Hello and welcome to this episode of the Becoming Bulletproof Podcast. I am your host, Tracy o'. Malley. And you know, I have been doing a lot of talk the last few weeks about leverage and business, how important it is. It's everything, quite honestly. And if you are trying to build a legacy or a financial wall around your legacy and family, build wealth, residual income, whatever that looks like for you, working smarter, not harder, let me tell you, that's where the good juice is. And so today we're going to be talking about how you can use the Enneagram to leverage and build wealth. And you know, I've talked a lot lately about the Enneagram and how it's kind of trendy, but there's like this superpower about it that so many of you have no idea about that you're not using. And that's what we're talking about today. It is one of my favorite, favorite things to bring to corporations, to workplaces. I do a lot of chatting with businesses around using the Enneagram.
In effective ways because once you understand how to use it in integrity, it helps everyone. It isn't something that you use to manipulate anybody. It isn't something that you use to get people. I'm using air quotes right now. It is actually something that brings out the best in everyone, even if they're not like you. It speaks a language to every person that you're in front of. So the what's in it for me thing is really, really important. When you can speak somebody's language, they're more likely to work with you or to work harder for you if you're their employer.
So what is the Enneagram in basics? And if you've been following me for any length of time, you've heard me talk about it a lot. And like I have told you before, I have been a student of it for, gosh, a little over seven years, years now. Before, it was this trendy, cutesy little personality thing that people are throwing around. It's been around a long, long, long, long, long, long, long time. But for me, it was introduced seven years ago. And if you're like me and you aren't into those things and you're like Trace, you know, that's all fine and good, but I don't want to be put in a box. I don't want to put people in a box. I don't want to label myself or anybody else. And I want you to know, I hear you. I feel you. I was you. I thought the same thing about it. However, it happened to be introduced to me at a time when, you know, my best thinking had gotten me into some not so great places. Now, don't get me wrong, I am the type of person that can succeed. I am always somebody that just gets shit done. I always have been. It's one of my strengths. And what was the motive behind that? Doesn't really matter today. But I want you to know that I could make things happen no matter what I did. Was it always effectively? No. Was it always for the right reasons? No. Was it always fulfilling? Absolutely not. So when I was introduced to Enneagram seven years ago, I was at a point in my life where nothing seemed to be working at this point. Little bit of rock bottom, ground zero moments. And so even though I was resistant to this, I figured, well, if I want something different, maybe it's going to require something different of me. So I was open to learning about it. I was introduced to it by my therapist, ironically, and she had some experience in it. I'm still fighting this cold, by the way. And when it was revealed what my type was on the Enneagram, I was like, well, this makes a lot of sense. Why I am able to get shit done. Why I am able to power through like a bulldozer, any task or goal. And it was also very evident as why to why people were threatened by me, intimidated by me.
They would scatter when I would come in a room. And that's fine, but it's not like it was fine for my ego and for my level of protection in my heart, which was so subconscious, just so you know.
But it wasn't an effective way to lead. And it was very lonely. And after a while, it just. Just doesn't work anymore. I'm telling you right now, regardless of what age you are, as you grow in wisdom, that kind of shit doesn't excite you anymore. So I was open to it. So I learned the Enneagram seven years ago, and I've been studying it ever since. And I have effectively used it, obviously in my own life. I used it first and foremost in my family and my own personal life, because clearly I was a shit show for a little bit, which we all are. So you might be sitting there, well, this doesn't apply to me. Let's just be real. We have all had shit show moments in our lives. Whether it's in our health, our families, our relationships, our business, our finances, whatever. We've had those moments. So.
I started using it first and foremost to understand myself. Because if we want to do things and be effective in sales, we want to be effective in leading, coaching.
Building businesses, or being the best person we want to be. We must first understand ourselves. And so this was a great tool that didn't make it so complicated because when I started learning it, I had four decades under my belt so far. And to try and unpack that much shit seems a little bit overwhelming. And if I had tried to tackle it all at once, it would have been. But this tool of the Enneagram allowed me to make sense of a lot of it really quickly. If that makes sense to you. I could. It. It was very tangible, understandable. It allowed me to have compassion for myself instead of the shooting all over myself or the beating the shit out of myself that I had been doing for so long, all of a sudden, just understanding it allowed me to make sense of things and have like, super low attachment to what that meant, but a super high involvement of how I was going to use this growth map to move my life forward, first personally, then in my family, and then in my business. And so why is it important? You know, if you're trying to build wealth, it involves sales of some kind. Whether it's in real estate, if you need to be investing, if you work with anybody to build wealth, you have to leverage a lot. And that usually involves other people. And anytime you are dealing with other people, you need to know that not everybody's gonna talk like you. And if you are like me. There was a time in my life that I would try to bully people to being and believing and speaking and moving and operating like I did. And there were some people I could get to do that. And I wore that as a badge of honor sometimes and just being really freaking transparent with you.
But that isn't sustainable. And do you really want people operating out of fear or intimidation? No, I promise you that. Even if, like, part of you is like, well, hell yeah, if that works, then fine. It never feels good at the end of the day. And if you're somebody that thinks that feels good, then you can probably just shut off my podcast right now because I certainly will probably either trigger you or, or piss you off, or both.
But anytime we're dealing with people, and I think we live in an age today where the human connection is so.
Watered down with social media. And I'm here to tell you, social media can be super effective and beautiful and do amazing things, and it could also water down real human connection. Even if we do coaching and stuff online, we still have to have this human to human interaction to have fulfillment at the end of the day. We really, really do. Even if you're more introverted like I am, we still need human connection. So it's important to understand this tool if you really want to work smarter, not harder. And especially if you're introverted like me. All my introverts, introverts. Right now, I want you to listen. The ones in the back, I want you to listen. Especially if you're introverted. Can you imagine having a tool that allows you to spend less time with people but move the needle faster? Like, hello, spoke my language. Like, if I could skip the small talk, which is like torture for an introvert, if I could spend less time with people but feel more filled up when I was with them. Yep, I was open to that. And so especially when time is so valuable, it's the one resource you cannot get back. I don't care how much fucking money you have, time you don't get back. So would you agree that having something like this, a tool that can move conversations fast into just beautiful, organic, elegant, profit building, even, especially if it's in business, like, wouldn't that be better for you? You can know that you can work smarter, not harder. And why do you need it? You know, I can tell you this, what my business life looked like before I understood this part of me and, and then using the enneagram, moving forward. Like I said, I could crush goals. I strive to be the very best I could in everything I did. And I did a pretty decent job at it. It was unfulfilling, it was lonely, it was painful. I hated most of it. You know, I. People have always said, you're so good at sales. And I was like, I'm not a salesperson. I'm not. But everything is sales. Every single Thing, everything is a transaction when it comes to business in some way, even if it's heart centered, I get that, like I do a lot of my work that is so heart driven. And there's still transactions, whether it's just an emotional transaction or even a financial transaction. So I, like I said, I could get people to do things out of flat out intimidation. And that's not an effective leader because when all hell breaks loose, the people are going to run and they're going to go to what feels good and what feels safe. And at the end of the day, every single person, including myself, even when I was in the throes of my unhealthiness, of my enneagram type, we all just want to be seen, heard and understood. And when we are asking people for their greatest resources, which are time and money.
Wouldn'T you agree that speaking their language can be very, very important? And creating a space that's safe and, and like compassionate and understanding, where they can be seen, heard and understood is important. I would agree.
And so seven years ago when I was overhauling my life, this was a tool that I used, not knowing I would end up using it in business. Because let's be real, at the time I retired from my career, not by choice necessarily, I hated what I did.
But.
I knew I needed to do something different and I went the radical route and like burned all the boats kind of thing. I don't recommend it if you don't have to do that, but the type of person I am, sometimes I operate best without a safety net. Scary as fuck, let me tell you. But when I started to understand myself and then my family, my two children.
Six months later is when I was introduced into network marketing. And.
Perfect time to build a network marketing company or network marketing team when you have wiped out your entire social network, when you are fresh out of rehab, when you have pretty much burned every bridge that you've ever walked across. Yeah, I'm that single mom that went to rehab. Please join my team. Wasn't going to work. It wasn't. And so how did I use it, you know, once I understood myself. So I want to reiterate this. You must first understand yourself fully so that you can have compassion for yourself first. Because if you can't deliver the compassion for yourself, you're not going to be able to give it to your family or your clients or your friendships or your spouses and partners. You're not going to be able to, not effectively.
So how did I use it in my business? So knowing that I Had very little to work with. I needed to leverage every human being and not in a manipulative way. Like said, I needed to be able to use the power of understanding personalities at such a deep level so that I could speak the language of whoever was in front of me. Understanding this, I knew that most people did not operate, communicate, think, believe, like I did. And it was no wonder that even though I could move the needle, most people didn't feel connected to me. And at the end of the day, everyone, everyone craves connection. And so in understanding the enneagram and all the types, I could speak the language of what was in it for them, for everyone in front of me. Not only that. So if I was looking for sales or clients, I could speak what was in it for them genuinely. Not for necessarily my own good, but for theirs. If you believe in what you're doing, whether it's selling houses or selling a product or coaching, or you're leading organization, or you're a corporate executive that is in charge of a sales and marketing team, or you're the CEO.
To speak what's in it for them is really, really, really important. It's how you get everybody on board for the greater mission, the greater good. And isn't that what we're all after? I knew what I had to offer. And at the time it was the product and the opportunity of building an organization. I believed in it so much that all I needed to understand was who was in front of me and speak their language in a way that they could receive it. I speak a very different language than most people and so do you. And I knew if having, I knew having a bunch of me's around, although we would get shit done, there would be a lot of drama attached to that because that's a lot of intensity. Let's just be real. Not only that, not only the what's in it for them conversations, but knowing what I was working with, who I was working with. I knew their core motivations, even if they didn't. I knew their core fears and desires. You know, knowing their fears, I could fight that objection for them and not just fight it with lip service, but know the way, go the way and show the way with them and elegantly take them through that and empower them. I didn't want to turn them into Tracy. I never did. Because so many of you, even if you're in the network marketing spot, or you're a leader or you're a manager in a company, or you're the head of your home.
You are Trying to get anybody that you lead to speak like you, to be like you, to think like you, to believe like you. And they might, short term, especially if they're in a hard place. But at the end of the day, don't you really want people to be their very best for who they were designed to be? And when I understood the power of that, I could bring out the best in every single person. You know, when we see somebody that we admire that's successful, you know, I've always said I wouldn't take advice from people that I wouldn't trade places with. Or even in my early days of recovery when I was told to find a sponsor, you know, find somebody that has what you want and then follow their lead.
That is good. And it's really important to take what you need and leave the rest. Right. Because there are some people that I admire and are mentors to me and they have very different personalities from me. So I can take the nuggets from them and use my personality with it. Because if I tried to be them, although could I get results? Sure. Would it be sustainable? Hell no. Would I feel like an imposter in it? Absolutely. And so what I found is knowing what I was working with and allowing people to be who they were with certain skill sets. But it was blanketed in their personality and their authenticity. They could go the distance. Not only would they be more productive, they would be more passionate about it.
They would have higher productivity. And at the end of the day, all those put together equals more profits, which. That is how you build wealth. Right.
So, you know, we're in this land of, you know, find your niche, find your niche. And I totally like, especially if this is new to you. Absolutely. But more importantly than knowing what problem you solve, once you know what problem you solve, then you must know there's another part. There's another part where a lot of you are missing. You know the problem you solve, whether it's a product or service, whether it's coaching, whether it's, you're leading an organization, whether you're, you know, the boss and CEO of a big corporate company, you know what problem you solve, you have your avatar, you know all the things, you know the value journey, you know the hero story, you know all that. But do you know exactly who you're talking to? This is a piece that so many of you are missing. And the Enneagram can help you with that when used properly. So often I also use it kind of used as a weapon or a wall, even in business. I've seen this, especially as this becomes a little more trendy. I hear people say it, oh, you're an eight. Oh. And they prejudge. It is not Judge Judy time, y'. All. This is not to be used as a weapon, not just on other people, but equally so, not on yourself, which is something I did for a long, long time. And it's also not to be used as a wall. I very easily could have read that I was an eight, the challenger, and said, you know what? Deal with it. That's who I am. I ain't changing. And that's pretty much how I operated early on most of my life. It's not going to work if we operate it, operate with it that way. It is to be used as a beautiful, elegant growth tool and map. And if you are leading people, it is your responsibility to help empower them to be who they are, not who you are. And the only way you can do that is to know yourself so fully. I also want you to know that all numbers are great in all industries. I get this question a lot, you know, because I'm well known in the network marketing space. And there's a lot of twos in the network marketing space. And they are typically the helpers. That's the name of the two on the Enneagram is the helper. And they have such high levels of compassion and empathy. But when they are in an unhealthy zone, they can get addicted to helping people. So much so that they have resentment because nobody's helping them and they kind of expect mind reading. Right. But a two that is healthy in the network marketing spot is probably the most powerful number on the Enneagram in network marketing. When they're healthy because they have compassion, they are relatable. They do have empathy. They do have credibility because they wear their heart on the sleeve. Right. So all numbers are great in all industries. And I see some of you, I'm watching, you're using it as a weapon on people. The key is. Yeah. Do some.
Types do better in certain industries? Yes, to a degree. When they're healthy? Yes. And then knowing what you are and then building the other types around you. So as an eight, I knew that I really didn't need many more eights around me because that would just be a lot, a lot of intensity. And so most like the team that works for me, I have a seven and a two that work for me. One in the heart triad, one in the head triad. And I'm the instinctual one. And so I was very strategic on who my power partners were, not just in my organization, but then in my network marketing business. And then I was able to leverage everybody's strengths where it felt really good for everyone. This person wasn't trying to be like Susie. Susie wasn't trying to be like Karen. And everybody's strengths were shining bright. And you know what happens? It moves fast. It becomes like a locomotive, momentum. And this will allow you to build a legacy.
So who's this for? It's for everyone. Honestly, like you're listening to this probably because of the title, how to use Enneagram to build Wealth. And I get that, like I said, sales. The world revolves around sales. You are getting hit up in your Instagram feed and your Instagram stories, Facebook, LinkedIn, even we are getting sold. And I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Sales is what keeps the economy going. It keeps the world going around. It gives people jobs. It's amazing. But wouldn't you. It's a numbers game too. And so wouldn't you like to leverage the amount of number of people that you need? Little fun fact about me and leverage and sales and numbers. I'm going to take you back again. Six and a half years ago, when I started in network marketing was no social network. Introverted tendencies. Single mom that just got out of rehab joined my team. Not going to work that way. Right.
And so I leveraged every single human that I talked to, spoke what was in it for them. Genuinely, I empowered them in their personality. So it felt good and it was sustainable and they could go the distance and feel really freaking good about it. 82 people I leveraged in 26 months. 82 people. Those 82 people generated 15,000 new people in our organization. And those 15,000 people created my first million dollars in income in 26 months. That is the power when used in integrity and for the right reasons. How the Enneagram can help you. It's really, really important. Marketing. I can speak to a very select, very select people. Am I a good self promoter? Absolutely not. Especially as an 8. It feels very vulnerable and raw for me. It will never be one of my greatest strengths. It's something I continuously have to work on. However, when I speak, I speak truth and people know it. And that is one of my greatest marketing techniques. To be honest, it's not even a strategy. It's just who I am. So I play to my strengths. If you are in marketing or you're marketing yourself, wouldn't you rather play into your strength and try to be what Susie on instagram is like because it gets old and then you isolate and then you have to do I'm taking a social detox party. And all the shit that you say, just allow yourself to be you. But you got to know what you're working with. And I mean all parts, not just the dark parts that you tend to hyper focus on. Trust me, I know, I used to do it too. But even your strengths play on your strengths. And when you play on your strengths, you'll know exactly what to build around you. Corporate executives and realtors, anybody that builds a team in corporate America, your profit margin is really, really important. And getting people productive and passionate about the mission is important. And when you can speak to their strengths and speak to empower them and show them what's in it for them and incentivizing them, incentivize them in a way that works for them, you will move the needle in your companies so much faster. You will have team unity. You will have a morale and a community and a culture of your organization that is un fucking stoppable. I have seen it, I have helped people do it. It's incredible. And for all you coaches out there and lifestyle entrepreneurs out there, if you need to move the needle fast, and I know many of you do because I hear you, you hit me up in the DMs. Wouldn't you like to be able to add so much more value and accelerate transformation that you provide people, whether it's in money, health, body, business, whatever that is. The reason I am an expert master coach is because I know I can move the needle faster than almost everyone using this tool and a lot of my other tools. But this is the first tool out of the toolbox, always the enneagram. I need to know who I'm working with so I know how to speak to them, so they know what's in it for them, so I know where their strengths and their, their maybe hang ups are. And I can figure that out within 10 minutes. And wouldn't you agree that for some of you that's taking maybe four or five coaching sessions with somebody. Wouldn't you like to be able to do that in 10 minutes? Team building and network marketing. I know a lot of you listening are in network marketing companies, all sorts of network marketing companies.
You must leverage your team. You must. And not just for your greatest good, but for theirs to have a sustainable organization. You know, building residual income. We throw that word around like it's easy and it's not. It's hard freaking work. But wouldn't you Agree that it would be much more fun to be able to leverage everyone's strength so it was sustainable for the long haul. So if and when something happens in your life where you need to take a step back, be with a family member, be with your own health, your own whatever, take a vacation that you can walk away from your organization, whether it's for a day, a week, a month, or even a year, like I had to at one point. And to know that it was going to grow, the only way it will grow when you walk away is if you build it in a sustainable way. And using the enneagram and to empower your leadership is a huge way to do that. You want it to be a well oiled machine. And one of the last things I'm going to talk about is torque versus horsepower. I was in the car industry for 15 years and I would much rather talk about cars than clothes, to be honest with you. I love cars. Not like fancy schmancy cars. I like powerful cars. I drive a big old lifted pickup truck with a V8 engine that is super powerful. And the reason I love this analogy, because we talk about horsepower, horsepower, horsepower, but the thing that's so underestimated is this thing called torque. So the difference between torque and horsepower is horsepower might get you somewhere quicker, right? We talk about engines that I can get to 0 and 0 to 101.2 seconds, whatever, you know. And if you're somebody that likes to move fast, horsepower might be your thing.
But you also know that you can't go that speed for that long without burning out, right? Torque is the capacity to do the work. You can have torque without horsepower. You can't really have horsepower without torque. So, you know, I've had torque for a long time. I have had the capacity to do a lot of work for a long time. When I wasn't doing something I was passionate about, I didn't kick in a lot of horsepower. But I always had a large capacity to do the work. Now when I get excited about something because I have this high level of torque, I can turn up my horsepower. And when the two work together, holy shit, you talk about rocket ship momentum. You need them working together. So this torque and this enneagram, the enneagram can be part of your torque tool here, your torque process, it allows you to work smarter, it allows you to have greater capacity to understand and do effective work. And then when you actually find what you're passionate about, you step on the gas and it's all, all systems go.
You know, I'm pushing 50 and you know, I'm faced with, wow, I have a lot more time, I have a lot less time left on earth than I've had. And I don't say that to be morbid. It's just like this is reality and this is the perception of which I operate and the wisdom of which I operate every day. And I've made lots of money, I've had super successful businesses, I have an incredible relationship with my children, healthy. I don't look a day over 40, let me tell you. I can honestly say that most people think I am about 30, 35.
And I know that that's all great, but the one thing I can't get back is time. And so this is so important, especially as you build a legacy.
One of the greatest reasons I built the legacy I did is, you know, seven years ago I told you that I had hit my rock bottom moment. And it came on the heels six weeks earlier of losing my dad to a 12 day cancer diagnosis. And my dad was somebody who.
You know, he was raised by depression era parents and he was not one that had a lot of fun in his life. I mean, he had fun, but he was a hard worker, very, very hard worker. And when he got his diagnosis and he was told he didn't have much time to live, ironically, that's all he wanted back was time. And so it was on the throes of that that I hit rock bottom and realized that life is too short and at any moment it can change on a dime. And I didn't want to be blindsided by something without the tools and resources to be able to not only do what I was called to do, the way that I was called to do it, but I also wanted to be able to be where I needed to be when I needed to be there, whether it was for my children, for family, for my own health, which all have applied in the last six years. And so I know you're listening today and I know how badly you want to grow this financial wall around yourself. I know how badly you want a legacy, not just financially, but you want to leave this earth being proud of what you did, knowing you made an impact. I know it's not just enough to influence people because I was able to influence people before I learned all this. And it didn't always feel good. Let's just be real. I hate the word influencer. We're impact makers. We're impact makers. And I know if you are listening to me and have followed me at all, I speak Your language, that is what you desire. Don't waste another day without the right tools in your toolbox. It doesn't have to be as hard as you're making it. You don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars today. That comes later. But, you know, spending that kind of money before you even know who the hell you are is kind of pointless, to be honest with you. In my opinion. Other people might tell you different. And I have coaching programs that are expensive, too. So, like, I get that. But I really want you to understand you first, so you can do what you were called to do, what you are innately designed to do, and then to do it with all your heart, all your might, taking that torque and horsepower and then blasting the fuck off. And you're going to impact a lot of people while you do it, and it's going to feel really good. I want you go to. I want you to go to bed at night feeling like, you know, what if my number gets called tomorrow? I know I've done good works. I've done good works here on the earth. And, you know, I don't know what tomorrow looks like for me. Tomorrow's not promised. Shit, my time could be called before I even have this aired. I don't know. And I don't say that to be all weird and morbid, but we are not guaranteed tomorrow. When are you going to stop wasting time? And I had to look in the mirror and ask myself the same question. It is possible. It is possible. And this can be one of the greatest tools in your toolbox that helps you move the needle faster for not just yourself, not just for your families, but for everybody that you want to make a difference their life with. So if you found this at all intriguing, interesting, like, you're having holy shit moments, you pulled over to the side of the road and you're taking notes, or you're out on a workout or on a run or walk, like, which is when I usually listen to my podcast. I'm usually on a walk or a run when I'm doing this. And I have my notes section in my phone. So while I'm listening, if I get golden nuggets from so many of you that I listen to, I jot it down. And I always share the things that I love the most. So if you found this super helpful or you know that the people that follow you could really benefit from this message. It would mean the world to me if you share it. I would love what this did for you. Tag me in it. Whether it's on Facebook or Instagram or LinkedIn or any of the things and tell me how this landed on your heart. I can help you with this. It has become my passion to help you speak this language so we can all serve the greatest good and feel more connected than we ever have in our entire lives. I'm so grateful for each and every one of you. I'm so grateful for the messages that you send me. It means the world to me to know that I am helping you help yourself and help so many other people.
