A first-person YouTube vlog by appreciated-haze (posted March 10, 2025) describing the speaker's decision to quit a corporate 9–5 job twenty years earlier and start a business. The speaker recounts having followed extreme "hustle culture" (long hours, anxiety, missed family time) and argues that success doesn't require self-sacrifice; they report greater productivity and less anxiety working regular hours, and advocate designing a business and schedule that deliver true freedom (choose hours that fit your chronotype).

Twenty years ago, I quit my 9 to 5 job to escape the corporate grind. Today I choose to work 9 to 5 on my business. I know, it sounds crazy, doesn't it? See, when I first started my entrepreneur journey, I bought into this whole hustle culture thing. You know the drill. Work 80 hours a week, sleep when you're dead, sacrifice everything for success. And man, those were really some dark days, right? Laying awake at 3am, mind racing with anxiety about tomorrow's to do list, Missing family dinners. Because that's what successful entrepreneurs do, right? But here's what nobody tells you about that process. You don't have to live like that to be successful. In fact, I found I'm actually more productive working normal hours, right? Nor more middle of the night anxiety. No more sacrificing family time on the altar of hustle. I didn't start my own business to become a slave to it. I started it for freedom. And real freedom means choosing when you work, but also not just where you work, right? So maybe you're a night owl who crushes it from 6pm to midnight. Cool. Do you? Maybe you're an early bird who loves 5am Club. Awesome. That's more my style, right? The point is you get to choose. So build the business and the lifestyle you want.
