A short YouTube monologue by Nick Stumbo arguing that the human brain was designed for survival but is ill-suited to chronic modern stressors. He links untreated/chronic trauma, anxiety, and depression to long-term negative impacts on brain, body, and mental health, noting a mismatch between intended brain function and contemporary living conditions.
And all of these things that God designed our brain for our survival and for us to utilize when we were in danger. But today, it seems like people are living in this chronic state of unprocessed or untreated trauma, and they are living with anxiety, and they're living with depression, and all of these things that are having this long term impact on their brain and their body and their mental health. And really, in a way that we were never supposed to live in those systems or with those systems on chronically. And I think that that is part of the issue, too, that people are experiencing is that, I mean, God created our brain perfect and to work perfectly, but we don't live in a perfect world. And so there's going to be these side effects or this impact of the way that it affects us and the way we live.
