Every single one of us has got our own unique relationship with money. And this starts forming before we even understand what money actually is because it's shaped by our parents attitudes, our early experiences, and the messages that we kind of absorbed when we were growing up. So today we're going to explore how all of these deep rooted beliefs actually affect every decision that you make in your business and could be affecting you right now a lot more than you would even realize. Now your money mindset is the collection of all your beliefs, feelings and attitudes towards money. So I just want you to think back for a minute to your childhood and I want you to think about the kinds of phrases that you maybe heard when you were a child about money. So maybe it was things like money doesn't grow on trees or oh, you can't buy that, we can't afford it. Or maybe even it was certain opinions. Things like rich people are greasy. Maybe you grew up hearing things like oh, you've got to work really hard for your money. Or maybe things like oh, it's not polite to talk about money or ask about money. Now these messages, whether they are spoken directly or implied, become the foundation of your money mindset. Now I just want to bring your attention to how you actually feel when you think about money. Do you feel anxiety, excitement, shame, confidence? And there's no right or wrong with this. I just want you to notice what comes up for you when you think about money. Now these feelings are influencing every financial decision that you are making, especially in your business. So when it comes to pricing your services, your money mindset is already at work. And that's before you even start calculating your costs. It's in the way you apologetically say your prices or how you feel compelled to justify them. It shows when you hesitate to raise your prices, even though you know that your skills are have improved dramatically. It's present in the pit of your stomach when a client asks how much you charge. Now let me share something that I have noticed working with nail techs over the years. So many unbelievably talented nail techs who create absolutely gorgeous work, who invest thousands of pounds in training, who are using premium products, still struggle to charge prices that reflect their true value. And it isn't because they don't understand costs, and it isn't because they don't understand business principles. It's because of their money mindset. Now think about this scenario. You've just spent two hours creating a gorgeous set of nails. You've used your skills, your premium products, your artistic skills, you've provided a relaxing experience. You've shared aftercare advice, you've maybe even given some nail care tips. You've given hours of your time. But then when it comes to taking your payment, you feel almost like you should apologise about your price. Why is that? Now? Often it's because somewhere deep down we are carrying beliefs like oh, I shouldn't charge too much or people in my area won't pay higher prices or oh, I'm not experienced enough to charge more. Now, these beliefs might feel true, but they are just stories that we have learned over time to tell ourselves. So let's talk about value for just a minute. Now, when you go to a luxury shop, you expect to pay premium prices. Not because the materials cost that much more, but because you are paying for the complete experience, the service, the brand, the ambience, the quality, the skills included in creating that product. You don't expect luxury brands to apologise for the prices or justify their value. They know their worth and they attract clients who are appreciative and are willing to pay for that value. Now your nail business deserves that very same confidence. When you undercharge because of your limited money beliefs, you're not just affecting your income, you're affecting your entire business energy. You might find yourself rushing through services so you can fit more clients in to earn more money. You might feel resentful when clients book in because you are just burnt out and overwhelmed, or you're struggling to invest in your own development because you're worried about the cost. Think about how your mindset and your money mindset affect your daily decisions. When a client asks for a discount, how do you feel when you need to buy new equipment? What kinds of thoughts come up when you see other nail techs charging higher prices? What is your immediate reaction? These responses all stem from your deeper beliefs about money and about worth. And here's something fascinating about money mindset. It creates self fulfilling prophecies. So basically, if you believe clients in your area won't pay higher prices, then you will charge less. And then when you charge less, you will attract price sensitive clients, people who appreciate low price nails. These clients just confirm your belief that people won't pay more and then the cycle just continues. But what if you question that original belief? What if there are clients in your area looking for quality over price, waiting to find someone who offers the experience that they truly value? Now many nail techs tell me they feel guilty charging more because they genuinely care about their clients. But let's just explore that for a minute. When you undercharge, you often need to work longer hours or take on more clients in the week than is actually sustainable. You might start cutting corners or feeling burnt out. How does that actually serve your clients? How does that help you show up as your best self in your business? If you are overwhelmed, overworked and burnt out? True care for your clients means creating a sustainable business where you can consistently deliver excellence and you're still here to do the nails in years to come. It means charging prices that you can maintain the standards of continuing your education, using quality products and taking care of your own well being. It means valuing your skills enough to make it sustainable and long term. Now consider what happens when you start valuing yourself properly. You feel confident in your work. You take time to deliver excellence. You invest in your growth without guilt. You attract clients who appreciate quality and they're happy to pay for it. The entire energy of your business shifts. I so often hear nail tech say things like I'll charge more when. When they're more experienced, when they move to a better location, when they offer more services. But this is the truth. There will always be another when the key to shifting your money mindset is starting exactly where you are, with exactly what you have right now, start noticing the stories that you are telling yourself about money. When you feel a resistance to charge inappropriately, ask yourself, where is this feeling coming from? And more than anything, is it really true? Is it saving your growth? Is it supporting the business that you really want to build? Your relationship with money impacts everything in your business, from the clients that you attract, to the experience that you create, from the investments you make to the future that you build. It's not just about the numbers in your bank account. It's about the value that you place on your time, your skills, your creativity over everything you're worth. Now, as we move forward in this module and we start looking at actual numbers and calculations, I just want you to remember the biggest barrier to charge and what you're worth isn't your skills. It's not your location and it's not your clients. It's your own beliefs about what is possible, what you deserve and what others are going to pay. So it's time to start building new money beliefs. Beliefs that support your growth, honour your expertise and allow you to build a thriving and sustainable business. Because when you truly value yourself and your work, then you give clients permission to value you too.
