Time Hacks for Entrepreneurs

My name is Kimberly Hobscheid and I'm the founder of Entrepreneurs Rocket Fuel, a Facebook community of hundreds of entrepreneurs who are making a massive impact in the world. Now, I worked in corporate for 17 years and know what it's like to have a large team and the processes, systems and people in place to make a business run. But for most entrepreneurs, that all seems way out of reach. But when I started my business, it was kind of exciting to do it all right. It was a new opportunity to learn. Creating my website, building sales funnels, online courses, creating email campaigns, setting up a CRM. And as a working mom, I was proud to show my kids that I could make it all happen. I did love playing with my website and following up with individual leads even though they weren't qualified. And I loved creating new funnels. Until one day I didn't. I craved the ability to offload something to my staff and it was just me. Suddenly I felt overwhelmed. No partners, no staff, no one else in my business. I had to be sales, delivery, operations, legal, all of it. Yes, it was all stuff that needed to get done, but it wasn't what I wanted to be spending my time on. And worse, I no longer had time to spend on the stuff I really did love to do, like creating new relationships, getting on st, serving my clients, inspiring people and helping them get to where they wanted to go. And I was spending almost no time with my family. Have you ever been in that place where you were shocked to suddenly realize that this is the life you're living and it's not exactly what you pictured. This is actually a life you built for yourself, the life of an entrepreneur. But you wanted to offload some of the tasks and processes. Unfortunately, it's only you and your business. That was me. Overwhelmed with a drudgery of tasks that took time away from the parts of the business that I really loved. Time away from my family. My daily list of to do's was long and it was not aligned with what I wanted to do. I was working a ton of hours. One night as I was going through my email, my daughter came to me and said, you look really tired mom, are you still having fun? And I realized at that moment, no, I was not having fun. I was just working really hard at the business of running a business. And I realized that it was actually the business working me and it wasn't paying me enough to do it. So that day I decided I was going to find my way back. I needed to find the road back to being a joyful entrepreneur. I decided that I would spend the greatest percentage of my time on the parts of my business that I really loved, that I relished, that made my heart sing and I would do my level best to offload all the rest. So I took a pad and paper and separated these things into four categories and that created the system I use today in my own business. The four categories can be remembered as R O A D Road to Joy. R is for relish. All of the things that I truly enjoy doing go into this category and they stay there as long as I love doing them. And then if I ever stop loving doing them, they go into one of the other three categories. The next category is O which is for outsource. Now I was fortunate enough to learn how to outsource in my business. Now follow up Client management, marketing, emails, Facebook posts. All of that can be done for a few dollars an hour, maybe 300 to $1,000 per month for a full time administrative assistant or technical person. In my program, I show entrepreneurs exactly how to find virtual assistants, how to screen and qualify them, how to hire them, pay them, what to give them, how to train them, and how to manage them on the job. Then A A is for automate. Automation is a wonderful way to take tasks off your plate. But even better, automation never forgets. Once you automate a process, it stays in place and never forgets to follow through until you change your process.
