In this monologue, the speaker challenges the common assumptions that young women who can afford luxury items are funded by influencer income, family wealth, or boyfriends. She reveals that most of these women are actually earning money through commission‑only sales roles for other people’s products or programs. The work is unglamorous—just a laptop, Wi‑Fi, a calendar, and a lot of conversation—but it provides a direct, performance‑based income that isn’t capped by a salary. She contrasts commission pay with salaried employment, explaining how salaries are set by budgets and replacement costs rather than individual value, which can erode confidence. Using her own experience—earning £900 in the first month while also working as a nanny—she illustrates both the upside (no ceiling, earnings tied to effort) and the downside (income variability). The speaker notes why this work stays invisible on social media: it lacks visual appeal and is tiring to explain. Finally, she encourages viewers to view sales as a learnable skill that can unlock financial freedom, urging them to look beyond the superficial explanations for how these women afford their lifestyles.

If you've ever watched a girl your age buying something that you could not afford and thought, how on earth is she doing it? I'm going to share the answer with you because the assumptions are always the same 3. Number 1, she's an influencer. Number 2, her parents have money. Or number 3, her boyfriend is paying it. And sure, sometimes that is the case, but the ones I actually know, the ones doing it on their own, are almost always the ones Doing the unglamorous thing, and nobody talks about it because, well, it doesn't photograph well. So I am going to tell you exactly what it is, how the money actually arrives, and why you've probably never heard of it. There are 3 explanations everyone likes to reach for when a woman is successful and when a woman has her own things, and most of the time they are wrong. The first is that she's an influencer. Sometimes true, but much rarer than you think, because the number of women actually earning properly from posting is genuinely tiny. Most of them are posting but doing something else on the side, and no one knows what that is. The second is family money. Also sometimes true, but impossible to know from a photograph, and I would honestly say we assume it To honestly feel better about ourselves and our situation. And the third is the boyfriend, and I'm not going to spend too much time on this one except to say we typically reach for this one the fastest when we see a woman that we are jealous of or annoyed by. And the reason those come to mind first is not because they're the most common, it's because they are the only 3 roots that most of us don't have ourselves. And if we've never had it ourselves, it allows us to take accountability off our shoulders and just blame it on external factors. Those girls must be lucky. Those girls much have something that I don't have. But it is not true. Almost every one of those girls that you see is selling something for somebody else. That is it. That is the unglamorous answer. They are not building a brand. They are not running a shop. They are not making a product. Somebody else has that. Somebody else has the product or the program, and they have people interested in that thing. And the girl that you're seeing online, all she's doing is having a conversation with that person's client and seeing if they wanna buy the product. That is it. And she gets a percentage of every sale she makes. And I know that sounds almost too ordinary to be the answer, and I promise you, That ordinary is exactly the thing that no one talks about. There is no photograph of this. There is no one documenting this because it doesn't sound exciting. It's a laptop, a Wi-Fi connection, a calendar, and a lot of talking. That is it. But it is genuinely what most women I know with a nice life and no business are actually doing, and it's what I did. It is a commission only sales role, and commission behaves completely different to a salary. With a salary, the money arrives because the time passed. You were there for a month, so a month of money arrives whether you were brilliant at it or whether you were just kind of having the worst month of your life. The number stays the same. With commission, the money arrives because something happened. Someone decided to say yes. You were the reason it went so well. You were the reason they said yes. So a percentage of that sales goes to you. The difference sounds small, right? But it is enormous. And I want to be honest about the bad times. The bad times means the bad months. It means that you feel a bit of scarcity for a minute because you're adjusting to the effort that you put in is the result you get out. For context, my first month I made £900, and I was doing it part-time because I was working a nannying job in the day Just to cover my rent. But it also means the ceiling is not set by anyone. No one has to approve it. There is no meeting about it. There is no salary cap. It's all down to you. A salary is priced to keep you. Commission is priced to what you bring in. Sit with that, because once you've heard of it, you will notice it literally everywhere. Your salary is not a measure of your value. It is a number chosen so that you will stay and so that you will not go looking around for what else is available. It is set by what your replacement would cost and by what the person above you is paid and by what the budget was set for the company last year. None of those are you. Not one of those is a measure of how good you actually are, which is why you being excellent at your job literally means nothing, which has probably been chipping at your confidence year on year. Because really, no matter the work, no matter the time, no matter the skill you put into that salary job, nothing is going to change. Whereas commission has none of those qualities. It is a percentage of a thing that happened. That's it. It is literally the least emotional pay structure there is because it directly correlates for the work you put in and And the results you get out. That is it. So no, it's not a secret. It's just honestly too boring to post about. Nobody wants to make a reel about their 5th close of the day. There's no aesthetic calendar that you can look at, and people who are doing it well, in my experience, are quite private about it, partly because it sounds a bit too unglamorous at the social gathering, and partly because they're so Tired of explaining it, so it stays invisible, and the visible answers stay as the influencers, the parents, the boyfriend, and a whole generation of women are missing out on this opportunity because no one is talking about it. But there is another way. It's a skill, and you can learn it. It's being able to confidently speak to people and actually listen to what they want. But it sounds too simple. Like even when I started this, it sounded so simple. I didn't tell any of my friends because. I genuinely thought they wouldn't believe me. So if you've been looking at those girls and doing the maths and not getting anywhere, it's because they're doing something that you don't know about. It doesn't appear in the pictures, it's not quote-unquote glamorous, but it is the vehicle that is unlocking the life that they live.
