In this monologue, the speaker outlines practical strategies for designers to secure buy‑in from non‑design stakeholders such as developers, marketers, and business leaders. The core advice is to translate design ideas into each audience’s native language, clearly articulate the concrete value (technical feasibility, user impact, revenue potential), and involve the stakeholders in the process. By framing the design effort as a collaborative, team‑sport‑like activity and remaining open to feedback, the designer builds shared ownership and increases the likelihood that the vision will be adopted.

The best way to get non-designers to buy into your vision is to speak their language and explain it to them why it would work. For example, if I wanted to get a developer to buy in, I would explain how we can do this. I could say, hey, we've seen this here, uh, that's part of Bootstrap's library, that's native functionality, so it would be less effort. Uh, we have that functionality here. I would talk about the value it would make. Maybe there's opportunities here, right, to like maybe make this easier or slim it down. I would also include them and ask them if they have any input so that they feel like they're part of this design process. For example, you know, like marketing, you can highlight the value that it's going to bring to the users and why we can emphasize this and what we can use like imagery to show this and we can, you know, we'll affect a lot of people, this will be great to advertise. Same for business, how this will make money, how this will provide a lot of value to the users in which they may be willing to pay for it, or potential monetization methods through a feature. Number 1, I make it a team sport, and I also talk to them in a way that they're able to understand. So as I'm presenting the solution, it's more comfortable for everyone, and I'm also open to feedback. I make sure that everyone knows I'm open to input. It's not like my way or the highway. I I appreciate input on this because you may have experiences that I don't have. So I just make everyone involved, and a lot of times it's not my solution, it's our solution. So we all are moving forward.
