A single-speaker podcast-style monologue advising listeners to set goals that match their current season of life (e.g., parenting, time and financial constraints). The speaker emphasizes assessing personal margins (time, finances, relationships) and coordinating goals with family members to avoid conflict and increase likelihood of success.
You know, what I think you should consider is the season of life that you're in. Because there were goals I could make when I was 25 and had no kids that are probably not great goals. I'm 45 and have a lot of kids, activities and commitments in my life. And so it's sometimes just being honest with yourself about what are the kind of margins I have, not only time wise, but financially, relationally. Because where you don't have much margin, you want to be very thoughtful about making goals there. And I think to consider too, what impact does this have on the people around me? Does it dovetail, maybe with things they're working on? If you realize for your spouse or family member, their goals are all around spending more quality time together in the evenings. And you want to set a goal about going to the gym every evening, like you're going to have some real conflict there. Because, you know, though neither is bad for you to want to go to the gym and your, your spouse to want to work on family time. Both are really great goals. But if you haven't thought through, oh, okay, how, how do we work together on this, it's just gonna be difficult to be successful with.
