What was the cost to you of realizing that you achieved all of your dreams and then maybe it wasn't actually the dream that you thought?
I was lost. Totally lost. I stood at the top of the mountain and looked around and thought, is this it? And I knew it wasn't. Deeply in inside myself, I knew it wasn't.
Dr. Keith Latson began his career at the top of equine surgery, treating Triple Crown winners and serving as NBC's veterinary commentator for the Triple Crown. Alongside his wife Chris, he has co-founded multiple 7 and 8-figure businesses rooted in intentional culture and service-first leadership. Their brands, including Full Bucket, 6666 Equine Supplements, and Revel Vet, blend high-integrity care with real-world impact through year-round missions in rural Guatemala and a relational model for small animal care. Keith now splits his time between building purpose-driven companies and exploring the remote corners of the Southwest with his family.
I was living on this achievement side of a river and looking across the river at joy and wonder and awe and all of those things, and just wanting to get to the other side of the river so badly, but I didn't have a bridge for that. And so I was, I was very afraid of making that decision because I felt like I had so much to lose if it didn't work. It was everything I thought I'd ever dreamed of. I had penciled out for myself what I wanted to accomplish in that career. To work on a Kentucky Derby winner, to work on a Breeders' Cup winner, to do surgery on some of the best racehorses in the world, and all of that came very quickly.
Way faster than I expected. It was amazing. The view from the mountaintop is empty. Yeah. It's not serving you in the way that you thought it would. How do you begin to reconnect with yourself? You're walking away from a 7-figure your income. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's not easy to do. Delving into that unknown made me felt—
feel alive again.
