Hey, folks, it's Kimberly. And I am so excited that it's 2020. I'm really excited because it's no longer 2019. You know what? 2019 was so last year. In fact, I have 19 things that I'm going to leave behind in 2019, and I encourage you to do the same, because 2020 is a whole new year. Are you ready? So number one thing to leave behind in 2020, number one is perfection. That's right. Perfection is really done. Is better than perfect. If we get ourselves out there and we put ourselves out in the best we possibly can and do our best, it's never going to be perfect. And you know what? That's okay. I'm leaving perfection behind in 2019. That was so last year. All right, number two is mediocrity. I'm done settling for mediocre. I'm looking for the extraordinary, the outstanding experience. Sometimes they'll be bad, sometimes they'll be good. But I'm done with settling for mediocre. Right. 2019 was for mediocre. 2020. It's going to be amazing. One direction or another. All right, number three, procrastination. You know what? This list of 19 things, it was going to be recorded in 2019, and I was going to get it out in 2020. But you know what? That didn't happen. Because why? Because I procrastinated in 2019. But in 2020, that is so last year. So procrastination, it's over. We're now in 2020, and procrastination is behind us. Number four, food that is not delicious. That's right. I find myself eating food in 2019 and pretty much every other year, and I'm like, why am I eating this? It doesn't even taste good. And I'm not really sure that there is an answer to that question. So I'm leaving that behind in 2019. So last year, food that isn't delicious. This year, only, food that's delicious. Are you with me? Number five, talking down about yourself, that is so 2019. In fact, it was probably 2005. We should have left that behind a long time ago. Talking down about ourselves doesn't do anybody any good, least of all you and least of all me. So I'm leaving that behind in 2019. It's not worth bringing forward into 2020. 2020 is a whole new year. No talking down about myself. And as a matter of fact, to follow that on, also leaving behind in 2019, talking down about others, because as much fun as it seems to Be to stand in a water cooler and complain about your co worker or complain about the person that delivers your mail or complain about whoever. It doesn't matter. It isn't worth the time we spend or the breath that we spend on it. Talking about and doubt about others doesn't do anybody any good energetically, and it doesn't do you any good, and it doesn't do me any good. So we're leaving that behind in 2019 for bringing a whole new world into 2020. No longer talking down about others. Number seven, excuses. Yeah. Why? Why do we have excuses? There's no excuse for excuses, really. We just say them to try to make ourselves feel better or other people feel better, but there's no excuse for excuses. That was so last year. Leaving that one behind in 2019. Number eight, alarms. That's right. You know when you wake up to an alarm and it shocks you out of a really nice dream or a really nice sleep and alarms, that's really not a thing. It shouldn't have to be a thing. If you go to sleep and then you wake up naturally, that's how it should happen, because that's natural and that's what your body wants. So maybe go to sleep a little bit early or just maybe wake yourself up at a normal hour. Either way, alarms, they're not a thing. Coming with me into 2020. In fact, I left them behind about halfway through 2019. That is so 2019. All right, number nine, comparing yourself to others. What is the reason for that? Who thought that up? It's really not a very good idea comparing yourself to others, because you're not them, they're not you. And of course you're not doing the same things they're doing, because they have their own path, their own life to live. They're on a different path than yours, and theirs is perfectly fine for them, and yours is perfectly fine for you. So there's no reason. There's no reason to bring that into 2020. Let's leave that one behind. How about number 10? This one's pretty random. How about escalators? There's no need for escalators. There's the stairs, Right? So for me, I'm leaving escalators behind in 2019. That was so last year. 2020. No escalators for me. Number 11, saying yes to things I really don't want to do. So sometimes we do that, right? There are things that our kids want or our loved ones want or our friends want or even our clients want that we really don't want. To do that we don't want to provide that we don't want to be there for that we don't want to do. Now, I think we've all said yes to too many things that we really didn't want to do. So that I'm leaving behind in 2019. I'm only going to do the things that I really want to do. Now, if I think I don't want to do it and I think about it and I change my mind and I do want to do it, I'm not going to be afraid to say yes to it. But I'm not going to say yes to things I don't really want to do. Number 12 is the opposite of that. Saying no to things that I really do want to do. I mean, what if I'm like, I really do want to jump out of an airplane in Cabo San Locus? I. I think I'm going to do it rather than just saying no. That doesn't seem reasonable. Have you updated your will yet? Is it really a thing that you want to do? Are you just doing peer pressure? I'm going to do it. I actually really want to do that. So that 2019, I'm leaving that behind. Saying no to things that I really want to do. I actually going to do them in 2020 because this is a whole new year, ladies and gentlemen. All right, number. Where are we? Number 13. Screens after 9pm yeah, I'm not really a TV watcher, but somebody was talking about shutting off screens at 9pm I think it's a good rule having screens just on all night long in your bedroom or in the hotel room or wherever you are. No, it's not a thing. 2020. It's not a thing. It's a thing from 2019. Leave it behind in 2019. All right, number 14. Distractions. Oh, yes. Multitasking, also not a thing. Multitasking isn't even actually scientifically possible. And some people say women are better at it than men and some somehow that seems like it's a justification. But no, you're actually dropping one task to pick up another task and then dropping that task to pick up the past task. So multitasking, it's not really a thing. Very 2019. Let's leave it behind in that year in 2020. No multitasking, no distractions. Number 15. Ooh, this one's a big one. And I see a lot of entrepreneurs fall into it because they have a business and they talk about how busy they are in their business and really that's not necessarily. It depends on what you're doing. But it's not necessarily business. It's really busyness because we want to feel like we're busy and we want to feel like we're important. So we do things that keep us busy. But it's not really business, right? I'm talking about things like color coding your files and reorganizing your desk. And maybe your desk does need to be organized and maybe it needs to be reorganized, maybe every month, but just doing it for the sake of keeping busy. Not a good idea for me. That is so 2019, and I'm not bringing it forward with me in 2020. So in 2020, no business. Only business during business hours. Number 16, naysayers. That is totally 2019. I don't need any naysayers. If I'm going to try and do something and I'm up for the task and I'm building my courage for it and I'm going to do it, like jumping out of an airplane in Costa Rica or Cabo San Lucas or, or wherever I jump out of an airplane, it's going to be a thing. And people who are like, no, I don't really think that's a smart thing. I don't need to listen to them. Right? I mean, come on, it's like lots of people have done it. It's a good idea, right? I think it's a good idea. Starting to second guess myself on that. But maybe that's the next one is no second guessing yourself. Trust your instincts, right? Trusting your instincts is a really important thing. It's your gut. It's natural, it's important. You got to be paying attention to your own instincts. Alright, next one. Clutter. That's right. Next One is number 18, clutter. Things that just fill up your life. Now, it's not busyness if you're clearing away clutter. It's busyness if you're moving clutter around. All right, so I'm going in, clearing out the clutter of my life. And actually it's been a thing for me. In 2019, 2018 and 2017, I read a great book called clear your clutter with feng shui, which was fantastic. You all should get that immediately. I think it's in audiobook form as well. Clear your clutter with feng shui. And it, it actually talks about how you need to set stuff free in the world so somebody else can enjoy it. In your world, it's clutter. In their world, it's something to love. So get it out, get it over to them. Let them have a chance to love it. All. Right, so that's number 18, clutter. And number 19, the 19th thing that I'm going to leave behind in 2019, doing it all myself. That's right. No more doing it all myself. I'm going to ask for help when I need help. I'm going to farm things out to vendors and partners and let people who do it better than I am do it better than I am than me. I am not going to try to do it all myself in 2020. You know why? Because that was so last year. So I hope this has been helpful for you. 19 things to leave behind in 2019. Because 2019, that was so last year. 2020, a whole new year. I look forward to working with you. Cheers.
