It's so strange he doesn't show me more affection than he needs. Almost formal, too respectful, never takes romantic leads. There are times when I imagine I'm not always on his mind. He's not thinking what I'm thinking. Always half a step behind. Always half a step behind.

There she meets the smitten Freddie, played by Daniel Lethgrim, and Mrs. Higgins, played by Sierra Glipp. The race is one of the most proper, high-class places in the entire world. When I became a nun at a very early age, I had to choose between the convent and life on the stage. So when Reverend Mother said, "Put him on a show," I must tell you, I was thrilled to death. I couldn't wait to go. Then, to my surprise, Reverend Mother didn't hear what was so obvious: the stage was meant for me. One fame I don't desire. I only And a sparkle high enough here to start a fire. You see, I don't care if I'm having to face it. I just wanna be a star. I don't care if you don't believe it. I just wanna be a star. I wanna be the nun who makes you cheer. The nun who's at the front instead of in the rear. And what I want to be I can lead the band and have the crowd in the palm of my hand. So I don't care if I'm average, it is just so I can be a star. When they began the show, they were really green. They didn't know a chorus line from a forest green. They didn't realize that in the chorus You never get to strut your stuff, you never really shine. But I don't care if I never reach my dreams, just 'cause I wanna be a star. I don't care if you know what I needed, I just wanna be a star. I know my vows to poverty, but I can't make a fortune. When we're 80 and sitting on the porch in our old nun's home and they ask who we are, I just wanna say, hey, I was a star! Oh, I don't care if I never reach Phoebus. I just wanna be the chorus line in Notre Dame. I bred not to be a star. You're a dean of heart, your own damn heart.
I just wanna be a star.
This song, called "Nine People's Favorite Thing," features the four characters singing about how they'd rather make a show that a few people love than a show that everybody only kind of enjoys.
We can neither follow our instincts, take advice from every joker. We can neither be distinct, or wind up are merely mediocre. But not me, not me. When we set out to write this musical, we said we'd write a show that we'd want to see. We knew we'd never please everyone. Remember that day at Christine's? You said to me, you said to me, I'd rather be 9 people's favorite thief than 100 people's 9th favorite thief.
Thing.
9 people's favorite thing. Then 100 people's 9th favorite thing. Yeah, you're right, Jesse, let's not compromise. Let's create something we've never seen. A risk was taken with all that talent. Look what happened. Betty and Adolf burst onto the scene. A shot to come in and breathe. And with lock and harness, with riding tenderloin, they were taking their to write a show about a horse. When Kendra and Ev were working on the ring, I like to think at some point John looked at Brad and said, "I'd rather be 9 people's favorite thing than 100 people's 9th favorite thing." 9 people's favorite thing than 100 people's 9th favorite thing.
When you came to me the first draft of the show, I'll admit I wasn't I know that this sucks, but I'm not giving up on you guys until all of us learn to knit on the bus and truck. On the bus and truck. And you said 4 chairs and a keyboard can make a Broadway musical. We're enough with only that keyboard. We're okay with only 4 chairs. We'll be fine with only 4 chairs.
We'll rock hard with only 4 chairs. Whoa! Whoa!
I am 8 years old in Ohio. It is time for the annual church bazaar for a cake baking contest. I am going to be the big star! But I don't want to make a German chocolate, and the 7th layer will never complete. So I show up with pride this morning with such a crate of Rice Krispie Treats. Oh, to push them aside, say that they are too strange to compete. And sure, most of the judges award the red belt Beg popcorn, Pixlrice Krispie Treats.
Let our show be the Rice Krispie Treats.
I'd rather be 9 people's favorite thing than 100 people's 9th favorite thing. 9 people's favorite thing than 100 people tonight.
Ingrid Lee.
Those 9 people will tell 9 people that they'll have 18 people love on the show.
That 18 people could grow into 525,600 people all loving our show. And maybe someday, if we're lucky enough, we'll all be in the studio recording our show. And 10 years from now, when we play the cast album, track on the CD.
Lower Mind doesn't mind, we'd rather be 9 people's favorite thing than 100 fans. 9 people's favorite thing. Than 100 years of your favorite thing.
The decision is made and we're on our way. We may lose, or maybe we might be 9 people's favorite thing.
9 people's favorite thing. When we open tonight.
But it obviously becomes the famous Peter Pan. In the number "What You Mean to Me," J.M.

Standing here all at once, all the words run dry.
Something changed. Can't explain, and I can't deny.
Turning in circles and blurring the lines, the unspoken is calling us tonight. I won't let A little bit frightened of my imagination. Swear I'll try. I'm feeling enlightened with my inspiration.
You can find it if you want to. I promise you faith will give you wings.
Just take the second star on the right, straight Straight ahead to the morning light. Just take the second star on the right, straight ahead to the morning light. Every word, every sentence doesn't seem to make a difference. Nothing can explain just what you mean to me.
Every shape and all the colors, all the pretty, all the other I'll never express just what you mean to me. My brain seems to have a feeling, references my senses.
Really, you cannot even say just what you mean to me. Turning in circles and burning the lights. And I won't lie, the field of night is my imagination's warehouse. Why, the flickering light is my inspiration. At the beginning of Act 2, as the girls are locked up in a women's penitentiary, please enjoy the MDT Women plus Nancy Bagley And Esprit Big Guns. From a man of no importance.
It was a long misty Sunday, we said our goodbyes, and I still could see her smiling, a tear in her eye. She said, "Love, please remember." No matter the cost, you may travel far, but love's never lost. So I traveled down the high road and far from funny. There were other misty places a boy had to see. By the wild I was taken, by storm I was tossed. But I told myself Love that loves never lost. Sunday, bringing you to the day. I came walking on air content, but she'd gone away. She was down in the churchyard, her head stoned and lost. We may travel far, but love's never lost. We may travel far, but love's never lost.

Choreographed by Addison Welch, we present to you Transylvania Mania. Throw away the walls, take away the two steps, and all that other schmaltz.
Are you surprised?
What's been going on? It's a dozy, it makes you woozy, it's the new phenomenon. Have you heard about the mania? Have you not?
Then let me explain. Yeah, yes sir, it's a Transylvania mania.
Whether you're in Great Britain, yeah, or a death hall in Albania. Yes sir, it's a Transylvania mania. Everybody who's been human can't resist it, some heal. Everybody out there doing it, millionaire energy, swimming in it, so enjoy the fun of it. Dancing with the ladies, I love it, it's the latest craze. Close the music, go to sleep, it's not dance floor pillowcading, I love it. You're the trash, maybe I'll eat ya. Just accept it, don't crania. Don't resist it, follow mania.
Come on kids, let's race in Cania.
Yes sir! Yes, sir. It's the latest craze. Oh!
Diana and Jeff throughout the show have a friends with benefits relationship, while Marcy and Austin are perfectly wrong for each other. Marcy goes to Austin after she has rejected him and tells him that even though he has many flaws, she loves him anyway. Austin gets offended by the "anyway" aspect of her love and rejects her. While Marcy tells Jeff she wants to have an exclusive relationship with him, Jeff responds with fear and says all of the negative things that would happen if they were to be a couple. They all go their separate ways. We now present But I Do for my lovely Becuz.
He won't commit.
He doesn't believe in love, not even a little. I'm questioning the things I thought I heard to be true.
I don't know why I love him, but I do.
I wanted him 'cause he was wrong. I'm not certain how, but somehow it's where I belong. He's an idiot and a stuffed shirt and a Republican. I don't know why I love him, but I do.
She's like every woman I've ever met who says casual's okay, but they don't mean what they say. There's nothing special about her. What does she look like? I forget. I'm certain I'm better off without her. I don't need her anyway.
I wanted him.
what's next? Just beyond the hill Just across the river. You thought that you knew how the path would turn.
One more thing to learn. Open up the gate. And wait for the story you never see. Wait for the. You know who you are, you figured it out.
You got the whole world in the palm of your hand, you're sure of your ways. You feel solid and strong, then someone comes in and shows you that you're wrong.
Why can't I explain? She's only a woman, there could be other women.
I barely survived, why is she driving me insane? I know he had women.
All that I know says I should leave her and go find someone new.
I don't know what I love. I don't need her anyway. But I do. But I do. But I do.
When the hard things in life come, just wait till you see what's next and what new opportunities lie behind the corner. With choreography done by Corey Wakamatsu and accompaniment and solo performed by Kelly Dahan, MDT would proudly present Wait Till You See What's Next.
One day comes and it feels like the end of the line. There's nothing to say, there's nowhere to go, there's no one to really listen. One day comes, I decide to claim what's mine. In spite of myself, I'm dying to know. What's across the road? What's beyond the wall? What's around the corner? And what will it take till I find my way? Will it be today? Will it be too late? Wait till you see what's next, just beyond the hill, just along the river. Something that's pulling me out the door, driving something more, driving You're on something great, and wait till you see what's next. Step by step, when it's hard just to see or to hear, a ripple of doubt, a slack in the pace, a small hesitation. Step by step, 7. At last, when the fog starts to clear, I open my eyes. I'm ready to see what's across the road, what's behind the wall, what's around the corner. What if it's not what I thought I'd see? If it's not for me, chalk it up to fate. Fate is you are What's next? Just beyond the hill, just across the river. You thought that you knew how the path would turn. One more thing to learn. Open up the gate and wait for the story you've never seen. Wait for the long night. Away. There's a flicker across the screen, coming to you. Coming now, just across the road, just beyond the wall, just around the corner, a new bit of history there to write. Something you all might underestimate. But wait till you see what's next. Just beyond the hill, just along the river, just on the edge of the great abyss. What you can't dismiss, what just came your way.
Wait till you see what's next. Just across the road, just around the corner.
Wait till you see what's next.
Just across the road, just around the corner. Wait till you see what's next.
Wait till you see what's next. There will now be— The musical shows that there is still kindness and happiness in the darkest of days.

So let's give them a scholarship. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of who knows, who knows, there you'll find something. In the middle of nowhere, in the middle of clear blue air, you found your heart, but left a part of you behind. If you look out your windows, you don't want to miss this. We just entered Texas! You found your heart but left a part of you. Somewhere in between the pace of life and work and where your goal is something it's yourself and no one except you. While in the moment, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of who knows, who knows, there you'll find something. In the middle of nowhere. No, I'm fine, Tom. I'm fine.

What's that playing on the radio? Why do I start swaying to and fro? I have never heard that song before, but if I don't hear it anymore, it's still familiar to me. Sends a thrill right through me, 'cause those words remind me the night that I first fell in love too. Those magic changes, my heart arranges a melody that's never the same, a melody that's calling my name and begging, please come back to me, please return to me, don't go away again. Oh, make them play again. The music I want to hear is the one again you whisper in my ear.
Oh, my darling.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I'll be faded by the radio. You will come back to me someday, I know. Bizzle, Bones, Central Laska, Clyde, Russ, Slim, and have a Friday night!
While the bass is sounding wild, the drops are pounding, beaten up by Robonaut, who climbed to first place, call it a draw!

I want you, I hate you, I love you forever and ever.
I want you, I need you, I love you forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. Forever and ever and ever and ever. Problematic friendships in the band, both in and out of high school.

Remember the lead singer of the Crooning Crapheads? Billy Ray was a preacher's son, and when his daddy would busy come along, when we'd gather around and start talking, that's when Billy would take me walking. Out through the backyard we'd go walking, then he'd look into my eyes. Lord knows, to my surprise, the only one who could ever reach me was the son of a preacher man. The only boy who could ever teach me was the son of a preacher man. Yes, he was, he was, who, Lord, he was? Being good isn't always easy, no matter how hard I try. When it started sweet talking to me, come and tell me everything is all right. Kiss and tell me everything is all right. Can I get away again? Am I the only one who could ever reach me? Was the sun a preacher man? The The only boy who could ever teach me was the son of a preacher man. Yes, he was. He was. Ooh, yes, he was. How well I remember the look that was in his eyes. Stealing a kiss from me on the sly. Taking time to make time. Telling me that he's all mine. Learning from each other's knowing. Looking to see how much we're growing. The only boy who could ever groove me was the son of a preacher man. The only boy who could ever groove me was the son of a preacher man. Yes, he was. Oh, he was. Oh, yes, he was.

Drink so deep we're seeing double. With no regrets, you can go somewhere cruising, cruising. The band of brothers you've been given, I never thought you'd feel it. The crappy life that you've been living, feels like it was real. When it gets rough, your buddies will pull you right through. You got it, boy, you joined —on the court, score a score for some kind of time. Some kind of time. Don't think it through, 'cause your heart will tell you what you gotta do. Some kind of time. But all that streaks, we are kings for any man. Don't miss out on some kind of time. Goodbye to Levi's and Applebee's and Nite-A-Store. So long to Waffle Cone and Twilight Zone and Leslie Gore. So, so pure, so elect, so short We're so connected to those little levers inside. May we all be so lucky, a dream start to sail. You're kind of like God that I'm used to. There's nothing I can feel. Nothing that I know. Dreams come and they go. Unfold them, keep them. And all that you need. Until your breaking point's all that you have. A dream is a soft place to land.
They will be so lucky. Performs the energized number Flashbang Wallet. If you like, get in line. Let's do as he says. Go on a prop program as momentum. All dressed up in a morning suit. How much are they not allowed? He barely came back in his prime to a trip to the Red Knapping. The There's always been a photographer to record the happy scene. Hold it! Hold it! That's big one! What a picture! What a big shot! What a photograph! Poor old soul, lying on the ground, had no glove in the club last night. Camera man playing on the big bass drum. What a picture! What a picture! Now go! Hold it! I need one more picture, please. Hold it. Now everyone say cheese! Cheese! Something happened long ago when man was in his prime, and what we are we only know from the snaps they took at the time. Adam and Eve in their birthday suit decided to get wed. When Adam was about about to taste the fruit, the man with the camera said, hold it. Hold it! And lose the silly grin. Hold it! I can't quite fit you in. You've read it in a folio or seen a Shakespeare play. How true is that saying, "The very one I mean, as he tries to climb the orchard wall, to reach his leafy crown." When he toppled, she began to fall as he floated through the air. Hold it. Let's give it one more bounce. Hold it.
Now watch me add 5 laps. He had several wives, including Anne Boleyn. He made an album of their lives with all their photos in. As Anne Boleyn was on her knees dressed in her very best robe, he angrily shouted, "Smile, you thief!" as her head rolled off the block. It's time to ride with fish!
Oh, I did not want this! When Napoleon married Josephine, there was just the same to-do. He galloped home from the battle scene on the way to Waterloo.
And as he came from Aulnois to the boudoir where she sat, she said to him— in French, of course—
As he took off his big, hot hat. There she was with the big dog on board of the luluwawa in the night. What a picture! What a picture! What a picture! What a picture! What a picture! What a picture!
Sing it in the family! Sing it in the family! Sing it in the family!
I'm hanging in the bathroom at the biggest party of the fall. I can stay right here or disappear and there's nobody he can go to settle. I'm a creeper in the bathroom 'cause my buddy kind of left me alone. Well, I'd rather fake pee than stand awkwardly or pretend to check the temps on my phone. Everything felt fine When I was half aware. Now for no fault of mine, there's no other half there. Now I'm just Michael in the bathroom. Michael in the bathroom. I'm partying. Forget how long it's been. I'm just Michael in the bathroom. Michael in the bathroom. Barbie, you can't come in. I'm waiting it out until it's time to leave. I'm picking at the route as I softly breathe. Michael, we don't know. Michael quiet, solo. Michael in the bathroom by himself. All by himself. I'm hiding, but he's out there just ignoring all our history. Memories that he erased, that all get replaced with a newer, cooler version of me. And I hear a drunk girl sing along to Whitney through the door. I wanna dance with somebody that I feel and see, 'cause he It makes me think. Now there's no one to make fun of drool girls with anymore. Now it's just— In the bathroom. Michael in the bathroom at a party. I half regret the beers. Michael in the bathroom. Michael in the bathroom at a party. As I choke back the tears, I wait as long as I can How long is that gonna be? Till my face is dry. Or I'll just blame it on a weed or something in my eye. I'm just Michael, we don't know. Michael flying solo. Michael in the bathroom by himself. Knock knock knock knock. They're gonna start shouting soon. Knock knock knock knock. Oh heck yeah, help me out soon. Knock knock It sucks he left me here alone. Knock, knock, knock. Here in this teenage battle zone.
Bang, bang, bang. I feel the pressure blowing up.
Bang, bang, bang, bang.
My big mistake was showing up.
Splash, splash, splash, splash. I pour some water on my face, that I am in a better place. I go to open up the door, but I can't hear knocking.
Or—
And I can't help but yearn for a different time. Then I look in the mirror and the present is clear, and there's no denying I just— I don't work here. Is there a sadder sight than Michael in the bathroom of a party? This is a heinous night. I wish I stayed at home in bed, or went just to ignore it, or wish I offed myself instead. Wish I was never born. Oh, Michael was a loner, so he must be a stoner.
Friends have Cruiser, that he's such a loser.
Michael playing solo, who you think that you know? Michael in the bathroom by himself, all by himself, all by himself. All you know about is my name. Awesome party, I'm so glad I came.
can you answer me? If I try? Maybe I can see your shadow? Down in the dumps. One week later. Writing a letter nightly. Now my life looks better every letter that you write me. Laughing at my sister 'cause she wants to form a harem. I'm just saying, if you really love me, you would share it, huh? Two weeks later. Stressin', the thoughts on my face while you're askin' for a blessing. I'm dyin', sigh as you wind up lying and I'm tryin' not to cry 'cause it's Nothing that you might have planned to do. The father makes his way across the room to you. In 4 seconds, they'll be brand new. No place for any sense of fear. Open up and meet your mother in heaven. Look into her eyes and you'll know that you've found a place. Down for the count and out for drowning. Helpless. Boy is mine. Helpless. Down for the count and I'm drowning. I'm helpless. I can't help it. Down for the count and I'm drowning. I'm helpless.

Where are you? Where are you? Will you answer me? In the quiet, all my ears are thirsty for your voice, for your voice. Can you answer me? If I try, maybe I can see your shadow in the story of mine that resonates as blue. If I tried, I might take a final farewell, and I'll travel along my journey very soon, very soon. That's the sound of longing. Are you there?
Are you there?
Will you answer me? Holy, only me when you move with the wind. If the world around him crashes apart, will you answer?
