Four singers perform "You Will Be Found" from Dear Evan Hansen, the song that premiered with the musical in 2016. The lyrics cycle through themes of isolation and loneliness, then pivot to a message of hope: you will be found, you are not alone. The song moves from darkness to light, built on the idea that reaching out and honest expression create connection.
A new Broadway musical opened November 14th, 2016. In the song "You Will Be Found," Evan Hansen, played by Noah Hilger, a young high schooler who struggles with an anxiety disorder, sings about being lonely and how one friendship can change it all.
Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere? Have you ever felt like you could disappear? Like you could fall and no one would hear? So let that lonely feeling wash away. Maybe there's a reason to believe you'll be okay. 'Cause when you don't feel strong enough to stand, you can reach out your hand. And oh, someone will come running. And I know They'll take you home. Even when the dark comes crashing through, when you need a friend to carry you, when you're broken on the ground, you will be found. So let the sun come streaming in, 'cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again. Lift your head and look around, you will be found. You will be found.
You will be found. You will be found. You will be found.
We don't have to be all on our own. After darkness, call out for a little end to woe.
If you only say the word, from across the silence, your voice is heard.
When you're broken on the ground, you will be found. So let the sun stream it in, 'cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again. If you only look around, you will be found.
You will be found.
You will be found. Out of the shadows, the morning is He's breaking and all is new, all is new. He's filling up the empty. Suddenly I see that all is new, all is new.
You were not alone, you were not alone, you were not alone. You are not alone. You are not alone. You are not alone.
You are not—
you are not alone.
Even when the darkness crashes through, when you need someone to carry you, when you're broken on the ground, you will be found. Just reach up and you'll rise again. If you only look around, you will be proud. You will be proud. You will be proud.
You will be proud. You will be found.
