Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act tells the story of aspiring disco diva Dolores Van Cartier. Sister Act opened in London in 2009 and then moved to Broadway in 2011 and then toured and went to several different countries all around the world. In this number, Dolores, played by Whitney Gilman, has made the transition from the disco life to the gospel choir life and prepares the nuns for their show by singing bless our show. We now present the women of MDT.
Bless our show, bless our music, bless the songs we're gonna sing. Bless the stage that we'll stand on when we stand and do our thing. Bless each line, every number, all the steps that we've rehearsed. And allow us, somehow, to be great at the worst. Bless each note and each lyric, help us try to stay on key. Bless the lights and the soundboard, bless our choreography. From the top of the downbeat till the final curtain call. Bless the day, bless our show, bless it all. Well, that's our prayer, everybody. Good night and God bless. No, no, no, no, no, wait, wait. There's still so much more to pray for. Well, what did I leave out? Bless the jam waffles in this inn! Bless our prompts, bless our costumes, give our sleep good night circuits. Bless our moves, may no killer let us nail the butt-keeping. Bless our wine, make us buzzed, help our booty shake on cue. Let us rest when we're stressed, till our breath shines through. Bless our riffs and arrangements, let our solos truly rock. Let us tear up the sucker till they hear us galloping. Let us lay down the boogie till it's melting cold to gold. Bless our pipes, bless our hats, bless it all. Let our voices gleam and glisten. Grant us strength to sing our best. And let all of those who listen feel made to our truly blessed. And our friendship, make it somehow real. Most of all, keep us smiling while we're strutting on our stuff. Let us live for the moment till our spirit fills the whole lot. We bless the big trees, bless the trees that are sitting in the trees. Bless the red light, bless the small light, let them light up every place. Bless our hearts, bless our souls, bless us all, bless us all. Bless our church, bless our sisters, bless our church.
