A short transcript excerpt from a YouTube episode discussing storytelling as a path to healing, the role of lament and self-acceptance in recovery, and references to women in Scripture being used powerfully by God. Speakers reflect on shame, reputation, and being loved for who one is.
When you start telling your story, the shame loses its power. The sooner we can learn to lament and let ourselves express those things, the quicker our healing will come. But it's to me, it's a new language.
And we can see in that we're still holding on to a reputation that I need to look a certain way or come across a certain way to be loved and valued and accepted. And I think a big part of our recovery is finding out that I'm loved for who I am.
This is their story, and they need to know that. That this is all over Scripture. And God is using these women in so many mighty.
Ways, much like the ways we've had women in scripture interpreted to us. I think many betrayed spouses feel like I'm to blame. If only I was different or better or had done whatever, this wouldn't have happened.
