Let's go.
Hello and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Bulletproof podcast. And today is going to be a quickie. You know, we are strong into the first month of 2021, and I see this trend every single year. You know, you start the year with all these goals and depending on your Enneagram type, some of you have like pages and pages and pages of go. And others of you are a little rebellious around planning the goals. But either way, I know that if you're an entrepreneur, you probably have found yourself constantly fluctuating between that this is great. I'm really doing this to. Oh shit. This is never going to work. Who am I to do this? And while the ride can be both fun and rewarding, if you are being really honest, you can also admit that it can be taxing. It's tough on you, on me, on anybody, on everyone. It's tough physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and especially energetically. And I've talked a lot about energetic bankruptcy. I'm going to do more episodes on that because I think when we can use our energy effectively, that's when we can really, really move the needle in what we do. And so today I'm giving you leadership formulas and that's kind of the direction this podcast is going to be going. It's all going to be around leadership. And I'm not limiting leadership to just outside the home. Also inside the home. Sometimes it's the most important leading that you do. And if this resonates with you and you want to have a guide show you the way, somebody that has known the way and gone the way, I can show you the way as well. Please reach out to me. I love doing this. I spend.
So many hours a week doing this with many of you, with teams, organizations, individuals, families, spouses, couples, business Partners, you name it. And if this is something you want to dive deeper in, please don't hesitate to reach out@traceeomalley.com, the work with Me section. You can also find me on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Tracyomalley and I would absolutely be honored to take you through the journey and walk alongside you to really use the framework of the Enneagram and integrate it into all aspects of your life so you can work smarter, not harder. So I thought for today's quick episode I would give you a little tip, one little tip for entrepreneurs of each Enneagram type. And this applies not only to entrepreneurs, but everyone, in my opinion. Because I think each Enneagram type is motivated by one core motive. And this applies to all aspects of your life. And quite honestly, when I quit compulsion compartmentalizing who I was for different situations, things got a lot easier energetically. I wasn't drained. So the more that we can be ourselves in all the situations and not wear so many damn hats, even though we have many different tasks in our lives, you know, how you see me with my children, how you see me in my three businesses and relationships and friendships is pretty consistent. And that honestly saves me a lot of energy. So I'm going to give you one little tip for each Enneagram type. I would love to hear your ideas on other tips and tricks that you have seen work for your type. You can tag me on Instagram, you can hit me up in the DMs. I would love for your information that has worked for you and your Enneagram type. Also, I would love to bring you more of what you desire around the integration of the Enneagram. So please give me all the goods that you want to learn about in regards to the Enneagram. I am an open book. I've learned a lot over the last decade and I am always continuing my education on the information and integration of the Enneagram. And since I use it so much in every aspect of my life, I am the person to show you the way with it. All right, so let's dive in. The ones the Enneagram ones, the improvers and the reformers, otherwise known as the perfectionists, for you find good enough. You guys really are so fixated on good or bad, right or wrong, that when you are so obsessed with getting everything just right, it holds you back. So which you already are aware of. I know this. So if you always aim for perfect, you'll never start and you'll never get anywhere. So what's the solution? For my ones out there, decide to settle for good enough, risk being wrong, and adjust as necessary. You can always improve as you go. And quite honestly, your standards really raise the bar for the rest of us. My enneagram 2 is the helpers Stay focused Twos. Enneagram Twos are superheroes. They're always flying in. They put on a cape and swoop in to help others in their hour of need. And I don't want you to lose that quality because it's your superpower. But you will find that as you start really in business and entrepreneurship, you're going to encounter a lot of needs that you could meet. But really asking yourself, is this mine to do? And staying focused and trying not to do everything. Saying yes to one thing always means saying no to something else. And so really asking yourself, is this the best yes? Staying focused on what you are there to do. Think of creative ways that you can remind yourself of this. Maybe put a sticky note somewhere. I have my son put certain things on his lock screen to remind him. The question I have him ask himself before he says yes to anything is, can I get back to you in 24 hours? And then going into, is this really mine to do? And if I say yes to this, what am I going to possibly be saying no to? You will always be the superheroes in our books. So don't, don't you ever forget that. All right? My threes, my achievers, my competitive achievers. Your goal, your tip, is to double down on relationships. Since you're always so goal oriented, sometimes your relationships and your health kind of, you know, get pushed to the side. So you Threes, you're the hardest workers ever. You're the most admired on the Enneagram for sure, because you always seem to have energy for the task at hand. So as a three, you're going to get excited about what you do. And that is a good thing. That is like, that is what we love about you. However, you'll be tempted to put relationships and your health on the back burner because it seems like not very productive and inefficient use of your time. But don't give in because I don't want you to burn out. Threes are most prone to burnout. You may not need to close relationships now, but you will soon enough.
Make sure you keep those relationships healthy now so that they're still available when you need them later. I've seen so many three relationships that you know, because you're so fixated on the end result, you miss a little miracles in your relationships along the way. And you're really going to need that part. Really. Relationships make the world go around. So for my threes, we know that you are a get it done kind of person, but double down on your relationships. My fours, my individualist, the romantics understand that there are going to be the waves and ride them like nobody's business. Because fours, you guys have heard me say you are the most emotionally up and down people on the enneagram. That is your superpower and also your wrecking ball. So when you're venturing out into entrepreneurship and it's going really well, it's amazing you guys ride that wave. But when something goes unexpected, unexpectedly wrong, the fours can lose your momentum quickly. And remember that emotions come in waves. And just like real waves, another one always comes. And sometimes they're really, really quiet and calm and sometimes they'll kind of rock your world. So when you get down about something, be patient. Another wave of good is coming soon, I promise. And you know, as a four, when you lean into a little more structure because the fours in a growth pattern take on the healthy one. You know, when you feel like you just got knocked on your ass by a wave that didn't feel so good, Add a little structure in your wife so you don't get sucked into the tide underneath you. And really lean into any form of structure when the going isn't going as good. And that will keep you from going to the dark side too far. Fives, my investigators. Fives are brilliant and you can research and plan better than almost anyone. So. So five, here's what you gotta really keep in mind. Planning is great. Research is great. Doing your homework and knowing your stuff before starting is great. But there will always be more research you could do and more books to read. So I want you to set a launch date in mind when you are planning a project or whatever that looks like, like have an execution date, seriously. But if you never, like, because you guys will prepare to prepare to prepare. And if you never start preparing, you'll never actually start. And I see that happen with a lot of fires. You want to make sure you're capable and equipped. Your brilliance can't come to the word. So set a launch date on projects. Do all the prep you can before that deadline. But when the deadline comes, no ifs, ands or buts, you just go for it. You can treat the whole thing as an experiment. Just put that in your mind and really take note of how it goes. Make adjustments and keep tweaking it. I know that you guys like to really have it nailed down to almost perfection because you want to make sure that you appear equipped and capable. And you are, trust me, more than any of us. But you got to take action. My6 is use your fear and anxiety as a place to begin. The Sixes often think in terms of worst case scenarios. They're always looking for a blind side, and you can get anxious or completely overwhelmed by that. And it is your beautiful thing. It's the troubleshooter in you keeps a lot of us, especially the decisive Eights, out of trouble. But the problem is that it often starts and stops right there, right? And you can get into analysis paralysis. So my loyalists out there, please don't let anxiety be the end result. Asking yourself, okay, so if this really does happen, what would I do? In response? Or for those of you that maybe lead or guide other people, like if you had somebody kind of spinning out and you said that to them, asking them that too will really keep that at the forefront for you. Keeping note of your answers and you know, you can actually turn them into, you know, worst case scenario plans. Put them on a spreadsheet. I know you Sixes love spreadsheets. You'll feel much more prepared when you realize that you know what to do if the worst actually does happen. Having.
You know, some of the more assertive types in your corner as partners will help you as long as they're in the healthy place. And don't dismiss your need to have the troubleshooting kind of nailed down. But we want you to execute too. You know, it's really, really important because you guys are amazing, amazing Sevens.
I know you're always looking for the shiny things, the innovative things, exciting things that you guys are visionaries, but I want you to do one boring thing every day. You guys have dreams and ideas galore, and trust me, I live with one. I know how exciting things can be for you. But the hard part comes when a 7 has to buckle down and do boring things that come with every great idea.
Rather than putting that stuff off and letting it pile up on you, which I see happen sometimes, practice doing at least one mundane, not so exciting task every single day. And trust me, living with a 7, I have watched her turn boring things into something fun. She will sing her way through some stuff, she will make it a dance party, whatever, but it's still doing that boring thing every day. This way you're at least making progress on it. And when you do have to spend extra time on the boring and maybe important necessities you're not out of practice to make it fun if you have to. Even the boring things she makes fun. So if she can do it, you, you can do it. And I dare you to try standing, you know, in something that maybe you wouldn't want to do with someone. Like, like do something that might, you might seem as boring with a friend or a partner and let yourself find the joy in it. And you'll see that not everything is boring as sometimes you guys think it is. Eights, my fellow challengers, we're usually fiery and passionate and we don't like being told what to do. That's a big shocker there, right?
Ironically, that being said, Eights, we often end up taking on way more than what we need to because you think that if you don't do it, it probably won't get done.
Eights can get overwhelmed and bitter because sometimes you think everyone else has just left all this responsibility on your plate. But in reality, let's just call it what it is. Eights, we often take on things that no one ever asked us to and we need my eights to look at the big picture. You can be your own boss and put healthy boundaries on yourself so you can make a long term impact. So the tip for my eights, don't let your passion control you. I have to really watch this one because I can fall into this trap all the time and this is where resentment piles up and that explosive 8 can come out. So really, really, really.
You know, seeing the bigger picture and not just going hot with everything, you'll recognize that it's okay to be vulnerable, it's okay to let others take the wheel. I know that you will always vet them, but really kind of, you're very decisive. You always will be.
But really kind of taking a step back and.
Kind of thinking things through a little bit will help you with that. All right, last of all are beautiful peacemakers. And you nines have an incredible ability to understand other people's perspectives. You're the most inclusive, inviting, least judgmental on the enneagram. You also can get super tired and disengaged when conflict arises. So crowdsourcing your energy is going to be really, really important because when you get tired and disengaged, when conflict comes up, you need to find a source of inspiration from someone decisive. A person that you know, otherwise known as me. A book, a podcast that, that really can help you make moves, get away from everything for an hour a day, a weekend, and spend time with your source of inspiration. And don't Just like listen to it, but absorb the qualities you need to press forward. It's one thing to have information, but information without action is kind of just pointless and you'll actually end up more drained if you don't actually take action. So knowing that you have a reliable source of like, okay, I trust this person for the power move, and you actually take some of that advice and take action, you'll come back actually more refreshed and focused if you do. And saying no to a few things will be really, really important. So like letting somebody else take over. It isn't your responsibility to keep the peace all the time. Let somebody else handle it so that you can fill yourself back up. So I know that as we move into the second month of the year, you may already be experiencing burnout or disappointment or both. Or maybe you are inundated with excitement and business and things are moving faster. All of these are important to understand and be aware of. So really keeping the self awareness at the forefront and your own emotional intelligence as a main priority. Emotional intelligence is your greatest predictor for success.
So, so, you know, for extra accountability, getting a partner that is a little bit different than you, maybe in an area that you struggle, but somebody that you know that has your best interest at heart and is, you know, healthy and really wants to see you step into your growth. But start implementing these small little tips and ideas into your life and your entrepreneur life, business life, home life, so that you can start, you know, energetically getting stronger so you're not bankrupt of it, and that you can reap the big huge benefits not just for this month or next month or this year, but for many, many years to come.
