A coach needs battle scars from building and exiting a company to ask hard questions and mirror clients' problems. A 22-year-old hasn't lived enough to do that work well.

This may offend some people, but it's almost impossible for a 22-year-old to be a great coach. One of the most important things in coaching is not only asking great questions and drawing the inner wisdom out of the client, but it's also being able to lean on that experience. And having grown a real company, having had an exit, allows me to draw on that deep experience and running into the same kind of problems and being able to mirror that back to the client and ask them the really difficult questions. Usually it's not even what I did right, but it's the the things that I did wrong and the mistakes that I made along the way. So unless you have those battle scars, it's incredibly difficult to be an effective coach, at least in business.
