In this instructional demo, Rob Bagley, PhD walks viewers through the Focus2Career.com platform. He shows how to log in with a username and password, complete the various assessments, and interpret the results. The assessment categorizes a student's work interests and then matches them to potential occupations, illustrating the comparison with a typical job profile (e.g., a business professor) across tasks, required skills, values, work conditions, and education requirements. Users can save a preferred major or job, add personal notes, and as they answer more questionnaires the system refines its recommendations. Bagley also explains the follow‑up process: after completing the Focus2Career assessment and an emailed/text survey, students should visit Career Services, where a prize is offered for participation.

Okay, this is called Focus2Career.com. And so when you get your username and password, you want to log in here and you'll have these different assessments that you can complete. If you look into the assessment, once you've answered the questions, it's going to tell you your work interests are like these different categories of people. And then once you continue through that, you can find out, if I get this amount of education, what are some jobs that I might want to do? Well, let's say that you wanted to be a business professor. So it'll tell you what, what that job is like, what your tasks would be like, what skills you'd need, what values, what the work conditions, what the education requirements are. And then this tells you, based on your survey, Blue is you, red is the typical business professor. So it'll help you realize how similar you are to other people who've selected this job. Now, if you find a job that you're really interested in, you can either save this major or you can save the job. So if you're like, you know what, I might want to do something like this, you could say, well, it looks like I need to take some accounting maybe. And you can tell us why you like this, this job, and, and it'll save that major. And then as you go through and do the different questionnaires, it'll become even more informed on jobs that might be a good fit for you. So take this Focus 2 assessment, fill out the survey in the email or the text that we sent you, and then Let us know what you thought about it, and once you've done the Focus 2 assessment and you've filled out the survey, then come to Career Services and we have a prize for you.
