My Journey to write a book in 30 days starts here

A founder is taking five weeks off to write his first book, Fork the Slides, about presentation storytelling. He'll write 500-600 words daily while traveling through Lisbon and London, aiming for a finished draft by the end. Back in December, he'll teach the concepts at Tel Aviv University and run startup workshops.

So I'm making this video for you. You see, I've made a decision. I'm flying. I'm going for about 5 weeks to Lisbon to attend a conference and then another conference at Web Summit. You might have heard of it. Over there I'll do the pitch competition, which is quite exciting. From there I'm flying for 1 month. I'm going to London. By the way, if you're there, let's catch up and let's meet. You see, I have a feeling I need to stop what I'm doing in order to do something else, like a new book. This is gonna be the first time I'm actually writing a book. The working title, by the way, is Fork the Slides, kind of a way to teach you how to create a better presentation, why presentation is actually just a story and your scenery or your background should be your slides. I've been doing this for a few years now and I think now is the time, but I need some peace of mind. I need time to roam the streets, to take a look, to think, to upgrade what I'm usually doing. So instead of writing for 1 hour a day, try and see if I can write throughout the day. So I have a layout and a concept, and I think I know how the book will look. But in order to have more free time, we have made the decision that I will leave the company for the next 5 or 6 weeks. I'm still here, I'm still working. I'll probably do 2 or 3 hours every single day. I just don't know when and how. I think this is a call for you. If you have a passion, if you have something you want to do, if you have something you want to try, Do it. There's always time to do something. There's always time to add something that you're interested in. Last week I met an amazing woman and she told me she has this dream of writing a book, and I told her, just write a book. This will be my 3rd book, and I still get excited every single time I write because I have no idea what the outcome was really gonna be. What is the impact that I want to have? I'm gonna try and talk to you throughout those 5 weeks, how things are going, how the conference is going, how do I feel about writing. By the way, I calculated, I think if I can write 500 or 600 words a day, I'll have a full draft by the time I come back. The idea then is to see if this concept, this methodology actually works when I give you the book. Can you learn it by yourself? Is it that easy? And we have a few lineups for workshops and classes and stuff I'm gonna do. When I come back in December, I'm gonna start teaching at the University of Tel Aviv at the Global MBA. I will teach exactly that concept. How can you tell a better story, whether you need to raise money, if you have a presentation in your company or work. Yes, I'm focusing mainly on startups at the moment, but I think you'll get the hang of it. It's pretty simple. And I think it's a game changer. And it excites me to see if we can actually make it work. And I think we're gonna self-publish because I've always done that and probably sell it through Amazon. I would love to do an audio version. The only problem is my accent, but we'll see what happens. If you need any help with your presentation, I'm looking for more ideas and more startups and more companies. Reach out, feel free, email me. It should be here now. This is my journey to achieve another dream of writing a book. A management book about something that I hope will have an impact on you. I'll see you soon, probably next time in Lisbon. See ya!
