Managing your GMB profile

One person walks through how to optimize your Google My Business profile for local visibility. Keep photos current, respond to reviews, post regular updates, and use the insights data to see what's working.
Now that your Google My Business profile is live, I just want to make sure that it is helping your business to shine as brightly as physically possible. So having a Google My Business profile is an amazing start, but the key to making it work for you is to keep it fresh, keep it inviting, and also keep it up to date. Now if you haven't already, I would urge you to try another quick Google search in your area. So search for nail services like Gel Nails, Prehab Nails, Natural Nails and then your town or city and just look at the top of the listings, see if you notice a pattern. Typically, the businesses that do show up at the top have a high number of positive reviews. They also have a variety of photos and updated details that make them look reliable and professional. The more you build up your profile in this way, the more likely clients will be to see and also to trust you. Now reviews are a major part of this. So when you're looking at these top listings, just check how many reviews they have. I want you to look at the biggest competitor that you currently have on Google My Business who is showing at the top right now in the listing that you wish you had. And I just want you to look at how many reviews they currently have. Now let's set you a goal to reach or even surpass that number of Google reviews. Because if you did, there's a high, high chance that you would then show higher than than this person. You would then rank the top on Google. Now every review adds to your credibility and when clients see lots of positive experiences, they are so much more likely to book in with you. So you can gently encourage reviews by asking happy clients for feedback at the end of their appointment or by sending a quick follow up message afterwards, or even offering them an incentive for those who do like enter them into a client giveaway or give them something on the next visit for completing a review. When you do receive a review, make sure you take a moment to reply. Even like a simple thank you goes a long way in showing your care. And people who are viewing your profile on Google My Business will see that you're responding to comments and see that you are investing time in your customers. So getting those reviews is really, really important. One thing I learned from running my own salon is that every little detail counts, especially on Google My Business. So from the photos to the responses on the reviews, like once we found a picture on our profile that wasn't even our work, imagine a client finding that and basing their decision on it like it's a quick way to lose credibility. So that's why it is so important to check your profile every now and then. Make sure everything is accurate and also refresh the photos to keep them recent, relevant and reflective of the experience that you're providing in store. Now. Beyond reviews, use the Update feature on Google My Business as well to post about anything new or exciting that's coming in your business. Like you could share photos of recent nail designs, announce seasonal offers, let clients know about new services. All of these things, they're all little updates that are like mini social media posts. They show potential clients that you're active, they show that you're professional. They show you that you're ready to welcome them in. So when you take the time to schedule social media posts each week, don't forget to update your Google profile with a couple of your best photos as well. And don't forget to check your GMB Insights. Now this feature is like a little report card and it shows you how people are interacting with your listing. Are people clicking for directions? Are people visiting your website? Are they calling straight from Google? This information is so helpful, so it's so important that you review it. It lets you see what's working and where you can make adjustments to attract even more clients or make processes easier for them. So every now and then set a reminder to check in on your Google My Business profile. Post something new Reply to an update Reply to a review Update your photos. It's a simple way to keep building trust with your clients and also helping your business to stand out. You are already doing amazing by taking these steps and just keeping your profile up to date is like having a welcoming polished front door right on Google for everyone to see.
