How to get better at LinkedIn - 5 practical tips

Nir Zavaro shares five tactics for LinkedIn: add 5-10 relevant people daily with personalized notes, replace generic posts with personal stories, try a 30-day two-line post challenge, post once to three times daily without chasing likes, and recycle successful posts on a 30 and 60-day schedule. He cites real results: book sales, VC conversations, and new contracts from following these practices.

Want to scale on LinkedIn faster and better? This is what you have to do. Ready? Let's start. Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel. My name is Nir Zavaro. Today's rant is about LinkedIn. I don't know about you, I've had enough. It feels like today's LinkedIn is always the same. Everybody posts the same thing, AI stuff about how amazing everyone is. I thought I'd make a quick video, a rant about why you should think about LinkedIn differently. And this is what you need to do if you want to scale faster, but more than that, scale better. Now, we always thought it was about the numbers, but if you look It doesn't work like that. People with 20,000 followers are getting 50 likes on a post that everybody else can make. Here are the things I'm looking at in 2025, and so far it's been going pretty good.
Trick number 1, I stopped adding people that are not relevant to my ecosystem. They could be potential leads or clients, that's great, but they also have to be people that I have something to learn from that might be interesting. More than that, It is a social network. Mind-blowing. I want to meet people who are relevant, and I'm— I want to make real connections. I know, amazing. So do this thing: add 5 to 10 people every single day. Make sure that they are relevant people. Now here's the trick: try and make a real connection. Add a note, say why you're interested. If someone adds you and you want to add them and they look relevant, that's great. The first thing you have to do when you click accept, send them a message. My best thing is, hey, it's so nice to connect. Let me know if you need anything. You'd be amazed. You'd be surprised at how many people react like, oh, this is cool. And they go to check again and they see something. The last week alone, I've had a few purchases for the book. I had the lead come in. I'm talking to people and I just had an amazing, amazing conversation with a VC last night just because I said, hey, let me know if you need anything, which they replied, what a great message.
And we started a whole conversation and about me being in Vietnam and what they're working on, what they're interested. And yes, they just bought a book. Try and make a real connection. That's it. It's that simple. And if you build the right network, guess what? You might not have 20,000 followers, but you will have the best people. Number 2, and that is crucial, I'm moving from let me tell you everything to sharing experiences. I like posting, I like writing, and it's fun. I post my own stuff, but I'm moving towards sharing my experiences. Here's something that happened yesterday, here's a call I had, here's something that just happened to me that might be relevant for customer journey, things like that. And the reason is because I feel we're all a bit tired of seeing more dumb shit on our feeds. And listen, we can put number 3, we can put in brackets. Yes, your picture works better. People resonate and connect with that. Go follow me on LinkedIn. What I've done is I posted a challenge, 30 days. I posted 2 lines and then a coffee, an image of a flat white that I was having every single day.
Why?
That's a story for another video.
But what was amazing is I wanted to do everything against what is supposed to be the rational or common or what everybody does. So my goal was this. I didn't want to have a see more button, which meant I only had 3 lines. The 3rd line was always the same thing. That's it. Have a nice day. Which left me with 2 lines. And here's my ask. Do you think you can teach us something or share something in 2 lines that is relevant, You can use the picture if you want to add another sentence, but can we be a bit more concise and a bit more interesting?
I'm going to keep doing this very soon again, but during that 30 days, I got people saying, oh, why are you doing this? It's not relevant. You should stop. It's boring. But the other side was amazing. People who said, hey, I've been enjoying this thing. You made me think. I like what you're doing. Can we chat? And I had a few amazing Zoom calls with people. Again, I'm not there necessarily to sell. Guess what? It's the side effect. And I signed a great contract with someone I'm really happy, and I would never have met them unless they saw that piece of content. When they like it once or twice, their network will see it, which is great. And lastly, don't give a fuck what other people think, because only 1 to 1.5% are even gonna see your posts. So don't worry about it, just keep posting. Post once a day, twice a day, 3 times a day. Number 5 is repurpose. When you post something, put on your calendar or even schedule the same post again with a small change, maybe 30 days, 60 days. What you'll have is a complete content calendar that goes 2, 3, 4 times a day in, in 2 months or 3 months. And that's how we win, creating good content for the relevant people and engaging in real conversations.
That's it. That was for today. I'm Nir Zavaro.
