Short monologue from a single speaker (Nick Stumbo) urging listeners in recovery from sexual addiction (SA) to reframe certain online behaviors as part of exploitation of others. The speaker asks listeners to ask "why" they engage in such behaviors, argues that recognizing these behaviors as exploitative can provide motivation to change, and challenges the tendency to dismiss the actions as benign.
The question I think we ought to ask ourselves is why? Why would I allow myself to participate in a behavior that I know is a part of exploiting other human beings? Again, we don't like to think of it that way. We'd rather just say, well, this is just, you know, I'm just looking at women online. But it's like, no, this is all a part of what you referred to as, like, this much larger issue that is happening in our world. And if, if we're aware of that, then I think we start to have some of the motivation to change and not just accept something to be a benign behavior that isn't hurting because it is a form of exploitation.
