Shut up and dance with me! Well done, Christian! We are mere moments from victory! It is alright! We are young!
We are brave!
We are warriors!
Hi, welcome to Riverton NCC 2021 NCC Review. We're so happy to have you here tonight, and we hope you enjoy the show. Hi everybody, it's my honor to introduce to you tonight our accompanist, Mr. Kelly Kwan. Kelly Ahn has been heavily involved in Hill Center Theater shows and is also the choir director at Mountbridge High School.
So if you would, give it up for Kelly Ahn. And she was what? Then he started to swear and he clawed on a chair.
He was aiming at God, I was standing right there. So I swooped as hard as I could in the air, which is how I sent the house to melt.
What the I was there?
That's why you said you had to go. That's right, when the H is hard, just what the I was there?
You gotta live after, after FDR. You think that I scare? No scare. You think that I care? No care. I look at the world, no truth, nowhere, nowhere. When I am a boy, no school. I work in the ditch, no chance. The scorpion that reached right by, don't give no glance. I wasn't there because of them. I have this sickness in the stomach, which is the way I No funny. Man with the money. They control everything. Roosevelt to Hoover: No, they cannot eat plants. You think I care who I kill? I don't care who I kill. Long live the peace! —of course, every penny that was spent just like he were I was there. So if you might let him get a lot closer.
I started to wait, what did they know? This is my husband, fearfully.
Don't resist, but I said no, sir.
This pizza retreating's been a real success. I'm going with this.
Come back before we are past my guess.
That was the bet, just in time. I knew it.
You think I am left? No left, no right, no anything. Only American.
She becomes friends with Jesse, played by Noah Lee, who is the son of Maytok. Sailor Miller, and the brother of Miles, Dylan Curtis. They kidnapped Winnie in order to preserve their family secret. We now present to you the story of the Tux.
Once upon a time, once upon a time.
Can I start like that? You can start like that. Be patient with me, Winnie. I've never told this before. Once there was a man, a man with a wife and a family. That smiles at me. Betsy, let me tell the story. I don't want to start a war. We tore from the west to settle in the east, looking for a farm or some land at least.
Get to the part where I fall from the tree. Oh, you got it all wrong.
I was guessing. Then we found a wood. Yes, we found a wood. Can you guess which wood? Pine?
Sure could.
Where we found ourselves a clearing and camped for the night.
As the four of us —plus the cat and the horse, they clearly had food to eat.
Yes, Miles, of course. We slept by a spring near an old ash tree.
And that's where I carved the T. I see. In the morning, in the morning, we had no way of knowing.
Without even thinking, we drank from the spring. Who knew that spring would change everything? Except for the horse. Everybody drank, even the cat. Remember that? Who can lead a horse to water?
I think she knows the phrase.
So days went by, months and years of an ordinary life. No way to fear. The old horse died at 25. The cow was still alive.
We weren't chained, we were free.
We had no way of knowing. Nobody was thinking, it's because of the spring.
Who knew that spring Get locked up tight.
But I still don't understand. Enough! All right.
We're not aging, we're not growing, and none of us know why. Once upon a time, we drank from a spring, and now we'll never die. And that's the story of the tux. The end. 6 months out of every year from Danny.
When we met in 1938, it was November. When I said that I would be his mate, it was December. I reasoned he would be the greatest husband that a girl could ever find. That's why I freeze up. That's why I freeze up. Then April rolls around.
Strike 3, ball 4, walk around the lines.
Line up, line up, just gather hype. 5 months out of every year, my mind is lovely made of stone. 6 months out of every year when I'm with him, I'm lost. 6 months out of every year, it doesn't take me anywhere. 6 months out of every year, we're highly far. Solitaire. The other 6 months out of every year, we are hardly ever seen apart. But then the Washington Senators take over my place in his heart. 6 months out of every year, I might as well be wearing gray. Life is just not the word which I find. No escape, 6 months out of every year.
Strike 3, called for, off around the diamond's roof. Fly ball, double play, Yankees win again today. Those damn Yankees.
Dear Lizzie and dear Tom from Circles.
Dear Lucy, so I'm bored to the point of snoring, 'cause some dork called the flu this morning and decided not to join me. You missed out on Mr. Jenkins, all the class of Mr. Jenkins. And the way I sat and waited for you to walk through those doors, the way I laughed imagining the times we shared before. Maybe it was the other night or the fact that we hooked up, but when I looked up And saw you were gone, I realized we have a little bit more together. And I know we've been friends forever, but the truth is that I'm not afraid to say it. I love you, Lucy, more than you will know. I can't get you out of my mind, out of my mind. I hope this doesn't scare you away. I think about it every day since 4th grade when we made our first frame by putting the 4-year PB in shade. Now that it's out on the line, I'd like to take this time to apologize for the other night and how the light hit your face and made me want I didn't want to kiss you, moving too fast, but you kissed back, so how could I resist? It was a good thing, it was a good night, it was the best night, it was my first time, and now I see. Can we have a little bit more together? And I know we've been friends forever, but the truth is, and I'm not afraid to say it, I love you, Lucy Brown! More than you will know. I can't get you out of my mind, out of my mind, out of my mind, out of my mind. It's still another skinny little feeling. I don't know if I would ever have a chance with you. I mean, this really feels like everything. It's killing me unwillingly. I swear it's like a million little dreams come true, but I can't get with it until you admit it. You That you love me. Lucy, do you love me too? Because if you do, we have a little bit more together. I can't get you out of my mind, out of my mind, out of my mind, out of my mind.
From Tom. Dear Tom, I just got your letter and Oh my goodness, I feel much better, thanks for asking. Sorry I wasn't there to entertain you in that class today. Did Mr. Jenkins do that thing where he straightens his toupee? Oh well, anyway, I can't believe the words you had to say, 'cause lately I've been I've been feeling bad. We've been friends forever, so please understand my fear of screwing up something special and getting scared of something real. But I've been working up the courage for the last 4 years to tell you how I'm feeling and hope it's what you wanna hear. I've given up on that something. I didn't think it could be real. So no need to sound poetic. You're trying though, I get it. Just be you. You too I grew to like. Or whatever. Um, I could have said that better. You is who I grew to adore. So no more, no more sorrys. About the other night. We were living in the moment and just doing what felt right, so no more sorries I won't have. 'Cause the other night was magic, and after all, there's a first time for everything. And I've been working up the courage for the last 4 years to tell you how I'm feeling at moments of life you wanna hear. 'Cause I dreamed of you and me together through happiness and tears. I'd given up on that something that I didn't think it could be real. I'd given up on that something I didn't think it could be real. It's no stop without you and I. We talk so a lot, like a broken record. You have to shake me to get me to stop. My friends just hate me me because I won't shut up. And well, I think you're cute too. I'm feeling like I'm living in a dream come true, but I can't move on when I'm trying to move on. It's Margot or Spencer, and I'm calling it now. I've been working up the courage for the last 4 years to tell you how I'm feeling and hope it's what you want to hear because I dreamed of you and me together and happiness and tears. I'd given up on that something. I didn't think it could be real. I'd given up on that something. I didn't think it could be real. The answer is yes. Tom, I love you. I can't believe that this is real.
Boys performing the number By the Sword and Sons of Dixie. —still they quit. Let's raise up the glory and make them salute. Have we stopped all this talking and chew? Now the battle is here, now the moment is here. To keep him forever. When the blue meets the gray, every rebel will pay. We let go now, give us a great big parade. And maybe by then we'll have made our war once for all. The swords will bind up all, 'cause the union forever. By the angels above, by all that we love, by the sword, by the sword, by the sword. Now we awaken, our flag flying high, we'll deliver or die by the sword. I will not give in, to the power of the belief. I will not forget, you forget, I can't wait to forgive. So let's polish up our muskets and give the rebel a yell. We'll send them all across the theater, send them all to hell. We'll send them all running for the glory of Jesus' Son. So let them come a-gunning and we'll show them how it's done. For the sons of Dixie take to the field. When the battle is won, we'll be never revealed. When the sun's up, they see fire their guns, and we'll all see how fast that spear can keep runnin'. Now the battle is here, the moment is here, it's here to be forever. When the gloomy sun breaks, every rebel will pray. The sun's up in the city, and to the farthest out, one more weekend to go. The sun's up in the city, higher than God's. The fall's here fast as a sprint, and he runs with a flashlight in hand. You live or you die by the storm. See, I really couldn't sing.
I could never really sing. What I could do was— I have trouble with that at all. It goes all around my head. It's a terrible Fine. See, I really couldn't tell which note was lower or was higher, which is why I disappeared when someone said let's start a— Hey, what I'm into is a cross between a—
and a quick aura.
It's a little like a— on a record player, but it doesn't have it. And I know you're thinking, what a crazy See, I really couldn't— I could never really sing. What I couldn't do was—
3 blind mice! 3 blind mice!
It wasn't intentional!
She's doing her best. Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells!
It really blows my mind.
She gets depressed.
But what I lack in pitch, I sure make up in power. And all my friends say I am perfect for the shower. Still, I trip and fall. Although not to say that I'm a guardian angel. But when I begin to work, they think it's a little going potty sound. And when Christmas comes and all my friends go, Carol-y. It is so disheartening, it is so disquieting, it is so discouraging. Darling, please stop, answer.
Dream.
See, I knew we couldn't.
I could never really. What I couldn't do was—
and its many characters. We now present Prologue.
There's a war going on out there somewhere, and Andre is in tears. There's war going on out there somewhere, and Andre is in tears. There's a war going on out there somewhere, And Andre is in his pew. There's a war going on out there somewhere, and Andre is in his pew. That's nothing! This is only a program.
You are at the opera. That's how it will be.
'Cause it's a complicated Russian novel. Everyone's got 9 different names. So look me up in your phone. We'd appreciate it, thanks a lot. Diana, Diana, Dada, Natasha.
Natasha is young. She loves Andrei with all her heart.
She loves Andrei with all her heart. Natasha's young and Andrei loves her.
Antle is hot.
He spends his money on women and wine. He spends his money on women and wine. Antle's hot. More Antle's hot. Stronger, stronger.
He tosses young men on razor spears. Elaine is a slut. Antle's sister Mary. Antle's sister Mary.
War was over, I was living with my folks. I yelled upstairs, "Come on, off to grab some smokes!" My father called, "Why you need to smoke so late?" I lied, "I got a date." Free of my close enslavement, skipped along the pavement to see a brunette whom I never met, but I never will forget how she looked in that dress. How she stuck out her hand and said, "My name is Cecily Spinn." And I hope you like music, 'cause I've got tickets for La Traviata. That's when I said, I hate opera. She laughed and said, well, lucky for you that you're a Cecilie Smith. Who cares if you are disabled? Listening to, it's who you're listening with. We take our seats, her hands are folded in a flap. If not a kiss, then I will please forget it now. I close my eyes as the orchestra begins. Then I hear by whispers, like My neck was rising, a feeling new and surprising. What was the sound that made my heart pound? Oh, it was because I found that her hand was in mine. And that's where it will stay until they play the final chord. She says, "Were you bored?" And I said, I guess it wasn't quite so bad. It was the best time that I ever had. She laughed and said, well, lucky for you that you're with Cecily Smith. Who cares what you are listening to? It's who you're listening with. A perfect life, a perfect life. And suddenly there at the door, I still can hear her laugh. When I played on the ground, the music guided me. The sister sits beside me, a girl of 19 with nerves weary. Feel her head peeking to me as the melody soars. And though it wasn't real, It doesn't feel like it could be that night when you said to me, I got two tickets for the Tropiata. It's sad but true how much I miss you. I miss you, Sesame Street. Life is not the things that we do. It's who we're doing them with.
Distracted, couldn't take this apart. What started as union turns to isolation, and you are obsessed with your brain. My welcome sign is bright. My armor is force enough to be worth your desire. My trusty is commendable. I won't hold your heart astringent.
This man in your presence Something is stirring, shifting ground has just begun. Edges are blurring all around, yesterday's gone. Feel the flow. Oh, hear what's happening, hear what's happening. Don't you know we're the movers and we're the shapers? We're the names in tomorrow's papers. Up to us now to show off.
It's our time. Breathe in. World to change and world to win. Our time coming through. Hear, hear, from the angels. Feel how it quivers on the brink.
Everything Gives you the shivers, makes you think. There's so much left to see. It's so heavenly when we sing.
It's like the birds sing with music and hear their words tell us things they don't know. How to whisper Fear what's happening.
Long ago, all we had was that funny feeling, saying someday we'll send them reeling. Now it looks like we can.
Someday just began.
<LYRICS>These are the lines on the block. Give us room and start the clock. Our turn, moving through. Me and you, now me and you, me and you.</LYRICS> Something is stirring, shifting round. It's just begun. Edges are blurring all around, and yesterday is gone. What's happening. Don't you know we're the movers and we're the shapers? We're the makers of tomorrow's papers. Up to us now to show. It's our time, we're living Worlds to change and worlds to win.
Our time will be through. Me and you, how me and you.
Years from now, we'll remember and we'll come back. Find the rooftop and stake a plaque.
This is where we began.

The endu— how? The endu— the endu— Golin by Emma Otis. Seymour by Delilah Tanner. Please by Cece Hernandez. Powered by Kylie Hallett and par by Saber Miller. We are divorced, beheaded, live. Divorced. Behated. Died. Divorced. The headache survived. And tonight, Riverton High, we are live! Listen up, let me tell you a story, a story that you think you've heard before. Don't you know our names and our fame and our face?
No doubt about the glories and the Disgraces.
I've done this all this time, like, in just one word, in a stupid rhyme. I picked up a pen in a microphone. History's about to get overthrown. Dibbles beheaded, died. Dibbles beheaded, survived. But just for you tonight. Where did those, they're headed? Bye! Welcome to the show, to the history mix. Switching up the flow as we add the remix. Everybody knows that we used to be safe, wise. Raising up the roof till we hit the ceiling. Get ready for the truth that will be revealed. Everybody knows that we used to be 6 Ys, and now they're X Ys. and the way it ended, there doesn't beat a royal flush. We're gonna find out how we got unfriended. Tonight we're gonna do ourselves justice, 'cause the hate came in uniform. Every tutor rose has its thorns, and when I hear a liar in consort, it won't spare you. Listen to the beat till the break of day. Once the battle starts again, like it's a renaissance. Everybody knows that we used to be 6 wives, but now we're ex-wives. Her name is Catherine, a pair of thongs, was married to 24 kings, a pair of thongs. My loyalty is to the Vatican, so if you try to tell me— Ha! You won't try that again, you said. I'm that Berlin girl and I'm up next. See, I broke English from the church. Yeah, I'm that sexy. Why did I lose my head in my sleep?
Turn the beat up, get this party buzzing.
We want a creepy Wilbur's Half a Dozen. Everybody knows that we used to be snakes. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
And Justin Paul, we now present On Your Way Home, choreographed by Corey Wakamatsu. Where do you go when you're flying away? Where do you go when they can't make you stay? Over the garden and scraping the tops of the trees. On your way home. What is it like looking down on the beach, sailing through sky out of everyone's reach, suddenly free like a leaf, playing tag with the breeze? On your way home, on your way home. And when you get there, is it perfect? And when you get there, is a family waiting for you? I close my eyes and see them laughing, telling jokes, blankets. All of it true. How would they feel if your best friend came along too? Where do you go when you start to feel sad? Everyone's gone. No more mom, no more dad. Tucked in the clouds, is there somewhere you won't be alone? And when you get there, is it perfect? And when you get there, is there someone waiting for you? May I hold on to your wings and come too on your way.
Shoulder, and arguably his most well-known role, Samuel Sebring. He is the only original cast member from Hamilton still in the show. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020 and Broadway shut down, Dane returned home to Utah. Over the summer, Dane graciously volunteered to visit a workshop with Riverton High students. He was so impressed with the work ethics of the students that he offered to choreograph the following number for this review. Please enjoy the MDT class dancing to Haunted Heart by Christina Aguilera, choreographed by Thane Jaspersen.
What you said when you talked to me, every way your heart failed, suddenly you'll be into it. You'll be caught up in my web, you'll get caught in my snare.
It'll drive you insane, like the devil you Show has created multiple amazing songs, including The Greatest Star and People. Tonight we'll be hearing another song from the original Broadway show called Who Taught Her Everything, performed by Dylan Elliott and CeCe Hernandez. This song is based on a Fanny Bryce's parents, who are very proud of their supposed skills. We hope you enjoy it. Ready?
Ezekiel falls. Now she belongs to the ages. My work is done, my work is done. Our work is done.
She doesn't need us. She'll have cake, we'll have crumbs. Be careful of the stage door. Here she comes, here she comes. Hello, Fanny, hello.
Oh, Fanny, it's me, Mama. What do you mean, Mama? Who?
Oh, I haven't been able to see her from afar.
I lost the talent, but I gained the star. That's Broadway.
And who taught her everything she knows? I taught her everything she knows. She sings like a bird. Yes, indeed. But who used to stand there at the other seat? Taught her how to pick her clothes. Taught her how to tap her toes. But when she did it, kid, you said it. They all think they know her, I think I was too creative. Tell me, have you ever seen her take this pose? I taught her everything. How to open her eyes and see. I taught her everything she knows. It hurts me to say it, but why not be fair?
When you see her on the stage, you're seeing me there. She still has trouble executing one part. If they could make the price paid up by a rose in Christ, I'd stand up for it, be sure I'll sing it still. But in the world of Murray's Fantastical Way, it goes. We told her that Maren, played by Alyssa Moody, and Katie, played by Delilah Tanner, lead all the girls at North Shore High in deciding to be fearless. Wait, who is my boss now? Regina is gone. I'll wear what I want, which is what I have on, and the best. That's how it feels. To be free. I thought you would cave, but you stood up to her. You were strong, you were brave, you were witty. You know what you were? You were fetch. So fetch and free. Free. You were so fearless. Well, you didn't cry or hide or grow up so fearless. Well, no emotional trauma, that's fearless. Well, girls, my people need to grow up so fearless. No tender cries, much tougher than my mother knew what I was. Fearless, fearless, fearless, fearless. Fearless, fearless, fearless, fearless, fearless.
Notice that a select few have got a certain knack. The trick that's paved the way to all success. No matter what my other gifts, it's a secret that I lack. And until I get it right, my life will be The question I face every day is what you do with your arms. They just hang there getting in the way and the whole game's getting old. If you gesture too much, you'll go freaking crazy. Hold them, you're distant and cold. Put them in your pockets, well now you look lazier, like a person who'll never be bold. The next, a cinch, look left or right, but what do you do with your heart? I puff my chest, suck my stomach tight, but even my doctor says my upper arms too great. The legs are straight forward, I think we all get 'em. You can stand, you can sit, you can skip if you let 'em. You can cross 'em, recross 'em, or if the mood is right, spread 'em out. But what do you do with your arms? I never seem to figure it out, despite the years I've tried to rehearse. If I somehow got it wrong, I'd be king of the universe. Now I'm up here on center stage. What do I do with my arms? I want to reach out and fold in page, but it's hard to reach out with your arms. I don't want to be stiff, I don't want to be static. I want to extend, make my gestures dramatic, but somehow it all ends up vaguely aquatic. The life is gone with my arms. I've taken up knitting, long and thin string. I've taken up smoking. I've taken up boots. I vomit for apples before getting arrested. Surrounded myself with Italians and Jews. I've taken up the rain and anything honest. The YMCA dance sits on the rooftop. In school, it sounded music. I was the Nazi and I was super. I do porn fights and yoga. Last Halloween, I even dressed jumped like Jesus, who stuck his for hours and hours on end till the lady downstairs who was near 94 shut it up with the same infrequentness it stopped. I thought she was dead. Once upon a time, I fell down some stairs and I got hurt in a cast. It was such sweet relief, but it healed up so fast. Why do the best things in life never last? I know that I could move the light if I knew what to do with my arms. I'm sure I figured you're out the hands, but what are you doing? Not one but two, with elbows and shoulders and limbs all attached that bend in funny places and are awkwardly matched. I try and I try, these Always unsightly. No matter what, it just turns out wrong. I guess I'll give up and just wrap them tightly around you all night long.
Is for Richard and Marian's daughter. In honor of the occasion, the Jews and the Russians celebrate together for the first time in the show. Please enjoy the MDT men performing To Life.
Well, what do you think? What do I think? He likes her. He will make her happy. To our agreement, to our prosperity, to good health and happiness, and most importantly, to life! To life! L'chaim! L'chaim! L'chaim! To life! Here's to the father I tried to be. Here's to my right knee. Drink the high-o to life, to life, the high-o, the high-o, the high-o to life. Life has a way of confusing us, testing and bruising us. Drink the high-o to life. God, Buddha, I guess Buddha. Be joyful even when our hearts lie flat on the floor. How much more can we be joyful when there's really something to be joyful for? To life, to life, la heil! And I told my daughter, my wife, it gives you something to think about, something to dream about. Dream la heil! Tonight, march up! The wreath for everyone! I'm taking myself up a ride! Luck that favored you. We know that when good fortune favors two such men, it stands to reason we deserve it too. To us and our good fortune, be happy, be healthy, long life. And if our good fortune never comes, be true whatever comes. Drink high on— Please. May you always have a river future of your choice.
May you is about a garage band of high schoolers as they prepare for a battle of the bands, as well as their friends, family, and relationship struggles. This song is sung by Lisa, the off-and-on girlfriend of Chris, the band's lead singer. Lisa, played by Avery Umphrey, sings "Blue Hair" as she is trying to figure out how to navigate her relationship with Chris. Chris, as well as decide if she really wants to stay with him or gain the favor of his guitar-playing best friend, John. So I'm going to dye my hair blue. I'm independent, I'm totally rad. Going to cut my hair and make Ryan mad, and he'll make a snide face. These little things, you're not my dad! No! I said what I want to, and I wanna dye my hair blue! And it's gonna look like wonderful, super fantastic, coolest, remarkable! Wonderful, super fantastic, coolest, remarkable! Wonderful, super fantastic, coolest, remarkable, and blue! I bet John's gonna love it. I bet he'll say, man, I used to have blue hair back in the day. I don't pretend I didn't know that, and we all know it. No, I didn't know, didn't have a clue when I went and dyed my hair blue. You had nothing, had nothing to do with why I dyed my hair blue. No, I'm not one of those girls who does Screw their compliments, I know they're all over the place. I put blue in my hair 'cause I want blue hair. Don't care what they say back at school, but if John said he likes it, then it's like, whatever, you know? It's like, cool. And if he does, I'll be wonderful, super fantastic, coolness remarkable. Wonderful, super fantastic, coolness. He makes me feel wonderful, super fantastic, coolness remarkable. And loo!
Yeah!
I'm not the brightest. I'm not the most beautiful. I'm a really bad speller. I blend in. Everyone always forgets my name. I hide my box of buckbees— yeah— in the cabinet underneath my TV. I'm not the coolest, but pretty soon my hair will be. We now present— wait for me.
Mr. Herbens.
Hey, Big Artiste, ain't you working on your masterpiece? Where's your innocent? Oh, like you care. You'll find another muse somewhere.
Where is she? Why do you want to know? Wherever she is, it's where I'll go.
And what if I said she's down below? Down below? Down below, 6 feet under the ground below. She called your name before she went, but I guess you weren't listening. So just how far would you go for her? To the end of time!
To the end of the earth!
You got the ticket? No. Yeah, I didn't think so. Of course, there is another way, but nigh as close to safe. Another way? Around the back. But that ain't easy walking, Jack. It ain't for the sensitive soul. So do you really want to go?
With all my heart. All your heart?
Well, that's a start. How to get to Hades Town. You'll have to take the long way Down through the underground, undercover of night. Layin' low, stayin' out of sight. You will when you believe.
When you You will ban you. You will ban you.
