A Spanish-language first-person account by Sharon Zaga about her aunt, a Holocaust survivor. The aunt was deported to Auschwitz shortly after marrying, underwent medical abuse (described as an experiment by Josef Mengele that destroyed her uterus), was liberated by the Russians, spent a year hospitalized, was helped by family in Mexico who identified her on a survivors' list and sent money to bribe an official for medicine, reunited with her husband after the war, chose to fight for Israel before later seeking medical treatment in the U.S., and never had children. Themes: survival, trauma, family reconnection, resilience, and postwar choices.
