Two people debate whether purpose can be found or must emerge naturally. One argues it's like love, something you can't force. The other says you need to do internal work first, healing old wounds so new purpose can surface from a clean slate rather than old stories.

What is purpose? I think it's something you love that you just can't stop doing. What do you love? The only thing I'm sure of is my wife. If I didn't have my wife today, could I go out and force love to happen? No, I couldn't. So then why do I think I can force purpose? Why do I think I can just make it happen? If that's the case, then you just need to be open for purpose to happen, similar to when I met my wife, and it will come to you. But put yourself in different situations that may facilitate, but stop trying. Do you believe that everyone's purpose must be altruistic, save the world? I guess not. That doesn't seem fair, because if you can love anyone then you should be able to love any purpose. So comparing it to love. I love this. Do you also believe that your purpose must stay the same forever? No. If I give myself the grace to change my mind later, cool. Then for now, my purpose could be to live a life of adventure. Heal. Rest. Heal, sure.
I would argue that it's really hard to find purpose until you've treated yourself like a business and done the work and healed some of those old stories and those old wounds. Because if you don't, The new purpose will still be out of the old rather than what you get to step into.
