This excerpt captures a segment of the song “What You Mean to Me” from the musical Finding Neverland, performed at the 2019 MDT event. Three vocalists (Speaker A, B, and C) embody the characters J., Mary (played by Karcher Perkins), and Sylvia (played by Sarah Jane Hale). The lyrics explore their intertwined love and mutual influence, using recurring imagery of stars, wings, and imagination to convey inspiration, longing, and the transformative power of their relationships. Repetition and lyrical motifs emphasize the difficulty of fully expressing what each character means to the others, while also promising uplift and freedom through shared promise and imagination.

Chapters

J. May obviously becomes the famous Peter Pan. In the number "What You Mean to Me," J and Mary, played by Karcher Perkins, and Sylvia, played by Sarah Jane Hale, share their love for each other and their influences on each other's lives.
Something changed, can't explain, and I can't deny.
Turning in circles and blurring the lines, the unspoken is calling us tonight. I won't lie, a little bit frightened, but my Imagination swirled round. The feeling enlightened my inspiration.
And finally, water limes today will give you wings.
Just take the second star on the right, straight ahead to the morning light. Just take the second star on the right, Straight ahead to the morning light. Every word, every sentence doesn't seem to make a difference. Nothing can explain just what you mean to me.
Every shape and all the colors, all the numbers, all the flowers never express just what you mean to me.
Every instinct, every feeling, preferences, my senses really cannot even say just what you mean to me.
The feeling enlightened by inspiration. We can fly if we hold to the promise you made.
We'll give you wings. Just take the second star on the right, straight ahead to the morning light. Just take the second star on the right, straight ahead to the morning light. Every star that's ever fallen knows the way to where we're going. Now I really know just what you mean to me.
