter AI is. It's free and it's not calm. It's Otter AI. It's free. I. I don't know. You can do so many minutes, but I think it's like two hours worth of content and it will transcribe it every month for. For free. And you get it back in like 20 minutes or a half hour, depending on how long your thing is. And it's fully transcribed now. It's automatic. Like, it's not a human doing it. So there may be mistakes in it, but it comes back super fast. And you can edit that sort of. And would that make a good blog? Like, people talking and having that conversation?
Yes, yes. The only thing I would say you have to do is you have to structure it in like, that blog like form, which is just basically an intro, your points and a conclusion and a call to action, of course.
Awesome. Okay, so you. I'm gonna let you take it away. Do you have, like five main points that we're gonna cover or what? How are we gonna structure this?
Oh, I was gonna do. I was thinking Q and A style. You get to ask and I get to tell.
So if you have your questions ready for Monica, we definitely want to ask questions along the way. I know that I have actually I have two blogs. So I have one blog on my website for entrepreneurs, Rocket Fuel. And that one, it's basically a translation just what I was describing. I did a video, a lot of people hit it, and I was like, all right, that might make a good blog. And so I transcribed it with Otter AI. And then I had to clean it up a little bit. But then once it was cleaned up, I put it on my website for entrepreneurs, Rocket Fuel. I did that twice. I don't know if it's actually working. I don't know if it's doing anything. And then that I'd like to know what your opinion is about that and how I would know if it's doing anything. And then secondly, I have another one, and that's for my I'm Hearing Stories website. Now, I'm Hearing Stories is an audiobook company, but it's designed for authors, and authors love to read. They love to read more than they love to watch videos. So of course I have to have a blog for them. Now the blog that I do for them is actually interviewing the authors who have done books with us, audiobooks with us, and the narrators who've done them and the listeners who've listened to them. So. So it's really just interview style with them. It's not really any content from me. So I'd love to know your opinions on those two blogs of, you know, like, is that meaty enough? Should I change the format like, what do you like? What do you like? And not like about those.
Yeah, no, I think that's perfect. You know, authors do like to read. Like I'm an author. I don't. I love making videos. I can make videos all day long, but I will probably not watch your video.
I like to talk. Maybe I should be better at listening.
So I like to read. And I love that you went ahead and considered that and put a blog for your audio company, because that's perfect. One thing I would go back and I would definitely do, here's the number one thing I think this is for me, it's a make or break difference in if your blog is going to be successful, you need to have a purpose. Your purpose need to be, you know, what is your purpose? If you don't have a purpose, you don't really have a lot of content. And your content is going to be like spaghetti, you know, just flung everywhere, right? It's going to be. You need to have a purpose of like, okay, if I'm to help people, who am I helping? What are their questions? How am I answering their questions? What do I need to ask in order to get content? And I feel like once you have your purpose, if it's to inspire and educate, content will come from that purpose. And that's something I really just want to encourage everyone to just get clear on is your purpose. So if your purpose is to help authors turn their books into audio, then it needs to be answering their questions about how to turn their books into audiobooks. You know, it could go. And also interviewing the authors who have done their books and audiobooks because that's a great way to get real life people involved in your blog and to showcase these people done it and this is their success and you can have it too. And then you're getting in front of the other, you know, you're getting in front of other people audiences when you interview others because they're going to share your blog post to their audience. So it's an easy way to get in front of other people audience. So let me know if that was clear or we need to go back.
And that's what we tell entrepreneurs all the time. And also people who are trying to do passive income and people who are trying to, you know, create something and a movement in the world is really get clear on your purpose first so that you can have something to follow along. I want to get this toward there. I have a lot of questions on how to monetize a blog, but I just want to be sure. That I'm sort of on the right track. So if I have a purpose, then I have at least some content out there. I'm pointed down the right direction, which is great. But now I want to know how to monetize. Is it about SEO? Is it about keywords? Is it about, you know, getting it posted in the right places? Is it about cross blogging with other bloggers? How do I. Or is it just about dropping links to buy this kind of stuff? What do you think is really the way to turn that into. From work and things, Something that I'm doing into something that's actually generating cash? Because right now I think it's just making me work.
I think you have to figure out which way is the best way for you. Like, do you. What way do you want to make income? And I think after you answer that, it's going to give you the answer to how you want to make that passive income. For me, I want to sell more my stuff. So that means that if I have an online course, I'm promoted and selling my online course on my blog. If it's a workbook I'm selling, I'm promoting and selling my workbook on my blog, then of course I have to work on audience building. And that can come from guest blogging. Getting in front of other people, audiences, being on virtual summits is another way. Like this podcast. I mean, that's one way, because now you're talking and you get to tell people, go check out my blog. So you're building an audience there, of course, on social media, speaking and getting yourself out there. Yes, SEO does play a part in that. And I'm more focused on just getting your message out there, figuring out how you want to make money and then pursuing that. Because, let's be honest, they were all like, if you look up how to make money with a blog, I mean, how many blogs come up talking about how to make money? I mean, there could be a 50. Here are 50 ways to make money on your blog. But you just have to pursue what you want. For me, it's selling my stuff, but maybe for you, it's maybe putting ads on your blog. Maybe it's a mixture of ads and what you want to sell, like your courses or your services. And it's just about getting more traffic onto your blog so you can start building up that audience and start building a trusted fan base who will buy from you.
Okay, so this is another way for them to explore who you are and what you have to offer to build your credibility. Right. And then you would hook that onto something that is sort of an automated stream of income, like an online automated course or something like that.
Yes, yes. And one of the biggest ways you're going to make money from your blog is from getting people from your blog onto your email list, where you start building that relationship. So now we're kind of like getting into email marketing, but this is like one of the funnels to get in money and making money on your blog.
Awesome. So share with us maybe some of the success stories that you've had of things where you posted and you know, you've had content and what worked and maybe some of what didn't work.
Yeah. So what works for me is how to articles. Remember, people want to learn how to do something. I mean, how many questions go through our head? I wish I knew how to do that.
If you are expert in that area, you need to begin creating content or like how to do this, whatever your expertise is. And people like numbers list or listicles are great. People want numbers. So begin creating the five best secrets or the five best kept secrets.
Yes. You want to begin thinking about how to's secrets, Myths, busted myths. You know, you want to create that suspense in your content, especially in your headline. Because a headline is going to grab your audience and then they're going to read your content. Because in the content, that's where they're going to get the juice. Right? Get the meat of how do I do this? Step by step. Tutorials is also great, especially if you can take some time and do screenshots, if that is applicable, and use those screenshots to showcase why this is what you do. Especially if you're teaching like a system that you use, maybe auto IA or AI. There we go. Or maybe it could be asana or trello. You're showing people how to do a system, then you can break it down and write about a tutorial. So those are probably my best pieces of content.
What doesn't work is before we get.
Off that, I actually have a question about that. So a lot of people will put together a how to list. Like for example, I actually have a how to create an audiobook. It's a 60 days or less. If you guys were on last night, you saw that. If you weren't on last night, you need to check out the replay. Anyway, so it is a how to and it's 20 steps. But normally I actually sell that for $20 and then as a how to and then sometimes I will gift it to an audience in a group like last night, you got it gifted. But I don't know that I would want to put that on a blog because that's really something. That's a higher level. That's a. Either something that people are going to purchase or something that people are going to get as a gift for participating in something else that I'm doing. So how do you know what to put on as a how to?
Yeah, so if you. I'm noticing, like, you know, Kimberly, you have noticed. Okay, I got 20. You know, maybe you're a white in it. Then you came up with the 20 things and you're like, this is a lot of information. I should charge for this. You know, whenever you get a lot of information, then that probably means you need to, of course charge for it. But what if you took five of those ideas and put it out on a blog and then that way you could say, hey, you can pay $20 and get 15 other ideas right then in there. Yeah. And that's a good way to lead people.
You are a smart cookie. You're absolutely right. Okay, so here are the first five. If you want the other ones, click here. I totally get that. Okay. I, I feel stupid not to have thought of that, but that is totally. You're absolutely right. That's exactly what you need to do.
It is pre witted content too. So you don't have to do anything. You just copy and paste. Voila. There's your blog and video and audio.
Wonderful. Okay, great. All right, so we have some questions about keywords. Can you explain. Excuse me, how to use keywords to get people to your stuff.
How.
How to find what keywords to use. Do you have any idea about SEO? And I know nothing about this stuff, so anything you can share with us about that would be fantastic.
Okay, well, I will give you this caveat. So my expertise lies and like getting your voice out there, just getting your message, because your message is going to create that organic SEO for you. That's number one. Number two, you can always go onto Keyword Planner through Google and they will give you, of course, keywords. You could type in a keyword and see what, how much, how. Okay, how many keywords, not how many keywords, but how many hits they get. And you want to stay within like a thousand. I believe it's like 10,000 words or hits. That makes sense because you want to be broad enough where a lot of people are searching for it, but you also want to be narrow enough where your target audience is typing in this particular keyword. And it's going to be led directly to your blog. And you just want to be sprinkling those keywords into your blogs. So you want to come up with between 10 and 20 different keywords that goes with your topic and then sprinkle them into your blog. Here's one way you can do that. If you're like, I don't know about that, Monica, then you can write your blog and you're going to see your natural keywords in there. And then I would say go to keyword planner through Google, See maybe the words that you want to use and maybe the words you need to tweak and then add more of their words or take out some of their words. It really is really what fits and what doesn't fit. Another way you can use keywords is go to insert the public.com, answer the public.com and that. Okay, so that takes the frequently asked questions from Google and Bing and puts it into a nice little visual for you. So if you type in the keyword, say blog, right? You type in blog, it's going to come up with all these questions that people from Google and Bing have been asking, and it's going to put it in a video visual, and that is SEO keywords for you, number one, and number two is topics. So if you're struggling on SEO and topics, go to answerthepublic.com. there's this guy on the screen. He's not going to jump out at you or eat you or anything. So just type in the keyword and go.
I just went there and it looks like he's going to eat me. It does.
I know, right?
I know. He's thinking very seriously, like, tell me what you need and I'll get that for you. Like, it's super awesome. I totally. Okay. And then I typed in entrepreneurship and holy Moses. A lot of stuff came up that was. That was awesome.
That's the number one site I tell everyone to go to. I'm like, if you running out of ideas, go to answer the public. It's going to give you so much. And also those natural keywords are right there.
That's fantastic. So I'm just going to give you guys some of them on what came up when I put in entrepreneurship. So, like, who invented entrepreneurship? Who discovered entrepreneurship? Who coined the term entrepreneurship? And then they give you whys. Why is entrepreneurship important? Let's see. Why is entrepreneurship not for everyone? Why is entrepreneurship important in education? Why is entrepreneurship hard? And then it gives you the wish. So which entrepreneurship is best? Which best describes entrepreneurship which entrepreneurial benefits an economy, and then what, and then are. And then can. And then. So it takes all the questions where people started something with a question and whether it's why, which, how, who, what, where are can anything in there. And then it actually gives you the questions that people are asking. So you could make that. Now. Now tell me how to turn that title and into. I'm sorry, that question into a title. Do you just say how to or do you say like you do say the question like when, when can. Let's see, let me get a good one here. Can entrepreneurship be at a large company? And is that like a question that you could title a blog? That'd be awesome.
You can, yeah. So the thing is, you can title questions as your blog post because if someone's asking it, more than likely a lot of other people are asking it. So just form my blog posts are questions or you can say, you know how to know if entrepreneurship is for you, and you can write a whole blog post about how you should know or how would you know if entrepreneurship is for you?
Wow. And then as I scan down, it actually says something else about entrepreneurship versus. So entrepreneurship versus employees, entrepreneurship versus having a job, entrepreneurship versus intrapreneurship. I don't even know what that is, entrepreneurship or marketing. So I think that's really. Oh, my gosh, this was super cool. That's great.
It's a gold mine.
Oh, my gosh, that's a gold mine. That was genius. If you guys miss this, like, go do it right now. It's absolutely fantastic. Okay. Really, really good gold mine. All right, so we have some other questions. When you launch your product, what social media channel is best to use for your blogs?
Yeah. Okay, so this is where. This is what I say to my audience. You be on the social media that you want to use. Like, if you are going to be on a social media channel that you hate, don't go. Don't go there because you're not going to be active. You're not going to provide the value you want. So I say, first of all, you need to figure out where your audience is hanging on, you know, where they act on social media. And the second of all, you need to figure out what social media you like to be on and you enjoy being on. Because like I said, if you are not going to enjoy it, you are not going to show up. I can attest to that.
I am so glad you said that, because a lot of people will be like, oh, you need to be on Pinterest. You need to be on whatever, a Snapchat or whatever. And I'm like, I don't even know how to spell Snapchat. I don't actually even know. I don't think I do. I don't actually think I do. Maybe Instagram as well. I'm not really sure about that one. And I don't know. And I do have an amazing assistant who most of you know already. Her name is Mercy. She's in the background here, waving and smiling and making sure that we're awesome and doing great things for us in the background. But she's the one who posts for me on Pinterest and Instagram and I think Snapchat and Twitter and a whole bunch of others. I don't know how to use those, and I don't want to use those. But I show up in a really big way on Facebook and in my email marketing and on YouTube and because those are channels I know really well. So does it make sense to have, like, if I have that stuff and then I actually have a blog as well, to have somebody do my social media and post those other places in ways that would be appropriate for those other places?
Yes, if you are at that level of ready to hire out and get a va to do that for you. Because some of us, we're solopreneurs, so we are, you know, we have to do everything ourselves. So for the time being, just be on the platforms you like to be on and don't worry about everything else. And when the time comes, you will know it. You can hire out and get them to repurpose your content everywhere.
Awesome. Okay, great response. Fantastic. Thanks for that. All right, I want to talk a little bit more about things that you have done to monetize things that you've done to do like a set it and forget it. So you write these blogs. Maybe you schedule them out. I bet you schedule them out, right? Do you schedule them out for later?
Yeah, yeah, pretty much like week to week. That's kind of how I look.
Okay, all right. Make these blog posts and then you schedule them out to be released over time, which is great. And then how do you monetize? How do you turn it into cash in the bank?
Okay, so this is what this is like. This is probably one of my favorite subjects. So this is what I do. And I realize what I do may not be for everyone, and that's okay. I use my blog as the backbone of a lot of what I provide out into the world. So if, you know, for example, my online course is made up of like 75% of my blogs. You can find everything I put in my online course on my blogs. But of course it's going to be at different years, different months, all over the place. But I put it into a flow for my user to just bite off a small chunk here and then go in a flow to the next piece. Right. So that's how I make most of my money, is by turning my blogs into paying workshops. Maybe it's a speech, maybe it's a paid workbook or an online course. It can even go into my coaching programs that I have, whether it's my six month, my three month, or even mini programs I have coming up. Like I have a mini program coming up in June. So getting clients now and through that, it's all content from my blog and vice versa. So that's how I make money, is I repurpose my blog into payable digital assets for my business.
Okay, so you have some content that's available on your blog, but it leads them, you're so brilliant. Into content that's not available through your blog, but it actually leads them to like, it's like potato chips. You leave them wanting more. Right. You can't just have one.
Yes.
The rest of them. Got it. Okay, great. And so then that leads them into some other form of digital content which is already immediately available. I think that's where I'm going wrong. I think that I have the online courses, which is great. But a lot of the content that I have is like, hey, come to this live event. Right? Come to this live this web summit or whatever. And so a lot of my content is leading people to something that is not passive. And so the reason that I actually held this passive income web summit is to learn strategies to actually turn it into passive income. Because I love what I do. But eventually one day I'm not going to love what I do anymore and I'm going to need to turn it into some sort of passive income stream. So I think this is a, I think this is great that you actually have it lined up to attract people to a checklist or a workbook or something that they actually pay for.
Yeah. And you can also lead people to a webinar or to virtual summits like this or, you know, depending on where you're at in your marketing calendar, if you are selling a program or if you're selling an online course during that time frame, promote your online course. Let people know you got a course coming up or if you have made a mini course that leads to your online course. You can lead people through that free mini course and then to your online course.
How do I know if I have people reading my blog? How do I know, like for sure that there are people out there reading the blog?
Yeah, you would definitely go onto Google Analytics and look on there and you want to see. You can search by blog post and you can see what you know. You'll let you know if people are reading your blog and how long they're staying on it because it would give you that bounce rate or that bounce time. So you can definitely do it that way. And yeah, I was gonna say something else, but then I just. Yeah, okay, awesome.
I really, really appreciate it. Okay, so now I want to get into some of the, like, give me two or three of the posts that you've written that really got a really good turnout. Like people really engaged with them. And I know you said some how to ones, but maybe you can give us something specific. Like this blog did really well and this was the subject and this is what we got out of it. And then I'm leading to your gift, actually, because you have some really great stuff for us and I'm excited about it because what you're going to give us is ideas for creating blogs. And. And I'm super excited about that. So that's coming, guys. Hang on for that. But Monica, share with us maybe one of your posts that did really well and what the story was behind that.
Yeah, so, okay, so I will have to say, like, this is before I really got into blogging, but it's probably been one of my best posts is I talked about why people should join a toastmaster group. And I wrote this several years ago. And whenever I look at my Google Analytics, it is one of my top blog posts because Toastmasters is an international entity, so it gets a lot of traffic to that word anyways. And I put that word in my head, my title, and I just talked about why I felt like people should get into Toastmasters, especially if they want to begin speaking and presenting and doing more videos. And so I wrote that a couple years ago and I don't really know if I got anything from that specifically because at that time I was not having really effective call to actions. But I have gotten good.
I guess good, not feedback, that's not the right word, but good traction. Yeah. Viewership. Yeah. And traction from those. From a couple of webinars I was doing and it was all about how to market your business.
So I love this in particular, Monica, because you are Doing exactly what I tell people to do in entrepreneurship and in passive income is go ahead and try something, and if it works, then purify it, make it better, make it even better and better. And you can do that if you have tried something. So you actually put a blog out there. It was on Toastmasters and. And then it was successful. And then you were like, all right, what can I do with this in order to make sure that I'm tracking it better next time or having a better call to action? I like it a lot. Really, really cool. And it just proves that done is better than perfect. You might as well get content out there, see what has traction, and then follow it on and keep going. Because if you try something and it doesn't work, it's not because it doesn't work. It's because your traction didn't hit just yet. You may take 2, 3, 5, 10 different blog posts before you start getting traction and the results you're looking for. Is that right?
Yeah. And you have to remember people are not going to just come to your blog. Like you have to go to the people. So that's why I'm always saying we purpose your content. Once you have a blog post, we purpose it into social media posts, we purpose it into newsletters posts, we purpose it into a video, an audio we start. We purpose in that. That's a good goldmind of your brilliance in a blog post. So it's time that you start repurposing it. Get in front of your target audience, where they are at, and they will come to you. That's how you build leadership and community, is by going to them.
Awesome. So.
If we have content that we want to get out and we know the subjects that people are going to like, what should we do in order to create it into a blog post? Do we do a video first? Do we just start writing? Or do you just do what's best for you? Like for me, you know, if you made me sit down in a room and write for, you know, three or four hours of blog posts, I'd get up and leave like, I just couldn't do that. But if I do a video and then maybe I can have somebody else repurpose that into a blog, maybe that's the way for me to go. Should we just go with that or should we just really start home honing our skills?
I agree with you, Kimberly. I feel like you should start wherever you like because like, you, if you know you're not going to sit down and write, don't torture yourself. Because you're not going to show up as brilliantly. Right? You're going to show up differently. You're going to show up differently when your own video versus content. So yes, if you are like, I don't want to do a blog, then do a video and transcribe that and get some, you know, then from there, after you transcribe it, you can formulate it into a blog. And my cat's gonna join me.
That's right. Your sound is coming through beautifully, but your video is a little bit delayed. And so now we see the cat. It's awesome.
Okay.
But everything's coming through beautifully in your sound. So fantastic. I'm gonna go ahead and put a link in and that is your blog post ideas. Now this is really, really valuable. Tell us what they're going to get in this.
Oh, my goodness. You are going to get 30 blog post ideas for your next blog. Okay? Now I don't want you to limit yourself just to these blogs. This is 30 ideas for your next social media post. 30 ideas for your next newsletter. 30 ideas for your next audio or video. Yes, I was getting to that. You know, or perhaps it could be even an idea for your next digital media kit or something that you can offer and make some money from. So I want you to download it so you can start thinking.
How can I get that into, how can I begin taking that content and begin creating more content in the way.
I love, I love this because when I went to your thing, I actually have to do it on my phone because I actually have the, I have my apps up here on my computer, so I wanted to do it on my phone. And it's really cool. You should actually follow her model because as you get the downloadable, you can get the downloadable for free. But then she has these other little seven dollar things that you can buy along the way as well. And they all sound like really good goodies. So that is.
So awesome. I love the way you show up. That's fantastic. All right, cool.
Thank you, Kimberly.
These 30 ideas, these are things that you can make videos on and different ideas that can spark you. Like, I can't tell you how many people I talk to and they're like, I don't even know what to talk about. I don't know what to write. And I'll talk to them about creating a video channel and they're like, I don't even know what to put on there. Well, these are great idea sparkers and I think I really appreciate you getting this to our group. Now, clearly you are the expert in blogging. So if we want to know more, like, do you have a course or do you have anything that people can engage with? Yeah.
So if you are interested in getting your blog business onto a blogging platform, I do have an online course called the Confident Blogger. And in this course, you are going to walk through the steps, right, on how to define your purpose, how do you create content, how do you put this content into a content calendar, and then of course, how do you make money from it and how do you start getting traffic it as well? So it's called the Confident Blogger. Go from unknown to unforgettable.
From unknown to unforgettable.
Yes.
You and I need to work more closely together because I'm always saying if you're not being seen, you're being overlooked. If you're not being heard, your message is not getting out there. You need to be seen and heard and you need to be clear on your message. So I love it. You and I absolutely should work together on that because I agree completely with that. That's fantastic. All right, well, what do we do first, like, when we get off the web summit? You can't do it right now, ladies and gentlemen, because you got more web summit to watch. But like, when we finish the web summit tonight, what's one step that we can take to move forward on a blog for ourselves?
Okay, I'm so happy you asked that. First of all, right, now download the 30 blog first ideas and then once you have that, then the next step is to begin creating ideas for from that. Download it, print it off, and then begin creating, like, maybe just come up with five ideas. Just five ideas. If you want to put little bullet points underneath the idea. So, you know, like, okay, this is where I'm going with this. Do that. And then the next step after that is to schedule in your calendar when you're going to write your first blog post.
I was on mute. I love that idea. Put it in your calendar of when you're going to do it. I love that idea because I'm not a fan of the to do list. I don't think you should have a list of things to do. I think you should have calendar items for when you're going to do them and accomplish them. So I love that. Monica, way to have that. Be accountable. Yes. So, and don't schedule it in, like, June. Schedule it in, like, right away. In fact, you guys might be watching this replay in June. Definitely. If you're watching it, don't schedule it for next June. Like two, maybe, maybe three weeks out, you could really knock it out in a week. You could really knock it out for sure. 48 hours. But I will give you the opportunity to do it like two to three weeks out. Just don't schedule it for so far out that you're really never going to get around to it. And trust yourself. Trust yourself and what you want to be able to put out there in the world. And what I'll give you for advice, Audio, and it works really well. Or video, and it works really well for blog posting as well. If people are coming to you, asking you to pick your brain about a particular subject, that's a great idea for content, right? If they come to you, hey, Monica, like, there were questions in the chat here. Hey, Monica, what's the best platform to use? Hey, Monica, what do we do about SEO? Hey, Monica, what about keywords? Those are all really great posts. From now on, that's a really great idea. So if people ask you questions along the way, or maybe they're posting questions, or maybe they're sending you questions on your website, those are great questions to answer in content. And now if only I could get my blog going, I would be able to do that and answer it in written form as well. One cool thing, and the reason that I had Monica on this web summit is because I really am very strong in video and I really am very strong in audio, but I'm not strong in blogging. And the thing is, there are people out there who are readers and there are people who are watching video. And I just talked last night about how if you have a book and you're ignoring audiobooks, that you're ignoring a part of the population that only listens to audiobooks. The reverse is true for me. If I don't have a blog, I'm ignoring my audience members who may want to engage with me. But don't do blog. Don't do video. They only do blogs. In fact, I just had a response. We send out. When people first engage with us, we send out a response, hey, join Facebook. We would love to have you in the Facebook community. And for the first time in a year and a half, I actually got a response back saying, I don't do Facebook. I never have. I never will. I'm totally against it. And I was like, wow, all right, well, I need to find a different way to engage with this person.
So.
So maybe she's a blog reader. I don't know. Maybe I'll engage with her as a blog.
Yeah, that'd be A perfect idea. And you said something earlier and it just slipped my mind. Don't you just hate that?
I do.
I talk at like five different subjects and I mean, people talk to me about that all the time. Like, slow down, Kimberly, we need to catch up with you.
You're fine. But no, I just love that. And you know. Oh, yeah, I knew I was going to say, so I am working with my coach and one of the things I'm doing with her because she's just like you, Kimberly. She shows up big time on Facebook Live and Facebook, all that. Right. But she's not good at showing up on blogs. So she's hired me to help write her blogs so she can start directing people to her blogs. And because of that, it's really funny. She was telling me, she's like, yeah, I got someone from following me and they're always commenting on my blogs and commented, you know, like maybe messaging me and letting me know how great it was. And she was like, oh, yeah, she's like an ideal client too. And she wasn't. Yes. She wasn't showing up on the video, you know, coming on her live videos. So she found another way to show up for this woman, even if it's just one person. She was showing up for her through her blogs and she hired me to do. To help her with her blog content.
Well, you just gave us a great technique. If you guys don't know how to do blogs and you're just not going to do blogs. Monica has a done for you service, apparently. Is that right?
I do, I do.
And do you have a team of people that write with you or other people that if you get too full, you can direct us to other people in your team who can?
Yes.
Okay. Awesome.
Yep.
Well, fantastic. I think that's a really good place for us to end it. We are at time, but I didn't know that you actually had a done for you service. So I'm super excited to hear about that. I think you and I, we might need to work together.
Yeah. I was thinking, I was just like, yeah, because I got something else for.
You because I am not good at that. But I do have a lot of content and I think if we could repurpose it in some way in a very effective way and have somebody that really knew what they were doing with SEO and with all that stuff, that we should definitely engage with you. All right, so you heard her. If you guys need your blog posts done from video or from any other content that you have, check it out. Get her Downloadable. Engage with her and then ask her about her. Done for you. Service. Fantastic. Monica, I am super excited. Really appreciate you being here with our crowd today. Thank you so much for carving time out of your schedule.
Thank you for having me, Kimberly. I had a blast.
Absolutely. And one, before we let you go, I'm going to get my outro music out and we're going to dance off. But before we do, tell me, do you have any last words for our crew? Any words of inspiration?
Yes. Write imperfectly. I mean, we get stopped in being perfect. We have to have everything together. No, you don't. The role doesn't care about you being perfect. It cares about your message. Get your message out there. Write messy.
Oh, I love it. Right? Messy. That's fantastic. If you guys were on my last invite list to go to my last web summit, it actually talked in my voice, and it was super fun. It was like, so. So there's this web summit coming up, and it's totally free. And then you say, what? Totally free? And I say, absolutely, totally free. And it actually happened, like, back and forth. And it was messy and funny, and I got so many comments on it that it was like, not perfect English and, you know, heck, yeah, I was in there and some other stuff. It was just hysterical and people really engaged with it. So I agree with you 100%. Definitely do that and write messy because done, ladies and gentlemen, done is better than perfect. I totally agree with that.
Yep.
All right, guys, up next, we actually have Marguerite Bonet. She's going to talk about the future of work. Earning passive income with virtual offices. This is going to be super cool. She's going to talk to us about how to have a go into a virtual gamified space and make passive income with it. Super cool. All right, here's our outro music. Monica, thanks so much for being here. You were awesome. You did great.
Thanks.
All right, we're gonna dance out.
Monica was an amazing expert. We're here with Julie, who is the rocket fuel for entrepreneurs. She's on a mission to help you launch your business to new heights. Nobody lives out loud better than Kimberly.
It.
