After 20 years in the business with a lot of experience, 3 books, one of them is an Amazon bestseller, different businesses, a 7-figure agency, I felt it was time to make a change.
I wanted to do something completely different.
I'm starting from scratch. Actually, I've started from scratch about 2 months ago, but I think now is the right time to start building in public. And I want to share with you the dream, the ideas, the hopes, and invite you to join my journey. So let's start. So welcome to my channel. My name is Nir Zavaro, and, uh, with a career spanning over 2 decades, I've decided I wanted to do something else. So I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone. I'm changing everything. And I'm starting from scratch. I just moved to Thailand a couple of months ago to reimagine what my next business, the ideas, and everything I'm doing could look like. What happens if you step as far as you can outside of your comfort zone? So I decided I'm gonna focus this channel on 3 things. The first and the most important is myself trying to get out of my comfort zone. Trying to get out of my comfort zone and record more videos like this. I thought the best way to do it is to record 2 videos and upload twice a week.
One of them, which is this type of videos, is building in public. What I want to share with you, the journey I'm going through, the numbers, the ideas, the ups and the downs, the fails and successes.
That's one thing.
So I thought I'll do that on Mondays. And Thursdays, I'm thinking about doing more of an educational part. I want to teach you and share with you my knowledge about storytelling, branding, marketing, and sales. We'll talk about messaging, customer journey, pricing, a lot of other topics that I've learned along the way. And I'm also going to share the tools I use, my kits, my workbooks, everything I have I'll share with you. But the most interesting thing is I'll share it while I actually do it.
This channel is about building in public, sharing the raw, unfiltered process of creating something new while sharing my knowledge with you. You see, I'm scaling a new business around my books and turning my methods into a franchise. Unlike other creators, I'm not planning on selling you anything on this channel. My clients are already large companies, and this channel is my way of giving back, sharing what I've learned, and connecting with people while also building something meaningful. I want you to enjoy, learn, and support each other through this journey. Right now, business-wise, I'm focused on 3 key things. First is I'm writing a new book that's called The Business Catcher: Why We're Building Brands the Wrong Way and How We Can Fix It.
This will be my 4th book, and with 2 novels and a bestselling book called If the Slides, I'm excited to push the boundaries yet again. The second thing I'm gonna focus on is creating consistent, valuable content for this channel. This is something I've struggled with for many years, and I feel it's time to overcome the issue. And third, I need to stay, or maybe go back, to being a practitioner. I am not just talking the talk but walking the walk every step of the way. I need to get back into it. So over the last few weeks, I've done a lot of different types of content. Now YouTube is going to be the next step.
It's interesting, you know, even after years of success, putting myself out there on videos just still feels uncomfortable, unnatural. I don't know why. It's, it's a new challenge, and I'll be honest, it's even intimidating. I've done these for so many years, and you know what's interesting? If you open a camera and you ask me to talk, I'll talk for 2 hours. If you ask me to go online and present and do a workshop, no problem. And I've done this You know, over 40, 40 countries for the last 2 years. I've traveled the world from Brazil to Australia, from South Africa to London. I've been to Canada, East Coast in the US, Singapore, Thailand. Anywhere, I've been there, and I still keep traveling. But if I have to open a camera like this and talk to you guys, we have a problem. And I have some assumptions About where this could lead me. I understand that for the last 2 years or so I've been traveling, so I've been talking to 50 people, 100 people, 200 people, which is great, but that's not how you get the message across. I'll share with you something interesting I've learned over the last 2 years, that about 30% of my time would go to traveling logistics, arranging stuff, the calls, the hotels, getting in, leaving, packing. Was a waste of time.
And I figured if I'll stay in less places, so I'll move less, I can probably have more time to create content. The problem was that when I stopped for a month and I was writing a lot, I didn't do these videos. It always felt awkward or weird. Now I'm making myself commit. Doing these videos is gonna be my thing for 2020. 'Cause writing the book, I'm there. Doing the social media, I'm there. Speaking gigs, I'm there. This is where I'm struggling, and this is being outside of my comfort zone. The most important thing I want to focus on in 2025.
And part of the ideas of going forward with this would be, can I scale the business? Can I create the franchise I wanted around the book? I'm thinking about starting a new company. There are a lot of— I have these assumptions, but if I need to pivot, we will pivot together. Don't worry about it. And here's where I'm starting, which is interesting. On YouTube, I probably have like 400 plus or minus subscribers. I have 6,500 on LinkedIn. I'm not big on Twitter. Nothing is major. Everything's okay. I think Medium has 200 followers. So in a sense, This is a commitment. In a sense, this is the beginning. This is where we start to measure everything. How long would it take me to get to 1,000 followers? Why should people follow this channel? How can we make it more interesting for them? What do people really need? And I think one of them is to see the real journey from people starting again. Can you duplicate it? Can you build it? Will it scale? Will We'll talk about all these things, and I promise to share the numbers once a week as part of the Building in Public, and we'll see what happens. And as I'm talking, and we'll do the videos, I want to ask you, what about you? What's something you've been wanting to start or build? Maybe it feels scary, overwhelming, but that's where the magic happens, you see. Sharing your journey here in the comments, maybe we'll start something. Let's grow together. Why not? I'll be happy to share. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. I'm just like you, I'm starting from scratch and I'm excited about it. And if this resonates with you, hit that subscribe button. Feel free and, um, join me on this journey. Let's figure it out together step by step. If you made it till here, this is the end. Thank you for watching and, uh, I'll see you on the next one.
