Pricelist Processor - Consumables

Amy Guy walks through calculating what each consumable costs per client. Enter the product price, how many uses come in a pack, and how many times you use it per service to get your per-use cost. She shows the math for nail files, acetone, gel colour, and others, then explains how these numbers feed into your service pricing.

So next we've moved on to our consumables and we're going to spend some time just working out the cost for each of the consumable products that we use on a day to day basis. So at the top you will see a list of things that are used in every single service. So this would be like it doesn't matter what the customer books in for, you're going to end up using the things on this list. Now you've also got below this the service specific items. So things that you might use for one service but not for another. If you do other treatments as well as nails then I would ignore this top section and I just do everything down here. But for now you, if you do do nails then you can fill it in with me. But we're going to fill it in together anyway and it will make more sense as we go through through it. So this is your used in every service column first and we're going to stick with this one. If there are other things you can add them in, even if you use things like tea and coffee like or snacks and you provide them with every single service, then you can pop them in here as something that's used all the time. But let's fill this one in together. So we're just going to start here with our nail files and let's imagine that we paid ten pounds for nail files. So we pay ten pound for nail files. The quantity is ten. So you get ten of them in a pack. You can pop in the shop or brand in here and then you can say on here that we use one pair clients because we would use one nail file per client and there is 10 uses in a pack because obviously we get 10 files in a pack. So that tells us then that our price per usage is 1:1 pound. Okay. And then we can carry on and move on so and so forth. So let's do next lint free wipes. So let's say we pay two pound fifty and we get 200 lint free wipes. You can pop the shop or brand in here. And let's say we use three wipes per client. So we pop a number three in here and in here we're going to write 200 because there's 200 in a pack which means we get 200 yes uses per pack and that tells us that it's 4 pence per usage for our lymph free pads. Now when you're filling in things like acetone, that's a little bit different and a little bit Harder to complete because obviously it's a bottle of acetone. So it's more difficult for us to know how many uses. Now this is all working this out for us based on how many clients we told it that we were seeing and that's how it's worked out. So we've got a special calculator up here and this is going to be able to help us when it comes to things like acetone sanitizer and things like that. So let's just pop in here. First of all, let's say we spent £6.88 on our acetone and let's say it is a one liter bottle and if we come over here and we think, okay, so we've got a one litre bottle of acetone, we're doing around 18 claims per week and it lasts us for about four, four weeks, it lasts us about a month. So if we write four in there and press enter, it tells us that we use this product approximately 72 times based on the amount of clients that we have. So then you can come across here and we can say that we use it once per client and we get 72 uses out of each bottle and then it's going to tell us that our acetone is costing us approximately 10 pence. So you can go ahead and fill this in in that same way and if you need to, you can use the calculator to help work out any tricky ones like the liter bottles and things like that, the liquids. Then we want to move down here and we want to look at, once we've filled all of this in, we then want to look at our service specific items. So these are the items that we don't necessarily use for every single service, but they will come out during sum. So we can start at the top here and let's say we split spend nine pound fifty on a pack of 100 nail wraps and obviously we'll only use this for a soak off. You can pop the brand in here. We can say that we use 10 per client because we use one for every finger and uses per pack. Obviously we get 100 uses because there are 100 of them in there. So based on the fact that we use 10 of them, it's going to cost us 95 pence per per service. Then we can move on to something like your base coat. So let's say we pay £14.99 for base coat and it is a 15ml bottle. You can pop the shop or the brand in here and we use One coat per client. So we put a number one in here. Now, again, for the number of users, I am not quite sure. So what I want to do is pop in here that I'm using base coat and I reckon it lasts for about three weeks. So based on that, it tells me that I get about 54 uses per product. So I'm just going to Write in here 54 and then it's going to tell me that my base coat is costing me about 28 pence per use. Okay. And then you can do the same with your top coat. So again, it's 14.99. It's also a 15ml bottle which is used for one coat. And again, we can assume that it's going to be the same. So 54, yours might be different. If you feel like you use you go through it quicker or slower, then you can change the number of weeks in here. I'm just going to add 54 and that's also 28. Now, your gel color is slightly different. So for this one I'm also going to pop 14.99. But it's different because obviously we don't go through our gel color as far as Fastos. We would maybe go through our base or a top coat because we don't use it as much. So you're just gonna have to sort of guesstimate for this one how much you would use it. But I'm just for the sake of this, gonna enter it as I did, similar to these ones. But this is where it's different also, because with a color code, you will have two coats of the color. So you'll have two uses per client. So you want to pop a number two in this box. Then I'm just going to go ahead and say 54 like before. And then you can see it cost us 4.56pence to use that gel color, which is double what it is base or top, because we add two coats. So that is basically how you would work out all of this. You just want to work your way through all of the specific items that you use in your service. And then what it's going to do is calculate a total of your tools, which it will take from this one here, and also your used in every service and then your base service cost. So it's going to end up telling you in this box how much your base service cost cost is for your base services. And then we're going to use this information when we move on into the next section.
