A short evangelical Christian monologue arguing that God’s creation — including the human body and sexuality — is inherently good despite the Fall. The speaker critiques starting Christian identity formation primarily from the Fall, urges beginning with creation’s goodness, and emphasizes that redemption brings genuine healing even in this life.
People who have a low view of the body are often not really taking creation into account. If you kind of think of the body and sex as kind of dirty or corrupt, you're not starting with creation, because creation says your body and sexuality was created by God, and God himself says it was very good. And we do have a tendency in evangelical circles to start with the Fall. In other words, our messages often start with, you're a sinner, you need to get saved. And that's true. But what it communicates is that your central identity is at your center. You know that you're fallen. You have to start with creation. Creation says everything God created was good. The Fall is real. But the Fall, the Fall is like a beautiful masterpiece that a child comes along and scribbles on. Yes, it's marred, it's defaced, but the original beauty still shines through. And that's what we need to teach people, is that the original beauty of God's creation still comes through. And, of course, redemption. Redemption means that even in this life, we can experience genuine healing.
